This video is about building the an electronic bass drum with the most realistic playing feel. Recently I got the chance to play the Roland KD-220, KD-180 and also a modified 22” Acoustic Kick drum with an Roland KD-22A adapter attached. I tested countless other trigger solutions in the past, but none of them could provide such a decent playing feel. Those 3 Roland Kick Drum solutions are definitely in the top league.
However, the KD-220 costs 1500€, while the cheaper KD-180 costs still 1200€. The only equal affordable solution is the Kick drum converter for 330€ combined with an acoustic kick drum. However this is still kind of expensive, even if you get a cheap bass drum like the Pearl Export 22” For only 250€.
