What a gal Mrs. O is. Not only to green light the table But to declare “ I’ll go buy one right now”! That made 90% of your male viewers all warm and fuzzy for a second. The other 10% is wondering if they have ever got green lighted without presenting major evidence supporting the perceived need. She’s a keeper.

First I gotta say that you must have a an amazing memory. Not just remembering where the random bolts and clips go at the end but the fact that you’re doing other cars in between and then coming back to the caddy and continuing right where you left off. Secondly there are times I have been under a car busy with my hands full and if someone even so much as talks to me or interrupts me, I get agitated. How you manage to do that and record even when it’s not the least bit convenient is a testament to your dedication and skill. I have learned a lot watching you, it will be a sad day in the KZfaq automotive world if you ever decide to stop doing this.

Your catch phrase, “If I can do it, you can do it” has never been more wrong then it is in this video series. To be able to remove an engine from a vehicle that you’ve never done before, locating numerous electrical connections, wiring harnesses and mechanical connections takes a talent and set of cajones most of us will never possess. The ability to remember where all this crap needs to be reattached is remarkable to say the least. To an average nit wit like myself, to me it’s beyond complicated and would lead to a “level 10”frustration within minutes of starting. I dare say for every 1000 wrench turners there’s only one Eric O. A true master of the master mechanics. Videos such as this certainly prove why that shop phone is incessantly ringing. People in Avoca are more then blessed to have South Main as a repair shop.

I made a dolly out of 4*4's, and put casters (all swivel) under it. Essentially do exactly what you just did, but I put the cradle/engine/trans on it, then lift the car away. Then I can just roll the whole mess out and do whatever needs doing. Then just roll it back under, plop the body back down, and adjust as needed until it fits! Made it about 25 years ago, and it's never missed a beat. Hangs on a wall out of the way when I'm not using it.

Non rust belt cars are awesome. My family is primarily from eastern upstate NY but my parents moved us to Mooresville NC area in the late 70s. My cousin that was also a tech in NY would fly down for vacation every winter and buy 2 mid 80s pickup trucks. Then rent a tow dolly and drive them back to NY and sell them. Always made enough profit to pay for flight and expenses and spending money while on vacation. Trucks in NC were a dime a dozen and sold for mint in NY. Easy to make 2-3 grand or more each truck. Had a couple friends that bought car carrier 5th wheel trailers and bought southern vehicles and transported them up north. Had a few used car lots they would take orders from and find and deliver what they wanted most. Plenty of cheap late 60s muscle cars went north this way. 67-70 Camaros could be bought for 4-5 grand and sell for 3-4 times that up north.

I've done several out the bottom without a lift table by getting almost everything loose, raising the car a couple feet off the ground and using an engine hoist to gently lower the assembly down. This also helps in reinstalling because you have the ability to wiggle and move the assembly while lifting it back into place. Sure beats having to balance on jack stands and ensuring that you get it back in the exact position.

Suggestion for lift. Amazon has a shop / motorcycle flat lift rated at 1100 LBS made by VIVOHOME for $149.99. it has 4 swivel wheels and a hand crank lift handle. Take some 2 X 2 steel square tube and extend the wheel base for better stability and take the lift crank end off, weld on a large nut and you can use an electric impact to raise and lower easily. I would put a 1 inch plywood top onto the lift platform where you can put jack stands and you can attach the stands by welding tabs on the bottom of the legs and bolt them to the wood in any pattern. The 4 swivel wheels will let you move the stand any way you need and lift the engine slowly from underneath. for occasional use this is cheap and versatile and small storage. It can also be used to roll transmissions or whatever also.

I can remember back in the day that we could do an engine swap on my 78 Chevy pickem up in a couple of hours max. Of course it was a 6 cylinder with lots of room to work on it.

Nice job Eric! And misses O for the wisdom ofcourse. I also don't own an engine lift table at my shop. I just dropped a motor and tranny last Friday. I alway keep a couple spare wooden pallets around, stack em up, get strap around them, and drop the engine on that. That way I can use the pallet jack, and position it around as I am dropping or installing the engine. I don't know if you're having one sitting around, but man are they handy. Greetings from the Netherlands!

If at the end of this series, which I'm enjoying the change of pace, Eric says 'Just remember viewers, if I can do it, you can to.' I"m just going to shake my head side to side.

LOL. If this was me after watching. I would have stuck a couple stick's of TNT under the car 🚗 to fix it. When I did this work years ago it was soooo much easier. These newer cars and trucks are a joke. I got a 2009 Malibu and to change a head light you need to pull the front bumper cover off to change it or pay 250.00 to 300.00 at the dealership for a 30.00 bulb. It's stupid. My hat is off to you for what you do and show on your U Tube Channel

I hope it's a new engine, if it's second hand and then fitted let's hope it has no issues, would be a real bummer to re-fit the engine and find out it has similar issues.

Yeah like it was misdiagnosed, wouldn't be the first time a garage or dealership was totally wrong. Would of got the guy doing the job for a second opinion, a quick compression test even

It is NOT fun redoing jobs like this. I put a used engine in a 3.6 Impala years ago. Used engine had a dead cylinder. Installed a used trans 3-4 months ago, bad. Just rebuilt a trans in a newer Escape, I flipped the clutch plates around, that is coming back out today🙄
