Too bad your purchase wasn't "anonymous" it might say more about the quality of goods you receive instead you probably got the cherry picked order to make sure it all looks nice when you got it. That said, you really need to be careful with getting stuff from wholesalers, if they came from California laws involving what medications they can proactively use means disease are running rampant through their systems, and it's a very easy jump to get it directly in your tank, I know you're "keeping it real" by not QTing, but here's hoping nothing happens to your tank.

Thanks for the video. When acclimating a fish that’s been in a bag for more than a few hours, the fish respirations cause carbonic acid to form, making the water more acidic and decreasing the affect of any ammonia (on the form of ammonium). When you open the bag, the carbon dioxide is released and water pH immediately increases and so does toxic ammonia. So it’s better to either temp accclimate and drop the fish in or if you’re going to drip acclimate then add ammonia neutralizer like Amquel. Otherwise the fish are sitting in toxic ammonia during the drip process. Agree with other comments regarding need for quarantine tank.

@@daredevil8667 it only matters if fish in bag 12-24 hrs. The longer in bag the more it matters

No doubt about it lol🥵 I believe quarantine is better than pop and drop if done right but I don't have the time to properly take care of a QT tank. So I'm just being realistic. I'll probably kill more fish in QT than if I just put them in my DT

QT before. Doesn't make any difference. They will still get parasites if they are stressed and their immune systems is down. As for feeding training, it will learn by watching other fishes feeds.

Yeah those types of wrasses hide in the sand and he had nowhere to go so he was frightened but yeah I would give them a shot👍

Some of the fish didn't make it because they went carpet surfing or just wouldn't eat but I've still got the hogfish and Mandarin that are doing great

Relatively new to the aquarium hobby. 3 healthy, thriving freshwater tanks. Thinking about getting salty. What are the things on the front glass behind your (his) head looks like mounted to the front glass?

Welcome to the best hobby ever lol and if you're think of going salty... Do it. Those things on the glass are magnets holding things to the inside of the glass one, to the left, is an algae clip and the one right behind my head is actually a frag rack, holding coral.

Ordered 4 Twin Spot gobies, only 3 shipped, a longnose hawk, 1 copper band butterfly, 1 Mandarin, 1 Blue spot Watchman, 1 Clown tang subbed with a flame angel, 1 Yellow longnose, Not shipped. Everything shipped beyond tiny. Only thing alive after less than 2 months was the longnose Hawk. Mary was extremely helpful during the order process. But no. I will never order again. And yes I did quarantine for two and a half weeks. Over half the order never made it to the tank.

Lights should be off when temp acclimating. To not stress the fish and markedly raise the temp in the air and water in the bags. Is not quarantining at least use hydroplex at end of drip acclimation.

Yeah, I’d stay away from these guys. I’ve purchased several fish in the past and some lived, some didn’t, but it was weeks when they died. However, I just purchased a Harlequin Tusk and he died within about 30hrs and they said basically go kick rocks, that’s your problem. I thought they would at least make a small exception to their terrible policy of on 3 hours after delivery, but nope. I would think twice before purchasing from them.

Just checked them out. Haven’t seen any deal on coral. I’m stocked on fish I just want coral. Either coral was out of stock or twice as expensive as any where else I’ve looked.

I know. The coral is the trick. If you find it cheap it won’t be healthy. If you want it healthy it will be priced high.

Your playing a game of Russian roulette not QT your fish word of warning I made this mistake and lost £600 worth of fish due to marine velvet destroyed my fish in days ever since I've had a QT running separate, literally takes no effort to QT fish if that's what your worried about

You've got a lot of options look into blue green chromis, gobies and blennies and wrasses. No tangs in a 40 gallon

You could do one after years of cultivating a large population of copepods and amphipods in your tank. Also a fuge helps. I didn't feel comfortable adding one to my system until the ecosystem was about 3 years old
