10 жыл бұрынWatch Byomkesh Bakshi's first episode Satyanveshi which starts with Bakshi taking up his first case. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

I also turned 47 this past December and just as with you, a lot happened with me. I am sorry for the loss of your dear mother. I lost my parents as well. Well, Babu Ji, I have lost a lot in life since the 90's. It seems like a losing streak. I am another Ajit Babu. Just that, I don't live in a lodge but in a flat. I am a very simple person who drives Alto LX gifted by my dear parents in 2001. You're welcome to write back to me if you feel alright with doing so. I revisited now with the same expectation and even remembered the "raaste ka kaanta" episode and the cycle bell. But today I was shattered to find out how innocent and gullible I was as a kid ... कितना अच्छा समय था वह जब दूरदर्शन पर प्रसारित होने वाले कार्यक्रम इतने साफ-सुथरे और ज्ञानवर्धक एवं प्रेरणा दायक हुआ करते थे कि पूरे परिवार एवं मित्रों के साथ देखे जाते थे। आजकल तो टी वी बन्द करके ही बैठना पड़ता है।

I remember watching this as a kid and absolutely loved it. In a world full of boring melodramatic serials on star plus, when this was broadcasted again on TV, it was a completely new experience for me. This show introduced me to this completely new genre and altho I initially I couldn't quite grasp what the idea was behind this tv show, I found myself being extremely intruiged by it. I still cherish the feeling of curiousity I felt back then along with bittersweet nostalgia of being a kid.

For those asking how the door was locked from inside, you will find this answer in the book, for those who haven't read, the lock used is an Yale lock. An Yale lock actually locks the door from outside, but the doctor being the murderer lies to Byomkesh saying it is locked from the inside. And apparently the Yale lock can only be opened with a key from the outside or without a key from the inside. Assuming one condition that there were no duplicate keys and the original was inside, they had to break the door. But yes, the question does occur, why there was no duplicate key with the doctor. Maybe old times.

Thank You! But when the doctor leaves the room after the murder, he seems to be just leaving it, not even closing it properly. If he comes at a later time, he would be surely noticed. But it could be argued that that portion is Bakshi's narrative description of what happened.
