Start a go fund me for that young man. I'm sure your followers would love to help him out . If all of us sent .25 to .50 he'd have a new bow in no time. The pawn shop new better.

I'm glad that I found this video: I was going to buy a used Mathews as a backup. I guess that I will put that idea on hold for a bit.

Thanks for the info. The knowledge that Mathews still makes parts for their very first bow series was a factor that influenced my purchase this year. A bow is a major purchase for me. My last bow was a 2009 flagship model of a given brand. I broke a part on it due to my negligence. When upgrading after eleven years (because I had to) I discovered that parts availability was limited after five or so years. With lessons learned I purchased a Mathews. In my opinion, the current bow manufacturers are building a fantastic product. If you replace a bow every couple years, the long term product support may not be an influencing factor for your purchase.

Hence the reason I bought two. And I still had to make several adjustments to make it fit. Ordered the V3 31 a few weeks ago. Whoop!

Thanks for making and sharing this video. It is a really important topic. I feel for that young man. I myself have been thinking about getting a newer bow than my 2006 PSE. I have found some good deals on Mathew's, Bowtech, etc... on Ebay but I just don't want to buy something like this without handling it.

Also be careful buying a used bow at a pro shop. First bow was a used Creed at 28in and the pro shop guy said it fit me, to only find out a year later my actual draw length is 29in. BTW he told me I needed a 28.5 and when I pulled back on the bow for the first time he said looks good. Didn't know how to shoot was leaning my head down so set my peep too low. After teaching myself how to shoot realized I was shooting with bad technique and raised the peep. Still wasn't comfortable, then finally measured my own draw length and everything clicked. Couldn't believe it.

Bought a used rx 3 no. 3 cam with quad rest for $1007 best deal ever. Took to the shop and they said am not even 27 inch. At most am 26. Told them just drop it to 27 at most and I’ll make it work. Am not pin point accuracy because that’s my first bow but as far as hitting the center am on.

I got lucky-the Parker ultralite 30+ I got is super adjustable. But I wish this video would have come out before. An entry level brand new bow would have been a much better choice. Now I’m torn between spending the money to re-string an 8 year old 60 pound bow by a defunct company, or buy a more modern 70 pound bow....

Is there anyway to tell how old a string is? I bought a used Mathews Switchback XT that I found a cam for in my draw length, but the owner said the string is pretty new.

Dude!..I ran into the same problem with my Hoyt that I bought used!..draw too short...but I was new to archery... didn't know anything! I should of just bought a new bow! After new strings and tune I was more than half way (money wise) to a flagship bow that would fit... ignorance 🤷🏻‍♂️

I sold my buddy my Hoyt hyperforce and it ended up that he would have to swap cams, limbs and strings and cables just to make it fit him. I just bought it back. I’m either just going to keep it for collecting or maybe set it up for 3D or something, idk. Sucks it’s like that with these things

How much for the cams on your Vulcan XT 500? LOL! My grandson bought a used Vulcan bow, the draw length is too long for him. I’m checking around for cams for the bow. Unfortunately it sounds like we’re between a rock and a hard place! LoL! He needs 27inch draw cams. If there’s any suggestions. I would appreciate it. Thanks. Good video.

Ooo yeah that’s a tough one. Then it’s going to require new strings as well because different cams require different string lengths on the home Hoyt’s. I’d probably just sell the bow and keep looking for something that’s more adjustable.

What is Sad is how much money people have to spend for the entire set ups and the companies screw people by not making parts for those bows forcing you to have to buy a new bow. That is outright WRONG and DIRTY. I KNOW Most all Businesses have gone to that RIP OFF SYSTEM. It should be like vehicles where someone still makes those parts.

Love most of your videos man but...10 or 12 shots till your string/cable breaks gtfooooo probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard in any archery specific video. Not to mention your Vulcan or my katera is like 10-15fps from today’s flagships and yours is a nostalgia piece? Mine sits in the tree for 80 days a season and shoots better then the ventum. With 10yo strings and cables 🤣🤣
