About Us:
Hi! We're Mike & Kerry, the proud owners of a 1992 Bluebird rear engine (pusher), 40' school bus! We named her Bussy McBusface in honor of the RRS Boaty McBoatface travesty!
We built a Tiny-Home-in-a-Bus for full-time living in the most adventure-friendly way possible. Bussy was never meant to be parked in a driveway, waiting for weekend trips or holiday getaways. After we finished the build, we packed everything we kept into the bus and drove away from our old house and into the world of off-grid living, aka boondocking, and endless travel adventures!
Since we planned to be boondocking the majority of the time, we made choices such as; a 100-gallon water tank, an Air Head composting toilet, a 1500w solar power system with 1000Ah in AGM batteries, etc. We'd love to have you stick around and follow us on our journey, from our Skoolie Build Series, to infinite buslife adventures beyond!
Mike & Kerry

If PB blaster doesn't help with the sticky throttle, Seafoam might. I found snow chains in a front compartment of the bus I bought that had sat in PNW for 15 years. They were pretty much a block of iron and I couldn't get a pry bar to move them. Dumped half a can of Seafoam on the top of them, the next day they pulled out like I was getting ready to put them on the bus for a winter mountain pass. Amazed me!

I've also heard multiple stories of cops stopping people who are tourists in regular cars & said they need a California driver's license to drive there & then some said to live there. The people are always like "I don't live here. I'm a tourist" and the cops still don't care. I don't think I'll ever visit there. New York would also make me nervous. It's crazy!

I love watching your adventures, I would do a Schoolie and live that lifestyle in a heart beat. My husband however isn’t excited about that much travel. He is my Anchor, I am his Sail. We have learned how to compliment each other. So, we travel as much as we can for his comfort level. How did I miss that Mike was from Santa Cruz! Bay View Elementary School, Mission Hill Jr. High, Santa Cruz High School, I lived on Seaside Street behind the McDonalds on Mission Street. When my husband was in the Navy we lived on the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station in the MOQ’s. I spent many hours out on Padre Island beach. My husband grew up in Wisconsin we’ve been here now for 40 years. Can’t wait for your next post. Mike do you remember when the transformer blew at the Moss Landing Power Station, it had to have been back in the 60’s. The whole Monterey Bay went dark. The stars were amazing that night! And Kerry, the day after this post I had to go buy one of those little Sandwich makers. Happy Trails to you both!

Hey guys! Mike, you have something drastically wrong going on in that motor. You should not have any soot on your Jeep. Take it from a truck driver, I haven't seen soot like that since the 90s when I started. Your burning oil or for some reason burning diesel very poorly. Do some googling and see what you can fix on your own since i know you like working on your rig. I've also mentioned Hot Shot Secret products before. They can help you get your rig running more efficiently. It's not snake oil products and no I don't work for them. Love the videos, living vicariously through you while I have 15 more years of work ahead of me before i can live in a skoolie.

Great camping spot on the ocean. Long drive from Texas. To help with your air throttle problem. Shorten your throttle return spring at the governor or add another return spring. The throttle lever at the fuel pump governor should have some resistance to moving. The air cylinder really has no resistance. That’s why you only have fuel throttle or just idle. If you have more return spring pressure you will have more control of your throttle. For the black soot exhaust smoke on your car. That’s incomplete burning of the fuel due to lack of air. When was the last time you changed your air filter. The other thing to help with carboned up injector tips is to run 1/2 quart of automatic transmission fluid dextron 3 in every second fuel tank fill up. Will take a couple of tanks to see the difference. By adding automatic transmission fluid to your fuel it will also give lubricity to your fuel injection pump and injectors. The ultra low sulfur diesel fuel has no added lubricity to it. That’s one of the reasons why a lot of Diesel engines have fuel injector pump failures due to no lubrication in the fuel. That’s was one benefit from sulfur. The automatic trany fluid will help clean the injector tips. I have been doing this since the 80’s on my Diesel engines and when I work for Cummins. Good luck and keep producing those great videos Cheers

@@BussyMcBusface Air cylinder right now is stronger than the injection pump control lever. Your throttle control spring is tired. Doesn’t have enough tension to pull back on the air cylinder rod. That’s why you have full throttle or idle. The return spring pulls back the throttle lever when you back out of the throttle pedal. You then should have full control from idle 650 rpm to your full idle 2100 or 2300 rpm. You might have to play with different springs to get more return tension on the throttle lever. It’s very common for these return springs to wear out over time. You should also have a spare or two. It’s very common for them to break. If you have any questions email me. Good luck

.actually thought about doing something like that but the fabrication was just too much. I would have to run it up the side of the bus Which would get in the way of some of the screens that I need to open to change filters or service the external radiator.

@@BussyMcBusface hmmm yah that could be bothersome , maibe you could make the stack in two parts that slide intoo eachoeter with the parting above those screens , that way you can leave the top part of the stack mointed and still have acxess to those screens , i dont think blowing the smoke down will do mush as theres a lot of buffeting behind the bus where the air that goes around surtanly dont have a busbody in the way Another option might be to move the exhaust so it dumps out near the front wheel , but that prolly only blackens the whole side of the bus

Does she keep hoping that you're staying put for a while? 🤔🐈 That bfast sandwich maker looked amazing. What a cool idea. The almond trees were beautiful. ❤ I planted a mock orange tree in front of our house to get the fabulous blossom smell in the summer. They don't fruit cause we live in the tundra but the smell takes me back to when we lived in FL. 🌴 The otters were adorable. We did an otter encounter for my 55th bday last week and they swam a bunch and then rubbed all over us to dry themselves. 🦦🤣❤ Favorite quote from this week 'The absurdity of this could not be measured'. 😕 Have a fabulous time on your new adventures! ❤❤ -Troy & Aimee

It's easy to get used to and kind of fun. We communicate while we are driving so if Mike is going to break hard or something he tells me before he does.
