I noticed not a lot of drillers use C4 this way, which is a shame because it aides the team in such a massive way! If you are a driller and find yourself not using your C4 very often, please give this setup a try. You and your team might end up liking it a whole lot more than you may think.This video is essentially a " tips and tricks " for the satchel charge.

These videos are really high quality. All I can think to suggest is including gameplay clips to demonstrate the strategies as you describe them; it would help the viewer better understand the sort of situation they should use each strat in.

Another good way of doing it is digging about 10 meters in, make a crater and then you seal as much of the entrance as you can with a ring of fire. With the Sticky Fuel OC the fire lasts for 14 seconds, slows down enemies and all the while does HEAVY damage to everything including even oppressors. This way you can solomelt an entire horde! Johnny Cash would approve!

may have to try rockmover, I mostly use satchel charges as a kind of "ohh shit" button when I have a swarm on me, running away and tossing one behind me, that or if I'm in a rush and want to mine something quickly, like in an escort mission.

now if you noticed he strategicly use it to expand the space but he did it in a way so the swarm died to it so you can do that and it delays the bugs some i think i need to maek a few changes tho

I also find rock mover better out of the three options. Mostly because whatever can be scared is usually dead after C4 and there a lot more spammable options for stagger.

That's what I really love about this game. It's not really as much about power escalation as much as it is giving you a set of tools and asking you to use them effectively. The upgrades to the Scout's grapple aren't exactly mindblowing, but you can always clearly see a difference between how a novice scout moves vs an experienced one. I never really thought much about this perk, using the C4 as a glorified second grenade, but after seeing this I really have to start experimenting with it. Hoping your channel will get more exposure with the game's popularity.

I was never really that big on driller in the beginning, prompting more towards the high mobility of scout. But as I've seen better and better drillers it's really dawned on me just how strong and fun driller can be - stuff like this giving me new ideas on how to use tools outside of pure combat are really interesting and really make taking up new classes I never really tried like driller fun. Great video :)

Favorite thing to do in Dense Biozone is to find the big Yellow Coral Balls and hollow them out with a Satchel Charge and make Houses to mess around in during slow moments

Not alot of driller do this but when they do, it makes the lives of other class much easier, specifically scout and engineer (better line of sight for sentry).

You make some interesting points about the C4. In particular your brief presentation of the use cases really helped to sell me on it. I previously saw the Tier 4 C upgrade as a hindrance because of people making massive craters in the middle of the team's fighting space or sometimes even right underneath an uplink. Seeing how easily it can improve a space during the limited time a team generally has when they need it I can see how powerful it can be as a utility.

your bunker video is the first video of yours that i saw. when i watch videos i dont really pay much attention to views or subscriber count- but based off the video i watch, i had just assumed you were a larger creator in the drg scene. this was because of how well put together and nicely edited the video was, how good the audio quality and editing was, and just.. all of it. obviously there are still areas where you can improve (as somebody else here said, put gameplay that matches what youre talking about when applicable, and possibly some enlarging of stats/basic animations to explain and lay out the numbers and situations of what youre discussing, almost like an uncle dane video) but this stuff is really good- i was genuinely shocked when i realized you had only 870 subscribers. please keep making these videos, im pretty new to this game and your videos are genuinely helpful. im genuinely excited to see that cryo vid, as im struggling currently to understand when its better to use flamethrower or cryo, and am wanting to understand and learn new ways to think about the weapons as i did from this video. thank you for making such amazing content, and thank you for teaching me more about this wonderful game

Excellent guide. I've only been using C4 for large clump of enemies or "heavy" enemies. This is a great insight for me who has only started the game a week ago

That's an interesting juxtiposition, that craters are basically the funtional opposite of bunkies. The former is for when more space is needed, while the latter is for when less space is needed. Also the forboding way that driller shakes his head after the dirt explosion makes me laugh. Great video!

2:04 A controlled environment. That is what a Driller should do, control the cave. That's why he likes to talk about "rock smoothies". You see to few Drillers actually doing just that. Creating shortcuts, opening up the area as to see enemies earlier. C4 is also very useful to open up area FAST while in a swarm, when your drills would take too long... or put you in harms way.

as driller main; another thing i found really helpfull was when fighting a lava boss, after a while the whole floor is just damage ticks. So i opened up a whole chunk of the pit we were stuck in, so we had a better place to fight from

Great Videos. Got about 1800 hours into the game myself. I have seen a few of your vids and basically agree to everything you say. The only thing I would have to add is an advice for players around the driller. Pay attention for, and get out of the detonation zone. Often I find myself not able to terraform without killing a teammate, which doesn't respond to the shouts, bleeping sound or aoe indicator at all.

Been playing with the Carver C4 and it's been really fun. I'm that guy that has several stars after 3-star legendary on Gunner and even then I was making adjustments to terrain to herd the bugs. Thats been my focus with Driller lately since he's so well suited to it. Funny enough it doesn't much. Even a single crater often has the bugs going around it, which means more clumped bugs which means prime targets for Flamer, Grenades, Autocannons, etc.

It’s also a great mining tool. Yes, the second pistol the driller unlocks is excellent for mining as well, but I find it blows through ammo very quickly and forces me to use my primary ammo more often. Using C4 for quickly mining difficult to drill areas is also a useful tactic when you want to avoid using that pistol.

Such a large C4 detonation radius would REALLY come in handy when looting the gold ball from a Crassus detonation which normally takes ages.

ok i just got the game and it took my 45 minutes to mine the whole thing from a crassus lmao satchel mines minerals??? thats fucking nutty you dont like damage or lose out on any gold this way?

Sneaky Wow, 45 minutes is a long time, did you do it in a group or alone? To get the maximum amount of gold from a Crassus you should lure him into a narrow tunnel since on the explosion all ground/wall/ceiling that is at the border of the explosion is turned into gold. And then it is quite cumbersome to get all the gold. And to quickly get all the gold you can use a C4 satchel charge which ideally should have the same (or larger) detonation impact radius as the Crassus explosion. And with the "Rock Mover" upgrade on the satchel charge you get such a detonation radius, albeit maybe a bit smaller. I did not have a chance yet to try this, maybe if you have an engineer with you he should be able to put up some platforms up and downwards from the top of the gold ball so that you can place the C4 charge roughly in the center of the gold ball, or in case of doubt a bit more up than the center since esp. the upper gold is a pain to get to. I will definitly try this out when I am playing Driller and encounter a Crassus. It is not easy to be able to lure the Crassus into a narrow tunnel since all dwarves should get to the tunnel (since you do not know where the aggro of the beast will be at) but you need to make sure that the group survives 😅 And no, you do not lose any gold this way, it is not destroyed by the C4, just transformed into gold clumps the same way when you are full and continue to dig gold.

As it turned out in my recent experiments, the Rock Mover Upgrade for the C4 Satchel Charge is NOT really useful for mining (esp. not for mining a Crassus gold ball), since the ~15 meter radius is only affecting rock digging but NOT for digging of any minerals, this seems to be limited to the smaller area where damage is applied, like 4-5 meters or so. Well, that was very disappointing......

As a fellow Driller, I use c4 for damage. Sure it can clear spots, but if you wanna be strategic like that then just mine it out with your drills. I like to make a death tunnel where i can freeze everything coming in and my mates can shoot them. Plus ill add a little pocket in the entrance for my c4, if we get over run i blow them up and dig back a bit more. Fun stuff tho

Wait, the driller, making space in rock? No way, unimaginable, driller is known for their flame thrower, not excavation! Ok in reality this i already sorta knew, i have used rock mover since the get go, but i mainly use c4 to mine jadis, enor, and aquarqs because i was new to the game and didn't internally understand how they spawn. I rushed a promotion with driller, played nothing but for a while, but now that I've ACTUALLY played other classes i have gotten better at mining the minerals mentioned, I'll use this info well, brother ROCK AND STONE! It never gets old!

as soon as i had last tier possible to choose, i got excav mod (more ammo follows hand in hand then). if you rely on c4 for damage you have problems in other departments generally. also a little tipp, correct me on this if not applicable anymore, if you run deepdives in between stages you get all c4 back, so not possible to waste it near the end. too often i see people just dont using their tools, being afraid to have nothing left i assume.

also, if youre fortifying a position an there a large, flat floor ahead, a could c4 craters spaced slighlty apart in the floor makes the bugs group over the small bridges you make, same for a wall

I'm a scout main, followed close by gunner . Driller and engineer are my secondary but I love to have knowledge of the other classes so I'm not useless. I'll definately be considering this tactic next time. I'm more of an utility ranger class with the scout. I have the hover mod for my m1000 and the ability to do a double hook shot to gain greater heights or controlled landing is one of my specialties.

I just thought of a build like this. Do you combine the hover mod with Hover Boots and Special Powder on the shotgun? Are you able to chain more than 2 grapplings? If so, how many and in which situations is it useful to maximize air time?

@@StingerAJ great question. I make sure I have the lowest cool down on hook which is currently 2.5 seconds and that is fast speed shot mod cause I rather have almost immediate response. Unfortunately the shotgun powder hasnt appear yet but it would be great as ive seen how it works. Need to grind more. Hover in itself can guarantee two shots with the 2.5 cool down. I use it for repositioning or getting difficult to reach enemies; sometimes a pretorian or spitters is up high on the roof and I just hook myself up take shots hovering and then shootdown for safe landing. Repositioning is also great as I can shoot up / hover and align to a new location if I can use the momentum. I use hover as well normally if cave complexity is very high and if its sandblasted corridor scout excels in that region. The problem is that Ive gotten so used to it that when I have to use another build, I forget and proceed to crash land :D
