Earl had such a fine, elegant voice. This is one singer I regret not seeing in concert.

Carroll would always put a smile on your face. The Cadillacs were one of the most colorful, entertaining doo woo groups of 50s. If only the new generation can duplicate that magical touch, “It won’t be enough !” However, we welcome there love for Doo Wop 🎩🎙

One of my all time favorite groups. I was so lucky to see them perform in the 50s and 90s. RIP Earl SPEEDO Carroll. You were so kind and humble. The kids at his school didn't even know he could sing. We will all miss you!!!!

Many people relate the Cadillacs as being a comedy act., but Earl Carroll had one of the finest falsetto voices in the business. He was the lead singer of both the Cadillacs and the Coasters for over 50 years. The NY Times had an excellent obit. on him upon his death in 2012. One of the great's of the 50's and early 60's.

I was born in '92 and I think this stuff is brilliant. So many people my age wont admit they like early music becuase "it isnt cool", but the more ive opened up about loving it, the more other people my age seem to admit to enjoying it. :)

SuperDizmaster well how can anyone not love these guys and there beautiful voices--I was a rock n roll / doowop music drummer in the 50s&60s-and i still play & sing doowop on a guitar--my eyes still become glassy on certain doowop songs--back in the fabulous 50s-thats where i want to be---------doowopdougie---Speedo-Mr. Earl is singing for the Lord now-vivaladoowop

This is 50s doo wop not rock & roll listen to it when they recored it that's doo wop at it's best. He doesn't have a good band that's why it doesn't sound as good as the recored version.

+Douglas King Funny some do not know good music when they hear it, there is nothing like the DooWop music, love to listen to it and see these videos on KZfaq. My late husband was a singer of country and promoter who loved these old tunes. Keep on playing that good music that you can dance to.

The "38" Down Votes must have never been in love and lost. One of my all-time fave Cadillacs' songs - and yeah, I can relate. This song comforted me as a young buck some 25 years after they recorded it. As fate would have it, my "girl I love" and I reunited as friends a few years ago - following our weddings to other lovers. Magical things happen when you're a Cadillacs fan.

How Earl "Speedo" Carroll was "rediscovered" is a story in itself. He took a job as a janitor, under an assumed name, at an elementary school so he would have some type of retirement, some years after he left the music industry. He was beloved by the students and staff alike. He was heard singing as he performed his janitorial duties by a school administrator one day. The administrator recognized the songs and the voice and asked him if he was indeed Speedo and he shyly nodded his head affirmatively. The school administrator hooked him up with someone he knew in the music industry and helped Speedo reform the Cadillacs. He sang many more years with the group - part time - until his death in 2012.
