We drive the BYD Seal, a promising entrant to the executive segment of electric cars. While it's a Tesla Model 3 competitor internationally, in India the Seal will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq5, Kia EV6, BMW i4 while offering better value than most of them.
PS: This review isn't as technical and comprehensive as we would have liked, because BYD gave us only a limited time with this car and when it arrived, it had only 16 percent battery charge left. We had to cut it short as range anxiety got the best of us.
Missed out details include its aerodynamic efficiency, special battery placement, Taycan inspired details, suspension, energy consumption, charging speed.
Funny because we thought range anxiety would be a thing of the past this in this 650km range version.

Superb review with all the technical details required for a potential buyer of BYD Seal. Even a few car guy friends of mine have no much idea about BYD as a manufacturer. But this one model must be a very good introduction to many people who look for a premium sedan in electric avatar. I would prefer buying the base varient as I feel it has an adequate range in the present scenario of electric cars. Excellent presentation, bro 💙👍🏻😊

Thank you Vivek for this excellent post. Over time, EVs are becoming more mileage and pocket friendly. We are however a few years short of assessing the service life of the power packs, considering that the investment is still high, in my opinion.

Am an automotive design engineer.As per the current market conditions Chinese car makers are going to be dominant over traditional oem,s in the upcoming years.They have already done this in the current european markets by giving crazy features at cheap price tag that other manufacturers don't even think about it.

Good pricing from BYD, I guess the price you have mentioned is Ex-Showroom.. On road Price in Kerala Dynamic - 45.68 Premium - 50.65 Performance - 58.79 Premium is definitely worth considering for its value! After test driving the car, a couple of things caught my attention: the audio system's output sound could be better, and the AC feels a bit underpowered.

Find your reviews well researched and to the point. Your earlier reviews with your partner were also excellent. Clearly you love cars and driving. I am not convinced that electric cars are going to save the environment. The hype surrounding EVs is not justified. If you look at the US market you will be convinced that people are turning away from EVs. Hybrids are more in demand. Driving since 1973, current vehicle is a Tiguan (2023). Do continue with the good work!

Short and Crisp.. First time the thought of buying an EV crossed my mind while watching this video... If ever, I always thought I would buy a small ev like a Punch or something for city errands but not an expensive sedan.. In that context, I just wonder how good/robust are the mechanicals of BYD/Seal when pitted against the German trio? That's the foremost thought in my mind since rest of the specs and even crash safety is covered well... would like to hear from you on this

BYD claimed they are taking losses on the SEAL selling it for an affordable price. Seal is the car with which they aim to popularize byd in india. They have already fixed 7 newer cars to bring to India. Seal being priced low and being premium will set a good image of the brand acc the company which will boost the sales of future lower priced EVs they plan to sell in india

EV യുടെ കാര്യം എന്തെങ്കിലും തീരുമാനിക്കണമെങ്കിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ കമ്പനി നൽകി വരുന്ന warranty period കഴിയണം, means v hv to wait 4/5 yrs. warrenty കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ ബാറ്ററിയുടെ life എന്താണെന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾ പറയാൻ പറ്റില്ല, warranty കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ സ്വന്തം കാശ് മുടക്കി ബാറ്ററി വാങ്ങണം, Battery pack highly expensive, ചുരുക്കി പറഞ്ഞാൽ ലാഭം പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ച് EV വാങ്ങിക്കേണ്ട, ഒരേ ഒരു കാര്യം No pollution.
