I find the materialistic nature of young people worrying. Ladies, ask yourself: “Will this man stand by me if I lose my looks to illness or an accident?” Men ask yourself: “Will this woman stand by me if I lose everything?” Take notice of the same sex parent of your intended. I knew my late husband was “the one” when we were dating and I watched his father care tenderly for his mother as she died of cancer. I knew that man was raised in a home with the values that were important. I was right. We spent many happy years together until cancer took him from me at the age of 60. He was a repairman, so by your standards he wouldn’t be “high value”. To me he was worth more than any amount of money or gold.

An old rich man, the way you say it, would go for a young very attractive woman, because 1. he is not interested in her money, he already has, 2. he is not interested in a young mom, he doesn't want to be a father for her child 3. he can have much more attractive woman, he has choices while she hasn't, 4. he most probably doesn't want a romantic partner to be also his business partner, when he goes home he wants a beautiful wife. I repeat, that man by assumption already has money, so he wants something different that can provide what he doesn't have yet.

Good point: average is better - significantly better - than below average. Many want to be above average and we think that because we think it, it most certainly is true. Perhaps the effort to be above average and the work to do it, is outside the purview of most people. Also what makes people think being above average will make them happier than just being average.

It’s true. I have always attracted high quality men regardless of how much money I earned, and I started making over $100k in my mid 20s. Not only did no man ever inquire about my income, but they offered me things that I didn’t want, need, ask for or accept. I was operating in a whole different level than these simple chicks. Money is only an issue or discussed when one of you does not have enough.

When I married my wife, I made 55K and she made 40K. I told her I was going to quit my job and pursue my education, and she supported me during that time. Three years later we jointly bring in 200-300K a year. The point is if you see the values - hard work, vision, commitment - of the person and you too compliment those values, there is no limit on what your relationship can accomplish financially. Therefore, to only focus on who a person is when you meet them, especially financially, you are bound for disappointment. People are too focused on a person's resume, instead of what you can build with the other person. My wife saw something that a lot of other women did not see. We, as a couple, could accomplish and produce way more than we could apart.

That gets lost in translation a lot. Building together is rewarding and valuable in itself, and can happen at any age. These ladies want it all handed to them. How about finding a person who you have a strong connection and chemistry with, and go from there.

@@bwink23 Exactly, we take so much pride in what we have accomplished together. Too important a point that so many miss. Our blessings manifested after marriage. It took many break ups during dating to establish the boundaries necessary for success. It was not easy but it was definitely worth it.

I tried encouraging young men in applying for good paying jobs and I get , " that's not my thing " . They are looking for jobs that matches their personality and social schedule...GTFOH !! Hustling in making moves that will help them move upward in income aren't their attitude today .
