In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train drivers' view on Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) train between the Nagykanizsa and Siófok Balaton on the line Budapest - Nagykanizsa - Murakeresztúr line 30 (MÁV) in 4K/60 frames per second. Maximum speed is 120 km/h.
The Budapest-Murakeresztúr railway is a cca. 235-kilometre long railway line in Hungary that connects the Hungarian capital city Budapest with Nagykanizsa and Murakeresztúr. South of Murakeresztúr, the railway connects to the Croatian railway system, specifically the M501 railway serving Čakovec. The M501 connects to the Slovene railways at Središče ob Dravi, extending to Pragersko, while the R201 line branching off in Čakovec serves Varaždin. The line is part of the Pan-European Corridor V.
The rail line along the south shore of Lake Balaton was built in 1861 as the Budapest - Székesfehérvár - Nagykanizsa railway. Within the Kingdom of Hungary, it was a main line to Adriatic ports. Its current status is an international route to Slovenia and Croatia, but with many intermediate stations, serving the tourist resorts along the lake shore.
CORRECTION:
the line I marked as going to Kaposvar at 48:45 is the freight-only branch to Mesztegnyo and Somogyszob. The Kaposvar line leaves from Fonyod and can be seen peeling away from the mainline at 1:04:34. I am sorry for the mistake i made.

A legjobb magyar vezetőállás video, amit eddig láttam. Grat! 1. Ha a tücsőkciripelés a telefonod, akkor elég sűrűn jönnek az üzenetek. :) 2. A pálya Balatonszentgyörgyig katasztrófa, lassújel hegyek. 3. Onnan viszont öröm nézni a szép, új megállókat, átjárókat, peronokat, pályát, stb. 4. Az idójárás tökéletes volt és a táj is gyönyörű. That was a great ride on a gorgeous day with a fast and quiet train. I had never seen the countryside of Hungary and the scenery was great and the train going through the small towns was a great sight for the eyes. Everything looked clean and the homes were beautifully landscaped. I assume that body of water that was in this video was Lake Balaton. Thanks for showing me a country that I will never see in reality.

i Really enjoyed this one i wondered what Balaton meant but looking it up it means on the beach the view by the lake is breathtaking and the way they mix the freight and passenger trains is with precision for single line running although it was doubled towards the end thanks for posting

Great that you do cab rides also through Hungary, Balaton is a very nice region, visited it also a few times, driving around on the M7 motorway and some local roads. Had a great time watching also the perspective from the train locomotive, thanks a lot, greetings from a traveller and creator from Germany!

Line designated as "TO ŠENTILJ" at 01:42 is line number #17, Nagykanizsa-Zalaszentiván-Szombathely shared between MAV and GySEV, and it actually a pretty important vertical line through which today RegioJet night trains Prague-Brno-Bratislava-Zagreb-Split and cargo trains from Slovakia, Czech Republic take to Croatia. This might be an important line in the future and its electrification and modernization on MAV part (Nagykanizsa-Zalaszentiván) is planned in the near future. Also, this line might once in the future become main route from Zagreb to Bratislava/Vienna and maybe even Budapest.

Thank you for this video. Nice cab ride, this was the first hungarian cab ride seen. Very beautiful.sunny day, with some cloud. Interesting at the begining, at the end of the station of Nagykanizsa, seen on.the left and outside the railway track, two steam locomotives, may be a little museum. From 1.01.11 to 1.01.50 beautiful.views over the lake balaton and its waters of a very pale turquoise, but they were short.

This is a highly important line due to the summer tourist season + freight connection to the Adriatic sea's ports. Some years ago it was much worse in quality and the Vmax was around 60 km/h. The current conditions that you see in the video can be thanked to a huge reconstruction work which was made on the Lepsény-Keszthely section of the route (along the southern shore of the lake). There are many lines in our country with worse conditions, but this one's reconstruction was successful in my opinion. We have a small summer house along this shore, I loved to see this video too, thanks for the uploader ☺

Really enjoyed this video, highly distracting as kept distracting me from work, in the end I gave up the work and followed the route on Open Railway Map 🙂 My only suggestion to this otherwise excelent video is to have a picture of the train / locomotive at the start or end of the video. I visited lake Balaton & Siofok in 1980, traveling from Budapest to Yugoslavia by car. It certainly looks a lot better now! The highway looks modern! I didn't know there was a train?

@Laurence Yasner In all those years there was a big upgrade on roads in this part of Europe, lots of mew highways. And in Hungary they invested a lot in railways too.

Very nice region. I traveled from Keszthely to Budapest part of this route in the film. Good confortable trains even if they are old. Railroad stations clean and modern. 1 negative thing i don't like are the manual switches. We are in 2022 in the european union. 1 single human mistake can cost many traveler the life. Its time for signal and switches automation.

Le MAV sono una vera e formidabile ferrovia. E questi filmati, anche questo, sono meravigliosi ed eccezionali. Peccato però che spesso siano rovinati da informazioni imprecise. Qui alla partenza da Murakeresztur si vede a sinistra "to Sentilj". Ma Sentilj (Solovena) sta al confine con Spielfeld (Austriia) a un centinaio di chilometri ad occidente, Giusto è "To Zalaszentivan". Consiglio di filmare una linea assai bella, la Selva Baconia, Szekesferhervar-Veszprem-Celldomolk.-Szombately.

Its a MÁV class 431 or V43 by its old name. It has a great sound. But the V63 has even more stronger sound to it. But the most unique is probably BVmot or BVhmot in terms of sound. Sounds like a DB 110 when its starting then it has a sound like a 60s DC loco.

@@jasonswaglord1498 Thank you for that additional information! I personally prefer the sound of the V43 shown here over the V63 I could find recordings of. The BVhmot are also very interesting though they remind me a lot more of the DB BR 420 instead of BR 110 and alike, possibly utilizing a similar phase control traction system as the BR 420.

@@daseck69 The DB 420 really sounds like the BVhmot! Quite interesting. There arent many recordings of it since 2 exist in the whole universe and only 1 is functional. Its big brother the BVmot has 2 functioning units outta 3 so they are the rarest of trains in Hungary. Also ads to rarity since the bvhmot has only 1 functional unit, so it only sees action when a BVmot unit is out of service. BVmot was a unique intercity train based on the ICE. It was the last effort by Ganz to restart operations and also the last hungarian loco or EMU ever made. Its a legendary train here with smart design and state of the art electronics. Sadly the world and our country didnt needed it. So i feel really sorry for it. Its basically the gravestone of the long history of train making at Ganz.

Z velikimi črkami so napisana imena postaj, na katerih se vlak ustavi in z malimi imena postaj, kjer se vlak ne ustavi. Pomena pa nisem preverjal....nekatera je prav težko prebrat.

Not the communication phone, it is the "stay-awake" system. When the sound comes on, the driver has to use a pedal to confirm that he is still awake. Failing to do so will trigger the automatic braking system to stop the train.
