On the nopales style cactus you can remove a whole pad, pre-disinfect the whole pad, then cut it into nodes with a scalpel, then do final sterilizing of the explant nodes. This does not require special tools and is less likely to cause infection to the parent plant and explants.

What a wonderful video! Would this protocol also work on Schlumbergera? Or is it too soft to be treated in the same way as other cacti?

It would also work for Christmas cactus.

I have a Thanksgiving cactus that is a very small plant. I've had it for 2 months, it's not growing. The leaves are a little floppy. Would I be wasting my time to try tissue culture on one of these leaves? Do you think it might grow in tissue culture even if the leaves aren't great?

hi! where did you finally put the tissues? what was that oily liquid in the jar in which tissues you put?
@PlantCellTechnology
@PlantCellTechnology Жыл бұрын
It's a sterilizing solution made of distilled water, bleach, and poly solvent 20 to clean and surface sterilize plant tissues. after explants are sterilized, you put them in a sterilized, cooled, and solidified tissue culture media and keep them in a suitable environment for their growth.

In case you don't get an answer, I'm pretty sure it's a 1g per liter hormone solution to start, then he's adding 1.5ml of that to 1 liter of grow media. 0:22
