I have had lots of different seats in different Corvette's, but I still prefer the sport seats in my C5, they are very comfortable 👍

I upgraded my C5 Z seats to Corbeau Evolutions Xs...Amazing seats. Love them. Changed the car completely. I don't feel like I'm driving while sitting on a squishy sofa anymore. Highly recommend.

Thanks Buddy! I appreciate your vids always. This is great info because I am in the process of looking for my C5, and if it has higher mileage and/or seats are badly worn, I’ll need replacements. Unfortunately, just as I’m ready to enter the market, all ‘Vette prices are just ridiculously high! I’ll have to wait for them to go back lower…or save more moolah if not. Merry CHRISTmas!

I still have never bought seats for my Z06, due to this debate I have with all the options shown. My true desire is to go with some sort of OEM Recaro, because they tend to really labor over allowing easy ingress/egress but support and true quality. I have a few seats I am watching but...those cheap Amazon seats are always a temptation. I've even gone so far as to consider partner manufacturing a seat specifically for C5/6 people...time will tell. Good vid.

I have the evolution x seats in my C5 and the fit amazing. I thought he fixed back was going to be an issue but was pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable and keeps you nicely in the seat. I'm 6 foot and weight 205 lbs. Not an issue at all

Hey Ken Merry Christmas to you and your family. I love my C5 sport seats in my 03 with that being said I am only 5’7” and 160 pounds. So that makes it pretty easy for me to get in and out of. I’m very adamant about getting in and out of my car because I’ve seen the damage that can be done in a relatively short amount of time. Thank fully mine were takin care of by the previous owner. I have also been contemplating getting after market seats but being short and the AM seats being taller think I’ll just stick with what I have. I’ll probably just get some good high quality covers to preserve them being that it’s an Anniversary Edition and replacement covers with the 50th logo in the head rest run about 1200.00 from Ecklers. Any way thanks for another great video look forward to part 2.

I'm looking at the C5 in a whole new light and appreciate your suggestion to go the supercharger route however I've been getting a little spooked with the EVAP code peope seem to talk alot about. @Toys4Life hello! I think it's the Evaporation emissions sensor. I also think it extends to C5 and C6's. Jay Leno talks about it in detail at 8:40 in his Tiger Shark z06 video. The more I look around about this I hear it's a pain but could be as simple as a gas cap replacement or as in depth as wires in the body panels being shorted out. Thanks for the reply!

This is a topic that definitely interests me. My seats have a mere 35k miles on them but they show that they're 24 years old. For me I have a hard time with the look of a lot ofthe aftermarket seats in C5s. Personal preference of course I think many of them just stand out like a sore thumb. Very boy racerish. You know like a riced out honda civic with a carabiner hanging off the back bumper lol. I do like the look of C7 seats in C5s but boy are they pricey. Great video as always!

I hear you and agree some of them definitely stand out. Certain days I like that look and other times I like the look of the stock seats. I do want more support though ..... I even rented aToyota Camry a couple weeks ago for work and couldn't stop thinking to myself my God these seats feel really good and supportive! Great content, thank you! I just picked up a pair of Braum seats but ran into an issue. Love the way they look and feel but they are slightly too narrow in the back of the seat, hitting the seat belt trim. I have heard about conversions to change the seatbelt out in the C-5 Corvette to C-6 seatbelts, the problem is I have not run across any videos that shows good instructions how to do so. It seems like no one really goes into details how to go about this, which is really in my mine a major step. As of now I’m still doing research how to go about this. Thanks again, your Channel is a plethora of information that has been very helpful to me and my son.

@@Toys4Life Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s to you and your family. So I have been studying the seatbelts as well, come to find out there seems to be three different types of seatbelts for the C6. At least from what I can see on eBay. From what I can tell after studying my C5 it looks like I need the seat belt that has three points of contact in order to work. Hope this information helps you as well. I’m going to buy a set off eBay and see how it works. Hopefully I can give some good feedback once I receive it and get working on it. I wish you luck on your future endeavors as well.

nice video on an interesting subject, I really enjoy the way this channel presents information. right off the bat, I knew we were going to part ways, when the video pictured running high speed cones as how the car was designed to function, where I consider the car more of a GT. True, it won't hold you in the seat during track speed maneuvers, you have to brace up against the door for that, a poor and only momentary solution. But america is a big country full of wide open spaces, so if you are going to take the car on a road trip, or a date, comfort, along with the ability to shift the position of your hips once in a while , is the key. Besides those aftermarket seats are clearly styled and designed as race seats, and who are you trying to kid, you drive a street car. The previous owner of my car used the car to visit friends in Las Vegas, a five hour drive , on a good day. Another owner sold his because he had a slanted parking space at work, and could only park in one direction or he couldn't exit the car. Every seat design is a compromise, if you prefer a seat design pointed more toward a specialized use , live it up.

Another great upload on a greet subject!👍👍 Corbeau are NOT on my list. I went with their seats on my '76 Restomod, which effectively was 20112 Vette on a strengthened/modified C3 Frame. Anyway, I hate advertising for most vendors and I was not going to buy them with those All Caps CORBEAU lettering! I contacted them and they said, "no problem. Well eliminated the lettering for $500 or the pair." I spent the money to NOT have their lettering, but as I write, I have buyer's remorse on that stupid move. On your comparison, I like the Amazon ones. Plus, I definitely want moveable backs, because I need to reach the reach rear storage area from the front at times. I also want the seats on tracks to move them all the way forward if needed. Looking forward to you next upload. Save the Wave👋👋

I love how the oem interior feels in a c5 vs the c6/c7. But I agree 100% driving a c5z how it should be driven the seats don't hold at all. I do love my c6 4lt seats though.

@@Toys4Life what you're saying is you need c6 seats lol The side bolsters are adjustable at least on the 3lt/4lt cars. But unfortunately it's still too much like the c5 and doesn't do much for holding.

I'd struggle to buy the Amazon seats. It seems you almost always get what you pay for. A year is not much time. Those Corbeau seats look like a great option. Great video as always!

@@Toys4Life the only negative I've really considered is resale value. These seats are made for a specific body type, so your pool of potential buyers is limited. Otherwise, the quality is great, the modern look is awesome, they are supportive and comfortable, and I'm glad I made the switch

I used Braum elite x seats with planted seat brackets using c6 single real seat belts attached at the upper real position factory location then bolted in where the factory lower seat belt real was after you remove it with the c6 belts single plate with the hole in it , and you have to cut the lower stock seat belt real cover a bit to clear the seat adjuster and again remove the factory lower seat belt real which is very easy, and not even noticeable when done correctly you can remove that plastic piece set the seat in the car , and get a good idea what needs to be cut . I wish I could post pics because this set up looks like it came from the factory this way ...The stock better sport option seats do not compare to these in any aspect , and the braum elite's unlike many cheaper brands are made very well internally, and available from ebay for around $800 a set ... these seats are just a bit lower, and longer to support the legs way better , and you are set in the seat like a catchers mitt to a baseball LOL ! they should of made them this way to begin with what were they thinking ? ....

These seats are mechanical, so I’d be losing 6 way electronic adjustment, as well as memory seats to automatically adjust depending on the driver. This is an essential feature in my opinion, adjusting the seat perfectly horizontally and vertically is key when sitting close to the ground like that. I think the corbeau seat may not even adjust horizontally/vertically at all, which makes them more sturdy of course. The leather and foam of the C5 seats can be replaced, I’ve already done it once or twice (my first seat looked somewhat like that gray one). Also, C6 and C7 seats can be installed in a C5 and electric seat adjustment will still work. Used C8 seats are new enough to not have to replace the leather, and look even better than the corbeau, except for the side airbag that’s not used. Doesn’t look like you can buy new oem corvette seats? The C5 seats do look very dated.

Anyone looking to buy aftermarket seats for their C5 needs to sit in the seats before they purchase. I love the the look of the Corbeu Evo's but under 2 minutes of seat time I knew they werent for me. I am 6'3 tall, 260 lbs with 36 inch waist. I hated the Evo's for me. I sat too high, lacked thigh support and couldn't fit with a helmet on. If you are of average size/build they may be a good fit.

@@Toys4Life You’ll definitely fit better than I did. Which was the first hurdle I could not get over. Then there is the comfort factor. Comfort is so subjective, so that’s all depends on what you like. I had a few friends and acquaintances that I was able to sit in their cars with aftermarket seats. I’m sure folks will let you sit test their seats at Vette events.

I just saw your video about the C5 and if its a reliable daily driver. You mentioned you swapped out the Borla Exhaust for the stock exhaust. I just bought a 1999 6 months ago and I think I may have the Borla exhaust with the ringing and droning noise right around 2K RPM and def at higher gears. Can you make a video about your exhaust modifications?

One thing I do like about my stock C5 (non-sport) seats is the memory option. Have you found any aftermarket seats that solve the known C5 issues (or at least some of them) and preserve the optional memory capability?

I have not. That having been said, this does not concern me though as I am the only one that drives my C5 and I tend to leave it where it is.

I believe the memory box is mounted under the driver's seat. There may be some creative wiring you can do to retain it, but why? How often are you changing your seat position?

Do all seat replacement upgrades require you to lose the side motor button ability? I've never replaced seats but it's something I'd like to do assuming I don't lose he ability to adjust the seat electronically.

You would lose the electronics. Most people feel like they set their seat and forget it anyways so not a big deal - unless multiple people drive car - which is rare for a C5.

Fair question. I am torn on the seats. Since I don't autocross I don't have any issues with the seat not being supportive enough. I do have the sport seats - vs the regular style and they are in very good shape + I do like the way they look. If I had the base seats they would be gone - as I think they are very bland looking. I am going to a decent size Corvette show soon - hoping to find a couple options to sit in before plunking down the $$$

I actually put the Sparco Sprints in my C5 Corvette, and I really like them! I don't daily drive mine, so harnesses and fixed back seats weren't really an issue! But, they're SO much better on track! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mdthnr1pv66wcmw.html

@@Toys4Life Absolutely! Thanks, I appreciate it! I will admit, I did enjoy the stock sport seats for casual driving. They are surprisingly comfortable and much easier to get in and out of (obviously). The biggest issue with the stock interior, in my opinion, is the steering wheel. It's gigantic! Of course not everyone will want to get rid of their airbag, but between the Sparco seats and steering wheel, I'm a lot happier on track with my C5.

Honestly the stock seats SUCK, problems like seat tracks break so the seats move etc. They are ok for a grandpa driving slow and straight only;). Repair and upholstery of the stock seats is also expensive. I’ve got nice ebay bucket seats with dual colors under $300. They work great and are tight fit, most seats need to be swapped driver side vs passenger side. The vinyl does not hold up in humid conditions too well. I’ve got another different style seats I’ll put in in spring. Overall much better option for c5 if you want the seats to hold you and are inexpensive. Make sure you get them narrow as possible and get the correct seat brackets. I’m sharing my experience;)

I bought the Sparco R100 but cant get them to fit. They wount go all the way back and are to tall so my head hits the roof. Im 190cm tall and 43inch waist.... Wish i knew if i wold fit in the evo x

@@Toys4Life Yes i sendt the R100 back. But still havent found a seat to fit. What this video dont considder is to get the seats all the way back for us that are considdered "Big" :-). Im considdering Braum but not shure if it will fit even with the C6 harness mod

A small update on my jurney to find fitting seats. I went and bought C6 seatbelts. This means the roller that the C5 seatbelts have on the floor can be removed and i gain maby 6-7 cm at least of room. Now even with this mod im not 100% shure if seats like the Corbeau A4 XL (38") or BRAUM new Falcon X(38) seats or the Orue (40"). I know the BRAUM Elite X fits but just bearly with OEM seatbelts (And im shure like the Corbeau A4 cant be pushed all the way back). Spending 1500-2000$ on seats you want to be shure it fits.... Frustrating not knowing 100% :-)

Unfortunately they used too thin material and they rip/tear way easier than comparable euro cars.

Yes I think any of us that have a waste bigger than about 36 or so probably want to stay stock - or be very careful in which seats you buy.

I would think the deep tub design of these would be fantastic for road racing but horrible to get in and out of if you daily the C5 much at all.

My ass hurts sitting in a plush office chair making these videos for 8 hours at a crack! Pretty sure 100,000 miles in any seat it's going to make me want to burn it! Point takea though, definitely worthwhile to sit in a couple of these if at all possible before buying!

I wouldn't trust vet on vettes analysis. As I've worked in a junkyard and have seen sportscar seats in wrecked cars frequently. Literally the width mashed to half the original width with blood stains and hair by telephone poles and other immovable objects. NEVER go for cheap seats. Unless you want to walk with one leg the rest of your life.

Can't say I disagree about cheap seats in general but C5 stock seats are very weak if flimsy and I would not trust them either in a serious accident, hell, even a semi-serious accident accident.

@@Toys4Life any side impact with a fair amount of speed would be catastrophic with a telephone pole. I'm older so I need the stock seat comfort to drive any moderate distance. But if I do track it I would splurge for at least the drivers seat for safety reasons. They do need to be as strong as possible. Thanks!!!
