Thanks, Dave. I purchased 3 different retainers for my sunglasses recently, but none of them fit well, so I was happy to find your video which has great, straightforward instructions. I always have paracord on hand. Never thought about removing the inner strands, but that tip was an "a-ha" moment for me. Cuts down on the weight a bit & made crafting the ends a lot easier for me. I found a spring release cord stopper on an old drawstring bag & put that on to adjust the fit as you mentioned. The only addition I made was adding a 2 high-vis oval fishing floats to the cord before making the looped ends so that if my glasses get yanked off in the water, the floats will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the river. No trip to the store for the entire project.

Rather than spend hundreds on prescription motorcycle goggles, I used your method to keep my prescription sunglasses on my head, now i won't have to worry about shoulder checking and having them blow off. Thanks man!

The instructions were perfect. I was able to make an exact copy of yours, right down adjustable knob in the back in less than 15 minutes using basic tools. Good advice on the add a couple extra inches part. Total material cost = 32 cents.

Really cool video taught me exactly what I was looking for. Not really a 'bush' person but these tips are good for the urban jungle as well. I didn't use parachute cord but a nice shoelace - turned out awesome. Thanks. Also from the way you describe things, you sound like a good person that cares about what he is explaining, makes listening that much more pleasant.

Thanks! It was really fun and if you leave in the inner strands, you'll have a ton of backup cordage.

Great video! Want to make for my hubby. One question, what's the compression lock for? Adjusting length?
@BushcraftDave
@BushcraftDave 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Denise, thank you for commenting I love interacting with like minded people. I use the compression lock to shorten the length so that it fix the sunglasses to my head, kinda like googles- so they fly away into the ocean like what happened to a friend of mine lol 😂

Good video. So I was thinking a few things: So to keep the cinching portion of your strap from interfering with your ear, create two cinching loop instead so that the cord attaches to the arm and holds the cord parallels with the frame. The next thing would be to use some sort of non slip material for those of us who own frames with a narrow end on the arm of the glasses. As an alternative one could actually use some elastic paracord, just some thoughts. Keep making them videos and I'm going to see what else you're doing on your channel..

Could you clean it up with heat shrink tubing over the end that holds the glasses.
@BushcraftDave
@BushcraftDave 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen people do that. I’d be careful though, I haven’t used shrink tubes and I’m afraid the paracord might get damaged? But I’m sure if you’re careful you can do it

That’s a fair analysis. Some people like doing these projects for fun and they have paracord lying around. Plus if you’re in a situation where you need cordage, it’s there. If you use survival cord w/ a metal wire for traps you’ll have lots of options on top of the inner strands. Thanks for your input 👍
