I've bought an MG ZS Mk2 and so far it's only problem has been frozen windscreen washer fluid (put in by the dealer at the service) that froze and forced off the pipe from the jet. The heater is pretty naff during really cold periods and the winter range is awful. That said, I can get close to the advertised range in the summer in good conditions and A/B road driving. I've just checked the SoH of the traction battery and at 16,500 miles, it's showing 98.2% so I should have 89% at 100,000 miles if that drop is consistent.

I bet Tesla got a tonne of useful data out of James's old battery - probably best-case real world data for a battery that had really been looked after.

@@NicolasRaimo true, but also being able to xray or even disassemble individual failed cells that have seen real world use would be a massive win. I work in consumer electronics 🤓

I have a 14 plate Mercedes e-class on 350000 miles on the original engine and still running sweet. I bought it with 300000 on it and have spent 150 quid on repairs in 4 years and 50000 miles excluding brake pads tyres and oul changes. Think i will stick to diesel. I also own a Peugeot 508 diesel with 270000 on it. I bought it at 200000 miles and have spent about £2500 on repairs over 5 years, but this is a works car and carries a lot of weight and is abused, lots of stop start driving.

There's Tesla Model S with original battery on half a million miles, no car is made equal everything has a different life and ware also your not the first owner so you only have any paper trail left which may not be the full story some people try and hide evidence of new engines etc... I don't know why they do but I've often had people trading cars into me telling me they never repaired anything its been a prefect car then I find loads of new parts replaced

Were you trying to indicate that it's uncommon for a battery to fail at 150k miles but it's common for an ICE to fail at that mileage?

good video and im going to tempt fate here as shot myself in the foot. 14 is that 2014 with 100k thats alot and i know he has had alot go wrong. I got 2011 jazz with just over 117000 miles and the only thing thats been replaced is a rear offside caliper thats it original everyting and she still going strong. japanese relaiability

Many many many ICE cars exceed 150k without costing £14k to fix 🤔 most other owners would not have KZfaq credits so would be shafted ,also Tesla not honouring a warranty only 3 months expired ,pretty poor .

@@NicolasRaimobeg to differ almost any ice car will top 100k miles with few issues ,and then it's mostly wear items like clutches ,this tesla was treated very carefully by the owner but still failed costing a fortune ,I would lease a tesla but not buy second hand as warranty too short and potential failure that would right off the car for most people .

My last ice car was a 206 2.0l It made it to 166k miles before repairs were uneconomic. Engine, drive, brakes were all still fine. In the end no matter what the car is it's about the economics.

@sRaimo being charged 1k for a battery repair vs £14,900 it's a massive difference the average bloke would feel Scammed All the Talk about fuel savings "14p per mile" , 😏becomes completely pointless & Waste of Everyone's time 🤨😬

@@niceboy60 we don’t know if Tesla would of truly charged this price to anyone as they likely wanted James to spend his credits. Most people would of written car off if that was full price, I see petrol and diesel cars everyday that have repair cost far beyond its value

@@NicolasRaimo I know people who paid this prices, for a regular guy to pay close to 15k Is likely to pay 18k with interest that's £375 a month for 4 years, all in name of saving fuel 🤔🙄
