Finally a video where the bullet journal/system is NOT perfect from the beginning :D I was a little "scared" to "just" start one because I thought 'What if you mess up a page?' But I feel more relaxed now that I've seen your video and growth over the month. I can just adjust the systems to my personal needs over time. No worries :) ♥

I like to include the weather every day, with a little drawn icon and the temperature. It's interesting to see how the weather and temperature affect my mood and productivity on any given day. Plus, my journal is super utilitarian looking, and the little clouds and sun give it some personality

I like how you found a system that worked for you as you went along and that you didn't seem to just have it all figured out right when you started. Also I think it was nice how you had a simple system and didn't obsess over the look of it at first. You made it functional and eventually added the decoration and color to instead of doing it all from the start.

This video was extremely helpful. It made me feel not so overwhelmed with all of the possibilities there are with bullet journaling, and to understand that (especially in the beginning) it's all about developing what works for you and trying the basics before really customizing your journal INTO what it needs to be for what you will use it for.

After watching tons of bullet journal videos (and I mean TONS), I really enjoyed yours, because your video is so realistic and so honest about where exactly you are at in self-exploration (ex. what works for you, what doesn't etc.). I am questioning myself if I should start a bullet journal or not, but have been hesitant because I am still more comfortable with my current system. However, your video made me re-think the idea of bullet journaling and I am grateful for that. Thank you so much for sharing!

I have tried doing this in so many different ways, but due to my depression it works well on the highs but when I get into the lows that’s when it is not touched at all, because this going back to it always left me flat for the missed days where I have been in so much pain I can not focus at all. Now later in my life I just go with the flow, it’s one of the reasons why I have so many different hobbies. This has been a major brake through for me as each mood takes on a different life which then gives me that different mood to work with something for the day. Before my nervous brake down I was supper good at keeping a bullet journal after the brake down it left my mind fractured (it’s so hard to explain) it’s hard to keep thing straight and in focus all the time, sometimes the silliest of things can distract you that before you know it you have no idea it was you were trying to do in the first place. Many of my new hobbies have been able to calm that storm in the mind and bring me back to that calm place. It is because of this I can function 80% of the time, if I ignore them I get worst as each day passes. So I’ve had to learn to let go of my old life where I was always in control. It’s not easy but at least at my age I’m no longer expected to do certain things anymore. Today is one of those days so I spend it watching KZfaq funny enough this really does help. I have had 4 great days sitting and doing some hand sewing sitting in the sunshine yesterday I tried to but the weather was against me so to the time to run and do some of things in town and pickup the mail. Today it’s windy and cold as if winter is coming back so I’m curled up with my electric blanket and catching up on my KZfaq watching and I have left all thoughts of tomorrow for tomorrow to sort out.

I love how you merged the monthly goals with the spread - I've been doing mine separately in my weekly, and though it's nice to see things on a weekly basis I feel like I could benefit from moving back to the monthly! This has made me realise that at the 1yr point of my bujo, I should probably strip it back and see what I REALLY need!

Hey Wendy, so glad to see that your BuJo'ing. I am starting in opposite direction. Since I try to keep my BuJo with me I decided to try to use a mini Traveler Notebook . The inserts are small (4X3) but they allow me to separate my Planning/To do from my Notes/Journaling. I found I take so many notes that it was hard "threading" ideas together. I will let the world know about how my experiment is working if I ever start videoing stuff.

I love journaling and go through phases of journaling. 💕 Have kept a daily journal for a few years, also sporadic journaling. With my pace of life, right now (home with my 18 month old and 7 week old), I find journaling just takes up too much time and is counter productive for me personally; I would end up feeling anxiety about not being able to write in my journal everyday. 😅 I do love a good to do list, either daily, if I need to order my thoughts or long term; posted on the fridge. Also have a little black book for video ideas.

Thank you for the walk-thru about how you initially used it, how it evolved to fit your lifestyle, and your reflections - pros and cons. No one really puts into such a succinct review especially in terms of productivity and measuring progress towards goals. Thank you for this! P.S. Yes, I agree - all the attempts at artistry was too intimidating for me. I'm using your dot system, grateful + excited for, and using weeklies more of an end-of-the-week intentions: love, gratitude, discovery and mindshift.

hey wendy! i'm so excited for you in starting your new bullet journal, and i can see its really effective for you so far. i have a looot of tips and i hope some are of use! something i like to do when there's extra space i never used is i draw doodles if you're a doodle type, paste in photos or other mementos relevant to the page, or fill it with a relevant quote. also, try researching tracker pages where you consistently flip back to it to reflect on it like how you want to feel and what you want to do by the end of the year (really good motivation!). also, it's a lot easier and less time consuming to choose a color scheme for one month, or week that way you're not switching back and forth from colors. creating an index can really help if you find yourself flipping back in previous pages (but you gotta remember to update it!). if you plan to paste in anything, pay attention to how flat it is and how much bulk it will give your journal. washi tape is also a pretty good decorative element if you want to invest in making your journal look more appealing. i hope some of this helps you wendy!

I also do fashion and bullet journaling and sewing (and booktube) all on my channel!! i usually spend quite a bit of time of aesthetic not because I want it to look beautiful but because I find it to be meditative. I couldnt believe you started when I saw this video, thank you for sharing, it was really direct and helpful!!! :D

this video helped so much!!! I've been wanting to start a bullet journal for so long now but I was always overwhelmed by thinking that it had to be beautiful and colourful right from the beginning

I love the system of x's and dashes you use. I sort of have an all-in-one notebook at the moment: planner, journal, sketchbook, etc. It's maybe a little too disorganized but I do like having everything all in one place and being able to always have it with me. I'm hoping to make it a little more organized in the future. I really appreciate how simple your design is. I think what scares me about bullet journaling is how fancy many of them seem to be.

Thank you for this video. A friend recently mentioned she was doing a Bullet Journal and I had never heard of it. I am a goal-oriented person who likes to make to-do lists and track my progress so the concept sounded exciting to me. I was a bit intimidated by the other videos I watched, but your approach of trying different formats each month to find what works best for you makes me much more comfortable with it. The long weekend ahead is the perfect time for me to set-up for June. Wish me luck!

Thank you for this! I did get inspired by all the videos but also intimidated like you mentioned could happen. This is the video that actually got me to start a bullet journal right away, for real!

When I first started my bullet journal, a key for me was to sketch a layout for each "type" of page before I drew them. That way I could plan the spacing nicely and decide what to put on the opposite side. What was really helpful for me is using a disk bound journal. I can use that to move my pages around. If I mess up a page, I can throw it away. I can move the current weekly page to the front every week. If a page is no longer relevant, but I want to keep it, it goes in the back. It's only been 2 months so far, so I haven't done a big purge/archive, but I like knowing that I can keep the same journal and put all new pages in it quickly and easily. The habit tracker is addicting to fill in! Adding it definitely helped me feel motivated to use the journal every day.

Loved this video. It definitely took some pressure off. By that I mean, you don’t have to stick with one thing and you can find out what works and doesn’t work. Thank you!!

I think I really needed this video to motivate me to get my life together. time management for my spring semester has really been getting me and my GPA down, but no more! I shall figure out how to maximize me because those really cute premade planners also don't really work with me ☺️
