I went by an orange C8 today on 1 wheel and I must say that although I’m sure they’re fast cars, they just don’t look as good as the C7 as I’m ripping by on 1 wheel at 120+.

TheCaptainmojo1973 - Yea those C7s to me are a classic; desirable in several ways. I could definitely envision a C7 in my garage and polishing it regularly. They were the choice of several retired guys and gals I know. After so many long years of toil, we can use something nice.

It's not the mid engine most people have the issue with. It's the Corvette badge that could have been anything else. Plus discontinuing and replacing would have drove sales to skyrocket and the "c8" woulda been sold for more. Gm didnt learn anything from that bailout lol

The C7Z is the best car I have ever owned. I Sold mine earlier this year but , it was such a great car. Plus i had light mods on the car and it make 770hp to the crank. The car was a beast. The car was good for 10.6 in 1/4 with no slicks.

Nah, Zora Duntov, the grandaddy of the corvette always envisioned it with a mid engine. For the c4 in 1983, he wanted it rear engine, but the chevy engineers couldnt fulfill his wishes. Every generation after that had thoughts of mid engine, but were shot down due to cost. The c7 was supposed to be mid engine, but the 2008 financial crisis ruined it

Chevy wanted to make the Corvette mid-engine ever since troops came back from Europe decades ago and talked about how fast mid engine European cars were. I seen it in a Chevy Corvette documentary. I don’t know why it took Chevy 60 years to finally make the Corvette mid-engine.

Chevy knew they could make their Corvette just as fast as the more expensive european exotics at a WAAAY better value/price. Heck, if Chevy would have just made the Corvette mid-engine from the start. America 🇺🇸 would have BEEN had our flagship supercar! And a fine good one too! Perfected and refined decades later all the way up until this present day in age. But we FINALLY got our mid- engine Corvette. We just gotta play a little catch up.

I got my C6 at a used family subaru car dealer, 50k miles for $23thou.. one owner. If I would have waited 6 months I could have picked up a C7 stingray for 49 thou.

@@renaissanceman5847 I bought a c7 in December from Corvette world. Their prices beat everyone. The dealerships are too high on used ones. They usually give people way too much on trade in, trying to sell something new.

I bought a c7 grand sport LT2 in December '20 with only 3k miles. I paid 64k for it. That same car is going for about 77k now.

Bought my 15 with 56k miles for 35k dollars and a 14 with 80kmiles is going for 40k dollars now

@@alexr9514 there is a datson z curvey LS swap with a Magnuson that was 700 HP. It's the best combination I have seen. The funny stuff works, I just like all the power all the time. He is a good driver, that car wanted to go sideways, he corrected like a boss. That year Camero is a fast food handling car.

I've seen videos of them running in the 10s with just the addition of drag radials. The fastest C8 listed on the CF C8 fast list ran 10.66@126.54 with drag radials & 100 octane with a passenger seat & wing delete at Maryland Int'l Raceway on April 3, 2021. Fastest base model ever for corvette, as others have said how is a sub 12 sec car not considered fast? When we finally get a ZO6 C8 it will clearly beat the previous generation, that's probably more likely to happen before anyone cracks these codes.

I would dearly love to still own the vehicle but given what they are worth today I would be loathe to drive it for fear of fire, flood and famine. 107RON doesn't help either. The profit I made on the car was wisely invested on more usable assets which, if sold today, would reap the same value, so no monetry loss, just the pride and joy of showing it off. I still have the memories though and they are priceless.

@@ImagineBaggins take a look at yourself first before throwing labels on others. It is obvious that C7 Z06 reacted slower and launched later than the C8. A properly prepared C7 Z06 that has done burnout, driver mod, and fast reaction time should be able to launch somewhat fast on a prepped track.

It’s way faster from a roll. Trust me I know because I rented a C8 Z51 coupe and smashed it with my C7 Z06/Z07 manual. Gaps were hilariously massive and the C8 looked straight up slow. It’s all in the easy launch for the C8

Nissan GTR had that style transmission since 2008 and having owned one those transmission shift much quicker and much more efficient. Easily knocks off almost a full second in 1/4 mile.

The C7 is getting more and more affordable. C5-c6 are dirt cheap. I'm holding out for the C8 - thing looks like a literal fucking supercar

Shooks Reviewks - Yes I noticed Corvette evolution. All I know is when I had my stove bolt 2007 Impala SS in for service at the dealer back in about 2014. I fell in love with a to die for Corvette in the showroom. It had that see through hood panel. I believe it was a Z06 and as I remember it was 110K. That car in 2021 is not passé by any stretch of the imagination!

@@carlcampbell6827 I'd rather a 2020 C8 than a C7 Z06. C7Zs are going for 80k, and if you are patient can get a 3LT Stingray for that price which will blow the doors off.

@@MrJrolon1975 The stock c8 had a slower time. Getting across the finish line was a product of the drivers leaving at different times. If they both had similar reaction times the C7 would of won by a couple car lengths. In other words the C7 is a quicker car but the C8 had a better driver in that particular race.

@@brianlb78 That's exactly my point. The C7 is a Z06. It's got 155 HP advantage over the C8. This shouldn't have been close, just goes to show the C8 is on another level, better launch control, better gearing, the dual clutch on the C8 is great. Wait until the new Z06 comes out.

@:V The Z06 has 155 more HP than the C8, and in this race, the C7 was coming up fast behind the C8. Did you not see the trap speed at the end of the race?? ? The C7 was 4 mph faster. That 650HP was just kicking in! The C8 is similar to Tesla at launch, off the line quick. But, it lacks the HP to keep pulling many of its competitors. I'm sure the new C8 Z06 will destroy almost everything that approaches it.

I can't get over how ugly the c8 wheels are.

I like my c5 and all but out of the last 4 generations (being c5,c6,c7,c8) I think if I could do over I'd wait and get a c7.

@@lockonstratos7787 C7 comes a close 2nd place for design in my book. The rear kinda spoils it for me. I prefer the simplicity of the older design. It goes with how smooth the rest of the car is. Problem with the C5 is really the underpinnings. C5 body on a C7 chassis would be my ideal vette...and a C2 for the occasional cruise. The C2 is one of the best designs in automotive history. So fkn sexy.

C2 is my favorite vette. I loved my C5 Z06, truly a beautiful car. I have a c7 Z06 now and it's the pinnacle of modern vette design. Not a big fan of C6. I didn't find it pleasurable to drive for more than an hour.
