I went to the same high school (Thornton Township in Harvey, IL), and my sister married Chuck's brother, so I KNOW the Dells. They had wonderful harmonies that were just beginning to really be explored when Charles Stephney unexpectedly passed. They also have two major distinctions - Johnny Carter was one of only 2-3 people to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with two groups (Dells and Flamingos) AND they stayed together for five decades without having someone leave or want to have "top billing". A truly special group.

@@scorpio_9810 I am a Eddie Kendricks fan. But there was one tenor I thought was better, his name was Ralph Pruitt, he was with the Fantastic Four. Listen to the song; "To Share Your Love", on KZfaq, especially the last note. They were moving on up and sounded so much like the Temptations, Berry Gordy bought their record company, (Ric Tic) and stop producing their records. Some people say he wanted Edwin Starr. Eddie Holman, hit those high notes Eddie didn't sing also.

I am a 80 year old White Brother that can't get enough of the Fabulous Mighty DELLS! If any one I happen to meet accidentally or on purpose denys there's an Almighty God who created us to be brothers and sisters, after I whup' up on his A*s! I'm gonna' force him to listen to the Mighty DELLS and after listening I'm gonna' ask him this damn Question!? Do you believe that there's a LORD GOD or NOT after hearing the Mighty DELLS Sing? If he should happen to not to give me the right answer which is YES! I'm gonna' whup' upon that A** a little bit more. I'm a former Rhythm and Blues Horn player (Trumpet). One of my passions is R&B Music. I loved playing it and listening to it, at 80 still do! I have never heard a Singing Group even come close to the Mighty DELLS. It is my belief, of which I'm entitled to, not The Temptations, The O'Jays, Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions, there's more but I forgot their names. The Spinner's come close! War, The Five Satins, Lionel Richie and the Commondors. The Mighty DELLS, Unparalleled!! Thanks for letting me comment. I do preciate' it. As Always, God Bless You and Yours Take Care and Stay Safe! I remain, with warmest regards, Most Sincerely, Michael! Former United States Army Military Police Officer (1960-1963). I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS! MR. Saw the Dells in 60's/70's Oakland Collisium Ca. I'll never forget it, they brought the HOUSE Down! The Temptations were there too and couldn't even come close to what the Dell's did. What a Night!! Have to add, when we arrived in the parking lot there was all these new cars with the big white wall tires and the guys stepping out were wearing differnt colour suites from bright blue to bright orange with their pimp hats to match and the women were wearing gowns and dresses as if they were in Hollywood on the red carpet . We had good seats about 5 rows from the stage. The Dells had orange/pink sutis and by the time their performance was over they were dripping wet. That's how much they put in to their songs.

Times i wish i could say "the memories this song brings back" The Dells and all other groups of this era is something i can really only experience through youtube unfortunately. honestly a shame music has become what it has at 23yr old i feel i was born in the wrong generation motown/soul music has lost a spotlight to everything really and even the R&B nowadays is so distasteful at least to me. But seeing these live videos really does make me want to reminisce on past memories that is what a lot of music today lacks.
