In part 72 of the Massey Ferguson 136 6 speed restoration series I run through assembling a 9 / 11 dual clutch assembly on our MF135.
Hello Im Lance (aka Bundy Bear) and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advise to customers.
Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandtractorspares.co...
We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you dont see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au and we will help where we can.
I do try and help with technical advise at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

Hi Lance Going by a pommy workshop manual the firber washers under the clutch spings is to help protect them from the heat if the clutch gets hot.

Thanks Alan, I never knew that, it would have to get very hot to worry the springs you would think.

In Spain, we have this machine, but we have the same machine with diferent name, EBRO 160, made by Massey Ferguson in 1972. Massey made this tractor in Spain in this years, at the same time that Massey Ferguson 165. I have one EBRO 160D with doble clutch, and i need to repair. Thak you for the video, great.

For the 35x dual clutch, page 241 in the workshop manual and page 58 in the parts manual seem to be showing 2 Belleville springs, did they change that for the 135? I only have 1 Belleville spring, like this video shows. Having a problem with the PTO clutch not working after a rebuild, grinding gears horribly when you try to engage the PTO, and then not disengaging the drive when it's in. Can feel the two stages in the clutch pedal quite clearly, main engine clutch is working fine, adjusted the gap in the 3 clutch bolts down to 50 thou, adjusted the clutch pedal travel, finger bolts at 1/2" like the book says, still no joy. But you can feel the second stage quite clearly when you press the pedal down all the way. Scratching my head a bit, any ideas? Cheers

I have only had the single spring on mine from memory. Do you think you may have bent the pto plate on assembly? That can cause the symptoms you describe.
@myharris
@myharris Жыл бұрын
@@BundyBearsShed Maybe that's it. Been turning it over and over in my minds eye and actually wondered if the pto plate was jammed on the splines somehow, which is the same effect. I'll get the bloody thing apart again - thank god I took the time to make a proper splitting stand and rails, I'd be on my third hernia by now otherwise. Thanks for getting back to me Lance, makes a difference getting a reply 👍

Could have put all 12 red springs in to be sure it didn't slip at the pulls. :-)

The 135 tractor was the same tractor as th 35 they did a tin plate modification ie. They kept the round rear mudgaurds but upgrade to square bonnet then the square mudgards. Came out. The 35 did have a 4 cylinder engine in it and that clutch had the 2 belville springs fitted as the 4 cylinder was made by the standard motor company. Not a very good engine. When the 35 had the perkins 3 cylinder engine the clutch was the same as the 135 tractor so 35 and 135 had the same clutchs as this video. With 3 cylinder perkins engines hope you can understand what im trying to portray to you. So the old clutch with 4 cylinder had 2 belvil springs this clutch was fitted to all the perkins 3 cylinder engines . Hope this helps .

@@BundyBearsShed thank you I do know that. As there were the standard motor company engine fitted and there was the tvo. And the petrol version . I liked the perkins 3 152 engines. Then there was 203 212 236 perkins for the 65. 165 175 185. Yes those were the days thank you for your reply.

I have the older Spicer dual clutch with the two Belleville springs. The primary clutch surface has fallen to bits and the primary Belleville spring plate is split. (What happened first?). I could not find much info on this clutch nor could I find replacement Belleville spring washers. Are they available?I have only removed the clutch assembly so far so it is still intact. The split primary Belleville I was able to sight. In the book it says the secondary Belleville, although the same size, is of a different rating so I don’t know how you distinguish one from the other if I was buying new or used ones.

I dont think they are available or not with my suppliers at least. They are not a common thing here.

Thanks for your response. It is a Mf 35 (23C). I am 2nd owner and have had it for 45 years and was the original clutch if what the first owner told me at the point of sale was correct. I think I have found a Barco replacement although it would be a lot cheaper to repair. I am surprised that you found it uncommon. I am in Vic so maybe they flogged that combination down here although I presumed they were in FE 35’s.
