Hi, did you ever see an episode of them actually taking it out for drive? I just saw these episodes today and put this comment on: I assume you do have an episode where you take the 'deep sleep' tbird out and actually drive it and maybe to the drag strip? Where do I find it? I have looked all over your YT channel and web site and can only find 4 episodes with this tbird , with this episode seemingly the last? Can you provide a link to an episode where you actually drive it? Thank you

@@BuzzLOLOL I appreciate the 3 period (...) missive at the end of your declarative statement. Man, you GM fan boys really know how to put people in their place. Please keep trolling Powernation so we can get things right with your guidance. This "build" has a TCI Six-Speed Automatic Transmission based off the gearset and case of a GM truck 4L80E. Its a fine transmission if you have $9K to spend and really need a 850 HP 6 speed that does not have double OD. Long way from your Silverado truck tranny sport. Maybe you should try to understand how PN acquires parts for showcase builds? Your dopey remark doesn't make this a GM build Buzz Boy. Stick with college sports watching.

@@BlueOvalEdge - I'm a retired GM engineer... the new 10 speed automatic is a collaboration between GM and Ford... how are you going to whine about that? @@BuzzLOLOL I don’t know what “prolly” means but I went to real Aeronautical Engineering school where they didn’t teach internet geek speech. The Ford GM 10-speed automatic transmission collaboration was announced in 2016, so thanks for keeping us up to date on current events. I liked your “back in the day” crack. So lets take a look at “back in the day”. You’re a retired “back in the day” GM engineer are you? You should be proud. During your “career”, you contributed to a failed car company that in 2009, after it received $17.4 billion in tax dollar bailouts, went bankrupt, wiping out shares of tens of thousands of common stock holders. Furthermore, GM took $49.5 billion in federal TARP money where the government only recovered $39 billion resulting in a loss of $10.3 billion shouldered by the tax payer (again). Were you the engineer that developed the Northstar OHC V8 epic failure of an engine that forced GM to upgrade a pushrod V8 where the rest of the world went OHC by 1996?? Were you contributing to the downfall of GM when GM chairman, Roger B. Smith said “Americans will buy General Motors cars because they are Americans”? Maybe you were there when GM pulled so many stunts with the American factory worker that the idiot Michael Moore made his “Roger and Me” movie after GM closed its factory in Flint, Michigan, eliminating (another) 35,000 jobs. I actually think you’re lying about being a “retired GM engineer” but if you are, shame on you for what your failed car company has done to America. As for the “new” GM, good luck, they haven’t paid their shareholders a dividend since March 2020.

@CASPER 12345 ; Wrong. Typical BS. "Btw I'm talking facts not feelings". So you refer to the Ford name as f.o.r.d? I guess your acronym means, found on road dead or fix or repair daily. Grow up. Factory Camaro vs factory Mustang (except of course 1974-1978 Mustang II), the Mustang GT's have owned Camaro's ass since 1965. Fact. Even the Mustang II's out sold Camaros. 305 tuned port sucked ass. Fact. Chevy had to resort to the trusty 350 just to compete with the Mustang 5.0. During the IROC years, Chevy had their own little racing club. Not 1 loser ever. All IROC Camaros finished 1st. You have to spend $20,000 to go half as fast as a Chevy. Get outta here.
@cobracharmer6178
@cobracharmer6178 4 жыл бұрын
@CASPER 12345 ; Yep, I've seen many Fords with Chevy small blocks the last 40+years. So what? It's still a Ford. That's like if you received a heart transplant from a donor who's black, that makes you an African. Your exaggerated $20,000 Ford, lets say the 351 Cleveland, can only go half as fast as a $10,000 Chevy 350 is an absolute dumb remark. There's a lot of biased attitudes in the engine business, especially against Fords. So a Ford piston cost $100 compared to a Chevy piston @ $50. You better crack open some Summit Racing or Jegs parts catalog, and you'll discover that $ for $, the prices are about the same.

I myself was actually going to buy a 97 formula firebird transam ws6 package cause it's faster out of the box 14.1 to 13.8 stock (driver mod) but the aftermarket support is bigger and cheaper than a damn Honda.

After reading a few of these comments, I get the impression that after all of the previous episodes featuring an impressive power train build and the labor intensive installation of everything required for a first class power upgrade, that additional videos showing how awesome this project should have turned out are not being made available ? That just can’t be right. Not proudly displaying the results absolutely defeats the purpose of the entire project. I have a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with the 5 speed manual transmission that I’ve owned since it was new. It’s still a strong runner but the turbocharged and inter-cooled 2.3 liter four cylinder in the somewhat heavy T-Bird could definitely benefit from a well built V-8 upgrade. Watching this video series provided some good information about what to expect during the upgrade but seeing the results in action would be great.

Bad Donkey I was thinking the exact same thing. By not using a shroud you might as well only be using a radiator that’s the same size as the fan. I had overheating issues for years before I realized that a simple sheet metal shroud with some spacers for the fan significantly increases the cooling efficiency of the radiator.

@@crashcourseinbruhsurgery Feeding 650hp on a stroked small block Ford would be hard through the efi manifolds available 10 years ago not to mention tuning at the track is made much easier. Antiquated or not, carb is superior for full race where peak power is key and carbs make it easy to dial in quickly. Plenty of advantages moving an air fuel mass through a single plane vs a dry air charge through a dual plane efi manifold. I'd take a distributor and carb over modern efi just due to the simplicity. It's also cheap to buy the 80$ fuel pump, a 100$ regulator, and a used 750 Holley to support 500hp on a tiny budget.
@madmod

@danielwilson6665
@danielwilson6665 4 жыл бұрын
In an automotive application, the Direct Current (DC) power system ground cable has to support the same amount of current as the positive cable in order to complete the circuit. A smaller gauge cable has a higher resistance to current flow which causes problems like putting an increased load on the alternator and a voltage drop throughout the electrical system. So you’re doing right by using a bigger ground cable to match the positive cable size. When I upgraded my audio system amplifiers, I also installed a high output Mechman 240 amp alternator along with their “big three” cable upgrade package that uses huge 1/0 gauge cables. No more electrical worries !!!
