This video we are back to focusing on perfecting the street chasis twin turbo 300ZX in modern form. To do so I'm wrapping up some things that I started a while ago, but never quite completely finished. One of them being the previously installed Volvo Electric Power steering pump. It has always given me problems and it's never quite worked 100%. Well, turns out to be that my problem has been something very simple all along. See the full install of the power steering pump in this video here!
• Installing an Electric...
Following the power steering pump The Car Has always had issues with heat getting into the cabin. especially near the transmission tunnel. So I've purchased some quality DEI heat shielding to take care of that permanently.

And finally the battery relocation which has never, EVER looked pretty, primarily due to it's size. Well I've always wanted to try a small frame battery in the wheel well, and I've come up with the XS power D680 Battery! turns out to be just the perfect size and have plenty of amps to turn over this little v6.

Billy! Billy! Billy! You might think about insolating you battery terminals... or better yet, use a single feed wire to a distribution box with a master cutoff... and please tell me you gonna install the undertray aero panels. Insofar as your remote power steering is concerned, an accumulator might be necessary. Well Done!

Oh believe me Terminal insulation is definitely on my mind now, especially with the battery sitting like it is😅. Will more than likely run a master cut off as well. So I made my own front under tray. Which I'll put on once I'm comfortable with everything under the car the way it is. But I've got something else to go with that. Accumulator would be a great idea for more steady pressure if I could find a small one. But I'm also trying to keep everything as simple as possible, so catch 22 there.

Thanks for all the Z content!! Owned one for 24 yrs and counting. My Z sat a lot last year plus over a winter.(mn) I changed oil and started it up now oil press is about 8-10 psi from what it was previously.(I have a aftermarket sensor and digital gauge) Any thoughts? Should I be worried?
@Billy_Built
@Billy_Built 2 ай бұрын
That's a long time to own one lol I believe factory specification is between 8 to 12 PSI. It actually says in the FSM. The weight of the oil, and your idle RPM could also change the oil pressure a few psi. I use 20w50 and my idle sits right about 1,000 RPM comfortably.
@aaronpuchalla5261
@aaronpuchalla5261 2 ай бұрын
Ok my idle is 875 I use 5-30 oil. Last yr hot idle psi was 18-20. Now it’s 26-30. It may be nothing. But Im the type of Z owner that knows fuel and oil pressure at any rpm lol I’ve had a lot of trials and tribulations so I can be paranoid Thanks

Great video--- I have a few questions--- if you drive your Z less than 1500-2k a year--- would you changes the Oil twice a year using Mobil one 5-30w. Also, how often do you recommend changing the timing belt? Last performed 4 years ago. I am still running the original turbo after 30 years. Although, the car has developed a coolant leak on the passenger side. The car received a coolant bypass fix a couple of yrs ago.

All depends on how it was driven/ fuel bring used. 2nd I'd use a heavier oil. I've always used VR1 20w50.

Timing belt should be every 5-6 years, regardless of mileage.

I got a caged 40k mile 90 TT that’s been waiting to be restored, I got the engine and everything but probably need to hone the bore. Are twin turbos worth reviving? I’ve revived 2 NAs in the past
