This is a simple video showing how to put up metal siding. The only thing I do not show in this video is putting a closure on the top part of the metal. If you want anymore information, please comment below.
Thank for watching! Be safe out there!

Looks great! I’m so glad to see you do metal siding. Mainly because that’s what we are planning. We are looking at doing our home with a product called Trulog.( board and batten style metal siding that looks like wood). What made you decide to go with metal over the other siding products? Just curious? My reason is because we are up in the tress and I’m Fire paranoid plus Low maintenance reasons.

Thanks you. Yes I have heard of the trulog siding you have discribed. I haven't installed it before but I have seen it. That should look really nice! And you won't have to stain every few years, so that will save you money in the long run. We debated on what kind of exterior to do. We didn't want stucco for the style of house we are going for, so some kind of siding we wanted to do. Maintenance free is one of the reasons, but utimately we wanted to do something different and out of the ordinary that is around here. I'm also familiar with the products since I work with them for a living. It definitely was more challenging then regular wood type siding, I had to get alot of custom trims and such. But I love the look and I guess we will see how it holds up long term to hail and sun fade. Thanks for following along!

Thanks for the video! I'm refurbishing an old farmhouse in California. I like this type of metal siding. What brand or type is it? Why didn't you use the wood straps for screwing it on?

Sounds like a great project you have! The metal profile I used is called "CD 2000", and is made by Central States Manufacturing. You can look them up, to find a distributer near you. Other manufacturers also carry a profile similar. I think if I'm understanding your second question, you are asking me why I didn't screw the metal on to furring strips or gerter boards? The reason is I put horizontal fire blocking in the stud cavities to attach to, and I can still keep my exterior sheathing all flush with my windows. But it is a good idea to create a rain screen and add furring strips to attach your metal to, you would just have to flash and extend out windows and doors. Hoke this helps!

Nice work! Is your soffit sitting on top of your J for your siding? Or did you use another type of trim for soffit as well? We’re about to start ours and I’m debating on going with J or using their J &H (soffit & siding) one piece trim. Thank you for a great video. 😊

Thank you! I used an F&J trim that worked for both the soffit and siding. Which is probably similar to your J&H. It’s a more difficult profile to cut, but saves time instead of installing two trims.

Hey Josh! I'm looking to build a metal barndominium but have not seen a white house such as this one. Is there a picture of the completed house that you are working on? Also, is the metal dented easily from hail?
@buildingwithjosh
@buildingwithjosh 2 жыл бұрын
I'm going to do a house walk through video soon that will show the completed house. So stay tuned for that. You can also look up "Building With Josh" on Instagram that has some photographs of the house. The metal holds up to hail well. The roof and walls very rarely ever get damaged unless the hail is extreme. I recommend a 26 guage on the roof to hold up better. Hopefully this helps!

They are specialty matched screws that you can order from the meta supplier. They have a rubber and metal washer and match the colors of metal.

can i install direct to ICF or i need furring
@buildingwithjosh
@buildingwithjosh 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend horizontal furring strips to attach too. Unless I'm mistaken, I believe ICF only has vertical composite backing to attach too?? If it has horizontal strips, you could apply directly to the ICF.

@@buildingwithjosh yeah they are vertical plastic backers every 8”. How often would you recommend horizontal furring. It’s a 9’ high wall
@buildingwithjosh
@buildingwithjosh 2 жыл бұрын
@@canukfuck I would recommend 24-30". That's on 29 guage.
