Sorry folks, no mud here. The rain went on a vacation this fall and it was wonderful. Beans were dry, the soil was dry, all was dry; nothing more delightful. Other than the fan belts and a bearing needing fixed since the end of last season, the combine repairs were minimal. In season fixing has been limited to a connector link for the unload auger chain. I'm telling ya, dryness make everything better. Which, I want some insight on the tip of the wet kernel staying on the cob and how that plays into yield loss.

Jacob, it's all about the numbers. And with the very tight margins we have in farming today, you have to squeeze every penny you can get. The inputs are so high and yields unpredictable we have to control as many factors that are within our ability. If you have to combine beans later into the night to pick up moisture, that's what we do. You're giving the elevator money when you ship them beans below 13%.

I solved a similar problem with the chopper by raising the pan under the rear beater at the back of the rotors up one hole. That way everything got thrown to the chopper. Looks like part of your discharge is falling out before it gets to the chopper.

That spread pattern would work nicely for what we do. Rake 2 passes together and round bale it for cattle roughage and bedding, the manure gets it back to the field. We have a 2x12 on the shallow side of our smaller gravity boxes. That makes us unload on the door side of the wagon (You must have edited out the first dump that ran out on the ground?) and cures the distance problem without over-filling the heavy side of the wagon.

So, I've been catching up on your entire channel and am curious. Who is Brennan? Who was, and what happened to Brad? Brennan seems like a decent guy with a good head. He definitely tries hard. Nick seemed to be an interesting touch of entertainment but less than beneficial to the operation. Great videos as always. Hope that new camera keeps working. Looking forward to more Boehm Farm action!
