me, and many of my friends tried this game when it was first available, it sucked. We couldn't understand anything, some card decks felt infinitely stronger then others, we all uninstalled and that was the end of it. I don't think releasing the button 2 years ago would have saved anything. The game was just not appealing, that said this button has convinced me to give it another try.

@@oAZTECKx1I actually agree and disagree. It definitly didn't feel special when it first came out, I had a similar experience. But the button would have helped a lot two years ago. When I eventually tried LoR again, it was in a much better state, and it was receiving regular balance patches, but it was lacking new player influx.

League players in LoR aren't really new customers for riot, it's also their game lol. If they spend more money and time in LoR they will likely spend less in league. But on top of that so far people were much less interested in spending money in LoR than league so it might even be a net negative overall..

League players are not new customers for riot. They probabaly won't earn them more money because they likely spend less in league then. What they want are new people that their other games haven't captured yet.

It's so good to see other Riot games supporting LoR . i only recgonized Mortdog from TFT and Phreak from LoL but it's so good to show a lot of support and warm welcome to the family

I don't get why this wasn't done when the team was actually bigger and PvP was still a thing... This very idea was suggested so many times by the community. Honestly happy for the PoC folks, but I'm so terribly sad for us PvP people. This feels like adding insult to injury EDIT: Since there is confusion in the comments. The official pro league, and bo3 are gone, the ladder is technically up. Imo, and for many other PvP ladder players, there's no incentive to play though, since there are no more PvP balance patches and no new PvP card sets.

I dont understand the perception that PvP is gone. Could you explain it to me? To my understanding the only PvP change we got in the shift was that we lost the Runeterra tournaments/gauntlets/whatever theyre called now. But to me, we shouldnt have expected to keep these systems, which are far more extra than most competitive systems in other games.

@@nixsnowsong6732 There is no ranked PVP at all. PvP exists casually, as in you can play your friends or basically norms, but there is no competitive aspect at all, including a simple Elo system

@@nixsnowsong6732 The new cards will not be created or balanced with PVP in mind. Riot has stated this. The game is no longer "competitive." PVP now just something to do between grinding POC which is how they want it. That's why I quit.

@BeStudioz idk, the way I interpreted that post was that the primary focus was PoC (like making new relics and powers for new champs) but we'd still see PvP support. Which is why we still got rotation and will be seeing rotation more than once a year now.

LOR was having retention and financial issues well before they decided to shift focus from PoC. The button was going to change that and the only reason they killed the PVP scene instead of letting LOR sit as a loss leader forever was because its parent company took a massive hit. No amount of buttons on Valorant or League's client were going to save that.

I dont understand this take. People either joke or legitimately think that PvP gamemode is gone and that theres no competitive system.. but there is, it never left. We only lost the extra top of the top competitive tournaments, which we shouldnt have expected to have

And we've also lost PVP expansions too, which is the main important part. This vex/lux/lillia expansion is the last one as we knew them before, right? New expansions will just add a new champ to Path of Champions and a few cards with them

@@sagittariusa2145 because most other smaller card games don't really have these big tournaments. Unfortunately LoR isn't a big game and it couldn't sustain those additional game modes. Especially because the general player base didn't interact with them either. And the whole "the next expansions are exclusive to PoC" is speculation. That's not been confirmed afaik. We know we'll get more expansions, and it's pretty likely that they'll continue the trend of having the same basic needs of being playable in PvP AND PvE. That's kind of why we'll still be getting rotation every few months now instead of a year. They're leaving room in PvP for new champions and cards.

I played when it first launched but was put off at first because I don't understand & know how to deck build. Months later after seeing @Bricky reviewed it I instantly reinstalled and gave it another go just to see Sea Monsters, Darkin, and Celestials card arts and lore. Been loving and playing ever since. I 100% recommend it 👍🏻

Making a button of this kind was a very often requested feature to bring more players into LoR even before the single player mode existed. I am honestly happy for the PoC people getting more content. But introducing the button so shortly after killing PvP... it does sting.

@@itsgonnabeokay9341 Nothing. Except LoR started as a standard PvP card game. Then for whatever reason they decided to switch to a PvE focus and fired Rubin. I suspect a lot, if not the majority of people got into LoR because it was comparable to Hearthstone or MtG. Oh, and at the moment on Twitch there's like 4 people streaming it. Not an completely accurate indicator of how well the game is doing but it's a fairly significant weather vane.
