"Age Of Nihilism"? Maybe I'm missing something, but all societies still, and will always, consider traditions and trends (doesn't matter how absurd or harmful) as flags to be waved and worshipped so their lives "make sense" and think that life carries a metaphysical, grandiose and subjective purpose... unless you're mistaking depression, sociopathy or anything else with "nihilism".

@@marcbolan1818 A lot more than in any other previous stage of History, yeah, but just due to an obvious math issue (the overwhelming amount of people simultaneously alive right now); still, not related to that "nihilism" thing and most of the same people making that question are either just coping/joking (living, or trying to live, a normal life) or just mentally disturbed and/or pathologically sad but, again, nihilism is not correlated with mental illness per se...

The Buzzcocks was just as much Diggle's band as it was Shelley's. I'll miss Shelley's songs and presence as much as anyone, but I won't hate on Diggle for keeping the band going. That's what Shelley would've wanted.

The Buzzcocks' strongest and most prolific songwriter was Pete Shelley. If Shelley had reformed the band without Steve, I would have said 'you can't call this Buzzcocks' and the same goes for Diggle doing the same without Pete. I think he should have called it "Buzzcock" (singular)

Nice to see Steve wanting to carry the torch, but when Pete passed it was a very sad day for all of us. There went the voice, the pop writing genius, and that can't be replaced. I said this before, if they really want to want to pay tribute to Pete, get Howard Devoto back for a UK / Europe / USA reunion tour, and play Spiral Scratch and the Times Up Lp in their entirety. Steve handle some of the other songs that Howard was not part of. The tour would be great !! Steve is the only original in the band left, and of course Howard was the original singer. Don't bash Steve for trying, nothing but respect for him as he was and always will be one the originals in the band.

I'm a HUGE Buzzcocks fan. Yes this is weird. There's obviously a HUGE presence missing, and that's why this is hard to see and hear as Buzzcocks. Sorry Steve. I know you're trying and I understand. The song is decent and could easily count as one of your good songs on a Buzzcocks album. But call this something else other than Buzzcocks. Pete Shelley was too big of a presence to just go on without him and still call it Buzzcocks. Unfortunately for Steve, Pete's presence and aura was much bigger than Steve's. I hate to say that but I think most would agree. Much love and respect to Steve though!

Who is the target audience for this? I'd assume a die-hard Buzzcocks fan wouldn't want to hear them without Pete. Casual fans are going to just go to the classics before anything like this. It isn't anywhere near good enough to attract a new fan to the band. It probably won't get better, but it can't get worse.

This is a bit sad, really. For a start, it's not even a new song (it's an older Steve Diggle solo tune), and the verse sounds like a kids' cartoon show theme. The chorus is a Ramones sound-alike, and the whole thing is over-repetitive to boot. And sorry Steve, but trying to re-create the classic 'What Do I Get' video and hoping some of it will rub off on your 'new' song is more than a bit desperate, especially when you look like the other guys' dear old bewildered uncle. Sorry man, but punk rock and 'dad pants' is an ill-starred combination...
