If one doesnt make or buy a wire stripping mechanism, they can put wire in boiling water, which will soften up the insulation, easing the stripping process.

We all live in pretty close quarters around my neighborhood..so I might get frowned upon pretty heavily if I started burning wire in my yard lol. If I need some of that satisfaction that you can only get thru the burning of wire..I'll just come back here and watch your video again ✌

Everything takes practice, and so does stripping wire. I've been doing electrical work for a long time and I have had a lot of practice and I strip that shit fast. It's worth vetting better at it because a lot of scrap yards that offer premium dollar will offer a lot less per pound if they even accept it at all for dirty copper.

My mate used to burn his wire. He said he burned it just like you are, but when the shits all come off and while it's still hot he dumped it all in a puddle or bucket of water. After pulling it out of the water it is clean as brightwire. Might be worth a try next time.

If you are going to burn wire you get a good hot fire going, let it burn down to red hot coals and then toss on wire. Put wood over the top of that and it doesn't even smoke because the burning wood above the wire burns off all the unburned fumes coming from the melting plastic insulation. That being said I still don't recommend it 🤷‍♂️

You can put copper in a paint can or large can and place in fire it will char them perfect with no toxic smoke in the air.

The scrap yard that I deal with won't take burnt wire. Your best bet would be to make copper ingots and sell them on eBay.

Fill the bucket with some acidic juice i use those frozen pineapple juice concentrate. Put 1 or 2 in bucket fill up let set for a couple days acid will strip off most of the black. Take out rinse the crap out of it lay out to dry. Just make sure you finish close to when u drop it off because it will tarnish quick. You can also use any thing with tomato in it acetone works very well but is kind of expensive. If you have a garage around you old parts cleaner is the best because of the hydrofluoric acid in it. Of course that stuffs really nasty but so is the smoke from the wire.

strip insul with razor, not fire, THEN recycle the copper..

If you have to burn.. try to cut the outside jacket off the wire. Less smoke and burns faster with the outer jacket not covering the copper. Most of the soft cord will pull off once you cut one end to grab the wire and jack then most soft cords will pull apart

After the wire he will bbq some lunch and then the kids will toast some marshmallows

I know burning may be simple but I would think you could strip at least as fast and a whole lot cleaner.

The minimum you could do is bild a retorte with a wayer filter, dry out the sludge and dispose as special waste. And however a lot of toxic will be released. If you check your blood, is already full of carcinogenics, heavy metals, dioxine from pvc and hydrocarbons. If you bring the cables to a recovery center will be payed less but you don't have nothing to burn and you save your health and the enviroment. Do it for yourself and for the enviroment where you live.

Burning is definately easier but i feel you lose some of the copper wire from the extreme heat.Don't know if any junk yards that don't except burnt wire.Only reason i think they mite not take burnt wire is cause of theft it could hide what the original wire was.Other than that.I am building a wire stripper to strip all the wire i find !!

I find an old pallet,get that burning at night roll me wire up like you do then throw it all on at once,it belches out thick black smoke,that's why I do it at night,then all I do is bang the ash out in the morning,sometimes I'm left with 2 or 3 stone of no2 copper,cheers mate,happy totting

This could easily just be a side job, and 2-3 buckets is about $300-$350. Not bad if you can mske $300 a day on the side. $9k a month, half the people don’t make this on there main job.

I’m not a fan of burning either but all the do gooders should have a look at Africa as about 80% of the worlds e-waste ends up there and the poorest people spend their short lives burning copper for a shitty living. Most die from lung disease or cancer before they are 30. Plenty of vids on the Tube about it but there’re pretty sad as most know they will die but have no other way to support their families. i dont think this seems like a good idea at all.... you wont get bright wire price for that fucked up black wire and some places wont even take it because i dont think your supposed to burn the wire. Also you wasted a good bit of fuel and lighter fluid to get the job done. it seems like just as much work and too messy to me, i only get a finite amount of wire so to loose on the price is too much for me to take anyway
