As a former electronic technician and lover of great music, I greatly enjoyed and appreciated this analytical comparison of 300B tubes! I know the Chinese tubes are criticized and was very curious how well they would REALLY compare to a popular “audiophile” brand. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your testing. I will keep my shuguang kt88 instead of upgrading to gold lion since it is pretty much similar. Shuguang has been performed very well in the past three years. Greatly appreciated.

To my ear the Shuguang sounded much mellower, more depth, and had greater grip on the classical music. But I judged solely on the sound. It seemed to have more presence. Thank you for your interesting video.

1. Great video and presentation Young Ahn. 2. With computer speakers, etc both the Shuguang and the Gold Lion 300B's sound very similar to my ears. Certainly the Gold Lion tubes appear to be constructed better than the Shuguang so my main thought, when it comes to purchasing either of them, would be which set are going to give the longest and most reliable service. My guess the Gold Lions would be more durable but that would not be as easy to test. Only time would tell. Thanks for the excellent upload. Puget Sound area of Washington.

Shuguang isn't stupid. They provide a good product for a decent price. They know lots of audiophiles want to enjoy tubes like the 300b but would never buy such an amp if they had to pay $300 per tube. I heard a lot of boutique tubes are made by Shuguang but branded under other names. I understand that they are the tubes that simply test better than their common tubes. I don't know if that's really true or not.

Based on your findings I would buy the cheaper of the two.

Think about Shuguang 2A3C it is 2.5V version of 300B. The adventage, the filament is center tapped, I replaced my 300B with 2A3C with 2×0.5 ohm resistors in series on the filaments.

I used to have those Klipsch RF 62 too. You cannot put 'em this close to the rear wall. At least 30" away.

I’m late to this video, but found it to be very useful. I’m curious if you had any negative experience with buying Chinese made tubes. I’m never sure if these are legitimate tube or fakes. Example would be Linlai tube 300d are these the same as Linlai Global 300b or Shuguang black treasure 300b that cost 40% less. The price and service is great but are these tubes legitimate?? Brian

On the hearing test I felt the Gold Lion with more attack, detail and are more Dynamic.

My problem is, I can't tell any difference whatsoever. The digital sound on KZfaq doesn't have anywhere near the resolving power of a single-ended triode amplifier. There could be differences, too subtle to be resolved by this digital media. I am using studio quality headphones, which also is limited by the resolution of digital audio. I tested a 300B triode, with a 1kΩ pullup resistor on the anode, and it resolved a square wave at 2 megahertz. 2 orders of magnitude above the human hearing range. these tubes, and the amplifiers that use them, are as good as any signal source you can possibly have, thus, I doubt you will ever hear a difference in a "blindfold test".

Useful information about the electrical properties and testing of the tubes. However, that is ALL this test is - a test of specifications. It says NOTHING about how they sound, and all the people below arguing about the sound are wasting their time!! A KZfaq video proves nothing about sound quality.You'd have to be IN THE ROOM with the system to make sound judgments. Duh!

I had kt88 gold lion reissue , Black diamond telenfunken both waste of money. Shu guang black treasure and Psvane KTii are so much better. I had EAT too ,,, but the price is too expensive and it lasted only about 3 years .

Its a total rip almost identical in sound.

Floor noise of Gold Lion is greater.

I did not ear much difference betwen both, in sound .I think would buy cheapest one (Shuguang)

Whenever a amp comes in for service here and has china fire bottles inside they get tossed first and not tested, sorry have encountered enough failures over the years no chances are taken anymore.
