Manchester City Centre, including Piccadilly Gardens, must be designated a Security Control Zone for the purposes of crime prevention - anyone found within that area must by default automatically be deemed to be under suspicion for any form of criminal activity and can be stopped and questioned by the police in connection with such offences - any person going into that area, by the act of doing so, agrees to this - and further agrees to submit to personal and bag search if deemed necessary and appropriate by GMP officers

@@noelward8047 a crucial part of this is that all officers within this Security Control Zone must be routinely and visibly armed at all times and backed by support from armed milltary personnel - this will have the effect of taking back our streets, improving the perception of community safety and act as a further deterrent to all forms of criminal activity - in time, this can be extended to other areas and can be an important method of crime prevention

@paulst3599 In the 80 / 90's I would walk behind them as they walked up to the police station. I offered it to avoid their embarrassment and it worked as no one ever ran away. There again in the 80 / early 90's we didn't have handcuffs so that would have meant an arm up the back and they preferred to comply.

When those shop scanners go wrong they pick up any RFID tag, its a very common fault with them.
