What I find interesting is that the pressure gauge was stuck at 11 psi which means that at some point in time it must’ve been at 11 psi

nice you gave steve lav credit where credit is due. hes the first yt plumber i started watching about 5yrs ago which got me interested in the trade. now i watch a little from everyone but mainly steve lav and mikey fricking pipes. keep up the good work, frankie. always be hungry for knowledge and hands on experience. the more you learn, the more you earn.

Mikey, that was excellent…….funny, but excellent. To bad you haven’t been approached by some big-time producer pitching a Reality TV Show based on you and your company. I mean you have it all……the content, the Characters (Franky two times, Silent Pete, Mike “the ghost” G, and Daniel) and the gift of gab that I’m sure would be a hit! 42 minutes of content gives you a 1 hour long show. You almost do that on a daily basis. Oh well, maybe in your next life. Nice job as always, Mikey 👍

Water boils at 212 degrees but for every pound of pressure its boiling point goes up 3° so like you were explaining to the homeowner .5 is where you want it so every pound over that cost more money because it has to work harder!

Your apprentice has a great teacher in you Mikey. I replaced my pigtail with a brass one due to the clogging you just experienced (my old one was steel). Every year I take it off and flush it out when I put a cleaning agent in the boiler. I have used a Hercules steam boiler cleaner for that or a Rectorseal product called Eight way. I see that you use another Rectorseal product call Surgex when you do installations. Any thoughts on using that each year when you service your clients steam boilers?

Can also use your N2 bottle to try to blow the crap out of the pigtail, or use a thin long cable tie. A squirt bottle can be used for flushing out the taps on the boiler, or thin flex bottle brushes. Good ID job by Frankie 👍👍

Great video Sir…. My mom’s house had an old peerless boiler steam furnace from 1960…. My brother is the main guy that works on it…. I’m kind of like Frank but I do pay attention on how to maintain it also….. my question to you is how often should you drain it once a month or once a week during the Chicago winters?….. we did have a pipe burst on the second floor, but we patched it up with epoxy and a pipe clamp gonna work ever since.

Tip #1 Pigtail orientation is only relevant with Mercury pressuretrol. Tip#2 You can measure the glass guage valves. Face to face, plus 3/8", will typically give you proper size for glass. Tip#3 Always use brass pigtail. If long brass pigtail is unavailable, use some brass nipples and elbows, to extend away from the boiler.

Get a co2 gun that oil guys use for oil lines. You can screw it right onto the pigtail and blow it out with a co2 cartridge

The pigtail is curled for a reason they curl it so it is one of the first things that clog up. It’s another hidden safety on a boiler.

It’s curved so that the latent heat can’t travel up to the pigtail as that would result in it tripping on a lower pressure…..

Times money 100 psi of nitrogen and a rag at your truck will clear that pig tail with out playing the hanger and water game for 10 minutes
