Thanks for making this video. My 11yo plays a lot of hockey & has started getting insecure about the fact that as she’s playing more it’s changing the way things like her legs look. It’s been sad to hear because she’s put a lot of work into improving & trying to move up through her schools teams & was rightly really proud of herself. I was vaguely aware that body image affects girls participation in sports but it came as a shock to hear it at such a young age & to hear how genuinely it worried her.

The ONLY important thing is whether YOU are OK with how you look and feel! If anyone (and obviously there are many - idiots!) has a problem with that then that is entirely their issue. Having people like you (i.e. in the light of 'fame') who suffer this abuse deal with it in the way that you do is heartening and deserving of loads of praise. Keep up the good work (all of it!) and don't let the bastards grind you down! Incidentally I think you look great - and clearly you deserve it for all the work you obviously put into it. As a fan of women’s rugby I constantly see “people” taking time out of their day to put others down, whether that involves women looking “masculine” or dismissing the product as less impressive than the men’s game, or just blatant homophobia. It saddens me these people exist and have nothing better to do with their time. I’ve sometimes called them out on it but it’s often just a waste of time arguing with an idiot, so now I just out them as a troll and move on - because to me that shows their opinion doesn’t matter. As a father of 2 young girls it’s important to me for them to see strong women in all walks of life and give them confidence to be whoever they want to be irrespective of the opinions of some idiots online. Thanks for being one of those role models and just keep smashing it 🌹
