Once upon a time in Japan, McDonald's had, for a limited time, an almond-flavoured shake. I figured half almond and half chocolate would be pretty great, so that's what I ordered: "半分チョコレート、半分アルモンド。" I think if I were talking to a manager, I'd have gotten nowhere. Luckily I was talking to a staff of teens, and they (very nervously) mixed the flavours for me. But it was pretty clear they weren't supposed to. Next time you're at T&T, you can buy real okonomi sauce, and bonito flakes, and maybe even ao-nori. If you're heading straight home, you can also get Taiwanese cabbage (it's softer) and shabu-shabu cut thin-sliced pork. Okonomiyaki is the greatest Japanese food almost nobody outside of Japan has ever heard of!

Twenty-five years ago a Japanese student at the language school where I worked introduced me to Okonomiyaki. As far as I'm concerned, if it ain't got little skin grafts of fish curling and uncurling on top then it's a pale imitation of the real thing. Dancing food is wonderful!

Dude, anything with you, your family, cooking and seeing you spending time together is gold (although I do prefer IPA/Stout/Porter over Lager). Your better 3/4 is really getting comfortable and upping the quality of the production, great to see. And hearing Chickadee say anything to the "boys and girls" melts my heart. My kids are much older, but it brings back memories. Now I've got a grandkid, I'm looking forward to and plotting about what I can teach him as he gets older. Anyone who doesn't like these and wants more "shop videos", ignore them. They probably don't even have a vice to keep their dick in.

Just a minor nitpick from your local JA-Pan nerd here, but the japanese word you referenced with the special orders is actually pronounced "Dame (駄目)", not "Dome". It does translate to "No good" or "Not gonna happen", though. The kanji characters used in the word roughly mean "Burdensome/worthless" and "experience/care" in this exact circumstance, meaning that technically, it could be translated as "burdensome experience". I find this shit fascinating, so please excuse me if I overstepped any bounds. I just think it's cool as shit how Japanese has etymology baked into their words by using Kanji characters. You can literally make up your own words if you know the proper bits.

As the owner/operator of a restaurant my Grandfather built himself that also loves fixings things until they're broke, this is solid gold. But at my house everyone just tells me how I should be cooking from the couch haha

Oh guy mosh, you should do a cooking channel. I'd watch. Love the running commentary... I'd even make and eat that stuff.

I sometimes spend more time reading the comments than watching the actual videos. I don't comment much but I like the people here.
