I charge $200 a acre. And people pay it. Tractors and bush hogs aren’t cheap.

I'm in southwest Mo. I use a 6' bush hog. I always charge by the job. There are a lot of steep hills in my area, and have to charge for what I call "the pucker factor". I have a $130 minimum and like to make at least $75 per hr.

I don’t unload the tractor for less than $350. New tractor is being delivered end of the week and I’ll likely increase my $350 minimum to $400. I’ll also get an 8’ cutter instead of a 6’. I get pricing differs based on where you live. In my area, most guys with tracked skid steers charge a $500 minimum.

I just noticed, that's 5 minutes away from my house! Lol. I found you 2 weeks ago on here learning about the,5075e, which I ended up getting. Who'd thought we were close to be neighbors. Great videos and thanks for all the great information on the tractor and also that 12' bat wing which I'm also considering getting! 250 sounds good

I'd say that's a fair price given the time it should take you, plus the winter already has it dried up and knocked down which helps. Since you bush hogged it in the past you already know if there's rock's, steel posts, cable, or other trash, so that lowers the risk of hitting anything that's hidden. I mow unsold lots and reserves in housing developments, as well as large commercial properties, so you always have to keep an eye out for new mowing hazards. By the way, congrats on the new 5075E, that's a nice tractor sir. I was looking at one a year ago, I like the idea of adding a tractor that size with either a 6 or 7 foot bush hog for smaller jobs instead of using the batwing or skid loader on them.

How do you deal with pricing when the prior gentleman mowed a difficult acre with trees and a steep slope with 40k worth of equipment for $50 bucks??? He’s obviously paying for his equipment with another income and doing this for fun. Kinda waters down the value of a good service with very expensive equipment so bad you can’t even begin to compete. Thanks! MB in upstate NY

I agree he under cut him self he probably spent 100 plus on fuel to bring in 150 bucks 330 350 sounds more reasonable but also his location may not allow him to charge more its all about your market

How do you gauge the price.. buy how long you think it may take?? with the condition of the property. looking to start doing stuff like this thanks for the videos
@Joe-nn7gb3 жыл бұрын
I price based on a 50 to 65 an acre price or 50 to 65 an hr that all depends on how tall amount of small trees to be cut how far I have to haul thats all with 40 hp and 6ft cutter.
@theweekendfarmer75133 жыл бұрын
Yes, and Yes. If you can figure out exactly how many acres are there, most of the time the customer will know. Figure how much you want to make per acre, based on the condition of the property.

Hey man I like watching your videos. My name is Matt and I live in tennessee as well. I. Trying to convince my wife I can supplement some extra income by purchasing a 40-50 HP tractor and a few implements. It seems around here where I live there’s a lawn service on every corner but not many bush hogging/tiller/cleanup/driveway service guys. Do you have any trouble keeping busy with these type jobs. BTW...... I’m a teacher/coach and my wife is as well so would be extra money. We are trying to buy 14 acre farm so would be buying a lot of this stuff anyway. Sorry so long. Thanks
@theweekendfarmer75133 жыл бұрын
I doubt you’ll have any trouble staying busy... I stopped advertising about a year ago because I have to much to do!! If you can keep your tractor payment around $200 a month, you’ll make some money!!! They hold their value too, as long as you buy a good brand, John Deere or Kubota. You can always sale it for what you owe, if you decide you want out from under it...Welcome to the channel!!! I’m trying to upload a tilling video today, but the file got damaged. I will have it uploaded tonight!!!

Unfortunately I’ll have to finance the tractor. Plan to pay cash for implements but most our cash will be going towards property. I really like the kioti NX 5010. Any experience/knowledge with them?
@theweekendfarmer75133 жыл бұрын
@@mattclayton7851 Yeah, my Grandfather has a 45hp Kioti. They are good tractors, really tough!!! They are made in South Korea though. Not a lot of dealers in the state. So, It can be hard to get parts at times. Also, parts and repairs can be expensive. The old saying goes, you pay up front for the brand name equipment, You pay later on for the other brands!!! Thats true with most all purchases!!

Hello Scott I am looking at attachments it seems the rear attachments all need constant adjusting of the top link means getting out does JD have an Hydrolic can’t spell option. I assume if they did I would have to get another hydro connection on my 5075E
@theweekendfarmer75133 жыл бұрын
A hydraulic top link can be added to any tractor. They are mostly used for implements that have to be adjusted a lot, like a grader blade or a snow plow. You should be able to find one at Tractor Supply, Rural King, or a local Farmers co-op...You are correct that it will take up one of your SCV's. If you have your loader off the tractor you could use one of the loader valves, with some long hoses, and control it with the joy stick, Or maybe just disconnect the curl function of your loader. meaning you could still raise the loader up and down, you just couldn't curl the bucket. Your other option is to use the rear SCV, as most people do. A second SCV would be nice in this case.
