One other suggestion. I always use tape pulls. Just fold a quarter inch of the tape back on its self. That makes is so much easier for the recipient to unpack.

Thanks Regie for taking the time to show other collectors how to CGC bundle. When stacking your comics, you might want to try laying the first book down. Then stack the next book upside down like you're trying to read it turning the pages to the right not the left. Thus the staples of each book being on the opposite side of each other. So the "Brick" won't have different spacing on each side.

Good stuff. I appreciate the tip. If you've read the comments I think everyone has a slight twist that works for them which is great. I created the video to start a dialogue about a topics because I think lots of people have questions on this topic. I appreciate you adding to the discussion.

LOL. This is actually another series of videos. It started with my USPS damaged book video. I have a yet to be released video focused on packaging/shipping for eBay sales. I was planning to release this CGC shipping video later but I received two requests recently that prompted me to change the order. I received two books yesterday with zero cardboard in a bubble wrap lined mailer. I think you know the rest of the story. :-)

Great video loved the step by step and your method of shopping. I agree when you have a valuable book and ship it don’t go cheap secure it very well.

Good video. One thing I would change is not putting tape on the cover side. There is a chance that when those books are tightly sandwiched together, the tape can leave an impression on the cover, especially if you are using thicker tape like painters tape. Only apply tape to the backing board side. You can accomplish this by flipping the comics so that the to covers are against each other and then when you tape the comics together, the tape only goes against the backing board sides. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for adding to the discussion and demonstrating that there is more than one way to skin a cat. With that said, my method has been used to ship hundreds of books cross the county and to CGC. I have netted dozens of 9.8s but the cautionary note is appreciated. Care must be taken.

Great video! My way is similar but I put my stack of X3 comics in a Golden Age Bag and put a backing board on top, of the top comics cover, to prevent any acidental finger nail dents from person picking at tape during unpacking.

Yea I've been thinking about it for a minute,, I need to but not really ready to send off,, I have like 50+ comics to screen through again and pick my next batch since I got my CGC submission back yesterday. Soon.

Respect to packing books like that bro.. I do the same thing. But when I see some let's say shady sellers on eBay that send books to customers in a flimsy cardboard and mailer and then see damage all over a book I get angry like no tomorrow. Might aswell use a safe way bag then

To Do mine I traced the shape of a modern comic Bag and Board that had some space at the stop onto a cardboard box and used that as a template cut it placed two comics in and taped it up I just need to wrap it in bubble Wrap use packing peanuts for protection put it in a Box and mail it away

Bro that's pretty much how i do it 👍, just sent my Avengers #4 to CGC Sunday but I also used a top loader and gemini box and I'm paying for the 6 business day return and I'm watching that FedEx tracker like a parent sending their kid off to college.

Lol. So you’re watching it like a hawk. Love it. I’ve heard about various methods for bundling books which is great-people have options. The only bad method is the one that results in a damaged book. Lol. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a high grade on that Avengers 4. I plan to FedEx my books tomorrow am. I’m paying to fast track my IM 55. :)

Good stuff. I'm guessing you mean instead of cardboard, right? If you've looked at the comments guys have several approaches including top loaders, Gemini mailers, tape/no tape, etc. I think all of it works. Thanks for commenting.

You're the man, Regie. I recently got back into collecting, with the thought I will pass these books on to my twin boys who are 6 mos old when they get older. I just received my Edge of Spider-verse 2 (first Spider-Gwen) and I really needed some help in making sure the book (and a few others) get to CGC safely. Thank you again for your excellent step-by-step instructions. I believe there is a place in Comic-book Heaven set aside specifically for you :) (ps - Miles and Lucas future selves thank you as well for their comic-heritance :)

Congrats on the twin boys! Are these your first two? Children are such a blessing brother. I have two myself. One boy and one girl. I’m glad that the video was helpful. I use Gemini mailers for eBay sales and the like. My approach is rooted in the recommended CGC method for submissions. It's not perfect but it seems to work for me. Thanks for watching bud. I appreciate you.

Hey Regie great video, I don’t know much about comics. Though today I was playing spider-man for the ps4 and one part had Miles Morales as a playable character. Got me curious and I just googled his name because why not. I was especially interested in the first appearance part of that was showing and then remembered in 2011 I went to a field trip to an old comic book store in my city looking for hero’s and they gave everyone in my class a ultimate fallout 4 comic book. So apparently it’s the first appearance of Miles and this blew me away. Did some research and learnt about this CGC stuff unknown to me. It’s been sitting in a box with the original plastic and cardboard for years until now. How would I get it to a 9.8?!?!?? Very cool new way at looking at comics

Congrats. Not sure that you can get a 9.8 on that book without seeing it. Just because it’s in the plastic doesn’t mean that it’s perfect unfortunately because the plastic itself can damage the comic. If you’re on Instagram message me there and I can provide more guidance. RegieCollects

Reggie, will you be doing a video in which you discuss the differences between each grading company AND which one is better, most preferred, most popular, etc? I'd love to hear your take on it and which one you most prefer

Hey Mike! I have zero experience with 2 out of 3 of the grading companies. I did a lot of research prior to selecting CGC as my preferred grading company but once I made the call I have looked back. There are several other folks that have created comparison videos that you might want to check out. If I create a video it will be on my thought process around selecting CGC. Thoughts?

I have been watching it all dude! I don't have a lot of books I want to have graded but I have 1 or 2 that are sentimental and may submit to CBCS because they are signed. If I make a decision down the road then I will most definitely follow this tutorial. Thanks for posting and helping out the comic newbies!

Hello Regie! I enjoyed this video. When I was younger I started comic book collecting and eventually started setting up and selling comic books at local conventions starting at the age of 15!!! I’ve gone many years away from my collection, today I started going through what I have and found some pretty good ones. Oh. All the memories. My question is for my very first shipment to CGC how many do you suggest sending and what value? I’ve never sent anything to CGC before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I haven’t watched this video in over a year but I think this one shows CGCs preferred method for comic submissions. I have however used various methods that also work. Top loaders will work but will not be returned.

It’s scrap cardboard cut down to the same size. This video is a few years old so this might be an Amazon box but I can’t recall. 😂🤣

I've never submitted to CGC. What's the best and maybe cheapest way to get the ball rolling if you'd like to eventually do a lot of books over many months? Is signing up w/CGC and being a member the way to go so you can get the forms and print them out yourself or do you go to an authorized CGC place like a comic shop and have them send them out? I'm wondering which way is best? Cosmic Comics out in California quoted me about $35 to clean and press a book but it has a $4,500 value and they say it's another $230 to get it to CGC for grading and insurance/shipping both ways etc. That sound right or is that a bit much? The book is an already graded X-Men 1 from 1963 graded a 4.5 which could use a pressing to it's benefit. Just curious what route you'd take, thanks!

I personally like to be in control, so I purchased my own membership with CGC. That way, I can decide the best submission for my books and can monitor the books as they moves through the process. The LCS can do it but you're giving up the control. Is the X-Men 1 a raw graded book? I will watch those now. No, the X-Men is a 4.5 graded CGC slabbed book. They graded it in 2016. With a bit of a spine roll and some dirt and uneven-ness (is that a word?) meaning the cover isn't totally flat, the book seems a nice candidate for pressing so I'm considering the service. Rocket Comics (not Cosmic, sorry!) seems to have quoted me a high price though to see the book through to completion.

A good press can improve that spine roll and make the book lay flat--fingers crossed. Sounds like you have an undervalued comic on your hands. Good luck! Again, if it was me, I'd get my own membership to CGC.

Glad you’re enjoying the videos bud. You’ll be fine. You can use the technique in this video or you can employ Gemini mailers. I’ve used several techniques to mail comics to CGC. Bundle them up, pay the extra money and ship them swiftly to reduce transit time.

@@RegieCollects im already a free member so i might just upgrade and take advantage of that "free" premium and give this a shot. Now all i needs is about a few hundred yards of bubblewrap hah. Im also going to see if i can find anyone here locally to press them. I think cgc actually mails it out to anther location just for the pressing.

CGC has an in-house division ccs that will press them but hopefully you can find a local presser so that you can avoid the multiple mailings and costs associated with using a local but not that local presser. If you know what I mean. When you decide to upgrade, please consider using the affiliate link in the description of my videos. CGC gives the channel a few bucks for the recommend. I should also mention that the premium membership gives you that $150 credit annually.

great video I'm going to do the same for my comics. I was wondering though, how many comics would you bundle up in the same brick and also what shipping service do you like to use to send them to cgc ups, usps. thanks

The size of the brick will depend upon the size of your books. Generally I will try to keep the number less than 10 per brick but if the books are annuals, I may go with a lower number. I will also pack multiple bricks in the same box, it’s just depends upon how many books you are sending. I’ve also shipped books in Gemini maulers but have yet to film that process. I tend to use FedEx because we get a discount through my wife’s job.

I actually assumed that you already posted a video on the topic. I purposefully didn't look on your channel because I didn't want those "ideas" to root in my head. I just turned the camera on and filmed. Given that you don't have a video on the topic, I absolutely think you should film one. I don't think there is only one way to do this so the perspective would be helpful for everyone.
