This review is on point. While i like the Burris lineup, it is a little frustrating when companies leave out one, or two, small features that would really help in justifying the cost.

Hi GMG! Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. I like everything about this scope, but things like that windage turret just fried me. I'm releasing a video Friday on a $400 or less scope that has EVERYTHING you would want in a PRS scope, even has Japanese glass. Talking with a buddy yesterday, we both agreed that in today's World, you're really starting to see the "pay for the name" in this stuff, as other companies are actually on par with workmanship and components. We'll see how it all plays out. Thanks for watching another on my friend!

I have two of the Burris Pro’s and I agree with your assessment. I have the SCR1/4 mil in one and the Horus Tremor5 in the other. Honestly I prefer the Gen III Vortex and run that on my Rimfire.

I’d say capped vs un capped windage is a split argument in the sport with most people leaning to dialing wind
@The4GunGuy

Hi Dustin! Totally agree and as I say in the video, it doesn't really matter to me. BUT, if you're gonna cap the turret, then make it larger so I don't have to hunt for the tiny numbers, which is why I beat them up a little over their "this is a PRS scope" print in their description. Thanks for watching my friend!

I love my XTR Pro and I feel the same way as You about the Black and White turrets lol but I have one more issue with it the elevation turret should have the same audible, clicks as the windage or at least the same going up as going down I actually called Burris just to hear from them directly that my scope wasn’t a defective one I Have an Arken EP-5 that has better turrets ….. but I still love the Glass and wouldn’t change it
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Ай бұрын
Hi Dirtatv! I agree that the glass is very good, and overall I like the scope a lot. I just wish they had added a "regular" windage turret and kept the elevation turret simpler, I never know whether I'm really adjusting for zero or not with that elevation turret and it's confusing to me. I think they just wanted to be different for no real reason. Anyway, thanks for watching my friend!

@@The4GunGuy do you set your Zero at 0 or did you switch the brass piece and go to -.4 below 0 ?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Ай бұрын
@@dirtatv For the zeroing I had it at zero. For competition, since it's a 22LR scope, I'll probably set a bit below, like the .4 you mentioned.

I think you are right in saying it should be a few hundred bucks cheaper than it is. It’s a good scope to be sure but not up there with the high end scopes. $2000 US is a lot of money for that Burris.
@The4GunGuy

Hi CSH! Yeah, I think if they had stuck with a "normal" elevation turret instead of trying to get so fancy with it, and then added a large, uncapped, windage turret, I would have been happier with the scope. Still gonna use it, but just not "wow'd" for $2,000. Thanks for watching another one my friend!

Getting into nrl22 for the first time. I’ve seen your great videos on scopes which are amazing. I’m more of the mindset “cry once” I just got a b14r and a CZ 457 varmint mtr. Thinking of using one for base and the other for production or open. Athlon, Tract, Burris XTR III, Or Pro? Or something else? Appreciate your input

Hi Omikurita! Please see my video on scope level comparison here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/it6miriom77Jkps.html which should give you a good starting point with your research. Now, if buy once cry once is what you want, then I'd look at the tier 1 scopes and my preference in order would be (ZCO, Gen III, ATACR, TT). If you're wanting a more budget friendly but still good optics and functionality, the tier 2 preferences in order would be (Gen II, Cronus, Mark 5HD, XTR Pro). Again, this is just MY analysis, please make sure you're getting something for your age, eyes, reticle preferences, etc... For example, the Mark 5HD has 0.25 mil subtensions whereas the others are 0.20 mil subtensions, it might seem trivial, but if you're shooting two different scopes, you'll have to remember which is which. My point is that if you go with say, the Mark 5HD, then try to stick with it if you get into centerfire PRS. Hope this helps and makes sense and thanks for watching my friend!

@@The4GunGuy thank you for your diligent response. To confirm your stating 1/10 MIL OR 1/4 MOA ADJUSTMENTS correct?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Күн бұрын
@@omikurita No, I mean that the MK5 has 0.25 mil subtensions whereas the others have 0.20 mill subtensions...If you look at the reticle, the mk5 will have 4 markings in between major markings (the 1.0, 2.0. 3.0 mil major marks for example), but the other will have 5 markings which will give you a 0.50 mil marking on the axis. In my scope videos I always talk about how I like a 0.50 mil mark and the 0.20 subtensions so I can think in that measurement instead of 0.25 mils...It's a small thing, but I've seen other shooters get one scope for one rifle and a mk5 for another one and get confused when they're shooting. Hope I explained it well enough, but they are both Mil reticle scopes.

@@The4GunGuy no problem. I just bought the xtr pro and capped windage was my biggest complaint too but for $1500 on the sale I got and the optical quality I’m not mad about spending $50 to fix the one bit. What sold it for me over the razor is 1) it’s way lighter and 2) I don’t like full reticle illumination. The race dials are neat.

Do you regret moving from the vortex to the burris?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Ай бұрын
Hi Synapses! No, I don't regret it for my 22LR, but I might if I had made this change on one of my centerfire rifles for competition, since that's what I'm really focusing on this year. I "like" the Burris, the glass is very clear and the reticle is very nice. I just wish these companies would actually consult with a PRS shooter and not leave out the little things, like that capped windage turret. I do think there are other options out there in the Vortex (think Strike Eagle), or Athlon (Ares or Cronus), and others that are better from a functional perspective however. Thanks for watching my friend!

Did you consider the XTR3 before going with the pro? If so is there a specific reason you chose the pro?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy Ай бұрын
Hi Tantrum! I chose the Pro for the elevation turrets, which are very nice after you've gotten used to them. I've seen reviews that say the glass between the XTR3 and Pro is not that different, so, for the money, I'd probably go with the XTR3 if you were just looking at Burris. Thanks for watching my friend!
