When my mom gets rotesserie chicken from Costco or Sams club, she usually gets the one with a lot of soup in the bottom of the chicken and then she makes a soup with the chicken and adds spinach and mushroom. She seasons the soup and all that with soy sauce and a lot more. But to get to the point it is soo good, especially with rice! And I’m gonna try to make what Rie made all the stuff she makes fancy looks so 💣

That rotisserie chicken is called a "loss leader". Something cheap to get you in the door you will buy and then stay and spend $$$ on other things. Costco knows what they are doing by selling it that cheap.

In addition, I believe they do own the farms. When she asked that in the video, I think she hit the nail on the head.

@@kristinagroves they only built the supply chain. Farmers still own the chickens themselves, but sell to Costco through their company Lincoln Premium Poultry. They just built the plant to process the chickens into either parts, bagged chickens or rotisserie chickens from the smaller ones.

@@Mikinoarisu np. I had to google it myself just to make sure as I had never heard if they owned the farms or not. Another thing is, Costco is offering farmers 15 yr contracts to supply them with chicken. Bad thing is, they aren't offering any financial support in said contracts to help farmers convert or build new chicken barns to help with the "quota" each farm has to supply. The farmers are taking all the risk on that side. Should something happen to Costco or they close up the supply chain, those farmers are stuck with big debt and empty barns that are build for 1 use only.

It's not just Costco that sells them cheap though. Several grocery stores sell them for around the same price. They're most definitely not making much from it, but not losing from it either.

It's really nice to see a recipe so easy to recreate. It's better since you can find Rotisserie Chicken pretty much everywhere. Some of the items used before are not available in most countries. This is probably my favorite episode so far!

Yum!!!! I love Costco chickens! I’m single so when I purchase one, I take the meat off of the bone, divide it into meal sized portions, and freeze it. That way, I have chicken whenever I want it and can use it in a myriad of recipes. It’s an awesome value.

I do know how to cook; partly its shelf life. I have to buy stuff at the end of the month, that will last me 30 days. I can get a flat of ramen for less than 8 dollars which is my lunch for every single day of the month. Hard to beat that. And I like how it tastes, and I add shredded cabbage, which is also cheap and lasts a long time.

I think I’ve watched every KZfaq video of hers. I’m a little bit in love with Rie. Kind of like that favorite neighbor that you just love to visit with when she comes by. She’s knowledgeable, funny and seems very kind. And, yes, she’s also very pretty. This episode, as always with Rie, was interesting, fun and surprising.

Delicious! I've never had coq au vin, but I've heard it's good. I'll have to find a place that does make it sometime. The last time I had a Costco Rotisserie chicken was when my mom bought some, but wasn't sure what to do after the crispy skin was gone. So I used the remaining chicken to make it into omurice. My mom and sister loved it!

My family shreds the chicken and rolls them in tortillas and then fries them to make taquitos. We usually eat them with a little guacamole, sour cream, salsa verde, shredded lettuce, and cheese spaghetti as a side dish. Sometimes we cook the cheese spaghetti with tomato sauce and it's delicious!
