I used to go to Vegas in the early 70's when the mob ran a lot of the casinos. If someone had jumped on a table and started throwing chips he would have been grabbed and gone in seconds and no one would have ever heard from him again. They didn't have bums, drugs addicts and hookers working the streets either. You never had to worry about crime.

Just stayed at the Cosmopolitan in mid June. The new parking fee of $18 /day on top of a $50+ resort fee is ridiculous. The staff at the check in desks and cleaning service were very nice, but it felt like the Hotel was trying to milk us for everything. We are definitely looking at off-strip alternatives for next year. Love the channel you guys!

The Uncomons is in a bad location, dumb ordering system, expensive, and the food selection was not good. Their only customers were Draft Kings employees. I walked through Resorts World last week and only 2 places were open at the Famous Foods hall so I wonder what's going on there. I also went to Slots o Fun and had a $2 hot dog and beer. Every single quarter slot was being used and that lovely cling cling cling sound brought back memories of old Vegas.

Never been to Uncommon, but if they opened with 15 booths, it seems it would be impossible for all of them to make money. Only a certain number of people will come and at some point there's not enough business to go around.

I think Vegas has turned into a place people go to for bachelor/bachelorette parties, conventions (so the employer pays), birthday parties and for rich people who have money to burn for concerts and sporting events. That is the crowd that the casinos want. They do not want the budget crowd or people who used to go 2/3 times a year and use coupons or care how much the resort fee is.

On the flip side, when the resorts damage your property due to negligence, they try to pay as least as possible and make you spend a lot of time to get compensated. 10 years ago, I stayed at the Aria for 3 nights and on checkout day, I noticed a brown stain on the shoulders of all my shirts that I hung in their closet. I called the front desk of this incident and they sent a housekeeping manager along with security up to my room and they found that the closet was stained prior to my stay and was still very wet after 3 night on my checkout day. I got a business card and instructions on how to get reimbursed for my favorite designer shirts. Upon returning home and filing a claim (using the sale prices that I paid for the Dolce Gabbanna, Armani, and Burberry shirts cuz I’m honest), Aria was in denial of the incident. I had to jump through hoops to get compensated and had to send them my irreplaceable favorite shirts paying myself for the shipping fees. After this incident, I no longer stay at the Aria!! They could have offered a free stay to make it right, but only paid the minimum and costed me time and money.

Yeah a free stay costs them almost nothing too in the grand scheme of things. Businesses can be awful short sighted at times. Especially since they went up and agreed it was their fault.

Rio should either create a separate area for a basic breakfast buffet or renovate Hash House to a setup like Grand Lux Cafe has at the Venetian, where you can purchase a buffet meal or order off the menu. The buffet has all the basic breakfast foods. I never use the moving walkways in Las Vegas, even at the airport, because I’m too impatient. 😅 Many times people don’t leave a passing lane to the left, so annoying. I do feel bad for people with disabilities, who deserve assistance in getting around in these large properties. Las Vegas has definitely gotten more expensive, but I think that your discussion of that survey is a bit misleading. Las Vegas is not one of the more expensive cities to vacation in: in fact, it’s still cheap compared to other major cities in the U.S. Admittedly, I don’t rent a car, go to nightclubs, rarely drink and avoid at pricier restaurants, which keeps my costs down. I haven’t stayed at a Caesars property in over ten years, and stories like today’s are a big reason why. I can tell you that I usually leave a $5 tip daily for housekeeping in my basic rooms, but last year my brother spilled a soda on his bedsheets. I left a note apologizing and requested those sheets be changed, and left a $20 top. We got new sheets and a very happy housekeeper. 😁

I operated hotels for many years. I can't recall EVER charging for sheets. Many stained with makeup, lipstick, etc....I do not think CZR would get away with that in any other place in America. People will remember when things slow down....and they will. Arrogance is a deadly sin.

The casino hotels charge for them because they can unfortunately. For all the people that complain about high prices, the casinos are making record profits. Vegas doesn't want the 'average gambler'. They want those with lots of descretionary income. Short sighted strategy imho. You really want both types of gamblers.

They're charging a $250 cleaning fee, so they should charge no more than $100-$150 to replace everything else. The host should be able to fix that, but evidently not. I would simply fight them through my bank & never go back, once I was done with the host. They would not get a penny from me. Like you said, the best way would have been to leave a $50 or $100 tip with the maid. That would have been the end of it. Thanks for reporting Caesars on this one! There is a more profitable way, if anyone likes to fight: You pay the full amount, then sue them in small claims court for MORE. Caesars cannot bring a lawyer & there is no disclosure process in small claims court, so they are at your mercy. You will get paid for your expenses to return to Vegas, so an extra free vacation. Once you win & have your judgement paid, then seek publicity & offer to sign an NDA for a fee.

Regarding customer loyalty and what it will get you... I once worked for a properly management company doing maintenance at an apartment complex. I had the pleasure of knowing a lady who had been the original resident and had lived in her apartment for 35 years. But it gets better. Before that, she had lived in a mobile home park that existed on the same land before it got torn down to make way for the apartment complex. So 50 years of rent. She was a widow and a very nice lady. Well she eventually moved out to go into long term care. The office workers charged her 100 dollars on her move out inspection form to fill nail holes where her curtain rods had been. My view of humanity changed that day. When she told me. ( I went into that office ready to make a scene far worse than the guy throwing casino chips and did get rid of those charges for her. )So anyways... companies taking advantage of their literal best customers is a well known thing to me in my life experience as incredible as it seems.

Caesars entertainment lost its loyal customers when they closed the diamond lounge. That was a very bad move from the new corporation that took over! They just didn’t understand that to be in business you need to keep your loyal customers happy! All those loyal Caesars entertainment customers went to MGM. Vegas is too expensive. People rather just go to Mexico or Florida which is much cheaper and you would definitely have a better time!

This was our last trip to vegas (just landed back in detroit yesterday). Group of us had been going once a year for the last 15 years and expensive is fine, but vegas is downright disrespectful. I used to get comp'd hotels/meals/shows as a broke college kid and now even though my buddy is a diamond member all he gets is a comp'd room. I'm sure i'll be back one more time when my kids turn 21, hopefully by then a miracle happens and they decide to bring back more themed hotels and lower the prices back down

@@djm5687 Yea, this time we were waivering between fremont street and an offstrip casino, but because it was our last trip we decided to bite the bullet and stay downtown. We've seen/done everything, the long flight/time change sucks, everything has gotten insanely expensive, 25$ tables almost everywhere on the strip (and they only have 1-2 per game so they are usually packed) and now that we are all married/about to turn 40 we don't have the same energy to fist pump at the clubs til 4am. We are going to try a cruise next year and see how it goes. We stayed at a different hotel each year and i gotta say, i think this year (horseshoe) was the best which was surprising because we never even considered it when it was ballys. The rooms were pretty average, we didn't eat/gamble much there and we knew the pool was bad so we went to flamingo, but everything else was better. We never waited for elevators, getting from the rooms to the strip was fast, you can go out to the right door cross the street and get to the linq promenade, left to paris (without having to go outside), and out front has a bunch of quick food options and the big red bar. It's center strip and the CVS is right next door. Carpet-not as good as motorcity.

16:40 Caesars Palace now wants $40 in a 6/5 VP machine for a comp drink. We only found out as we were waiting for our table at Amalfi and played VP in the bar next door. My wife put $100 in and I put $20 in. I played at a good clip $1.25 per spin for at least 15 minutes on that same $20 but when I went to leave the bartender said I owed for my drink. The bartender then told me it was $40 in and I explained how much I played and he "did me a favor" and comped the BEER. My wife put $100 in, ordered a $25 drink off a drink menu and cashed out at $90 so she played LESS than me but had the $40 in I guess. IMO don't give a person a drink until they earn it and if you raise the coin in let people know in advance Later that evening we played at a different bar at Caesars Palace and the bartender told us when we sat down it was $40 for a drink

A platinum level member of MGMRewards recently reported that at Mandalay Bay, she was charged for a top shelf liquor in her drink. Apparently, only well liquors are comped now if you're gambling. Even at the Platinum level. Oh and get this. She said her husband ordered a Fiji water and a discussion took place among the bartenders as to whether they were required to charge for it versus the standard MGM branded water. I don't know what knuckleheads in suits are running things over at MGM these days, but payback is going to be a bitch. I can almost guarantee a major blow-back heading their way, and sooner rather than later.

Gave my Caesars host some recommendations before I stopped going. Put slide up curtains on the windows like old Times Square peep shows where people could get a view for say 1 minute for 1 dollar. Put a parking toll gate similar to the ones that gives you a ticket when you arrive but program them for a random amount of money lost say 750.00. Pay at window and enjoy other parts of Vegas instead of wasting time gambling to lose the 750.00. Setup up cardboard cutouts of famous people that you can take a picture with like a meet and greet charge 25.00 for the experience of meeting the cutout. Ran out of time but this could go on forever.

I'm going to tell on myself, how I got my Rockstar wings by destroying a Vegas hotel room! I spent 3 nights at EDC, staying the whole night, until the sun came up, each night! On my 4th night I planned on catching up on some sleep, but I got food poisoning and spent that whole night barfing into a Seoul Bird bucket. I got maybe 1/2 hour of sleep. Sometime early in the morning, I started to feel better, but I was a mess, so I decided to get in the bathtub. I hopped in and the warm water almost immediately put me to sleep! Well, if you know about the Vdara bathtubs, the faucet can get pushed into the ✌️no man's land✌️ behind the tub. The back of the tub is basically a double tunnel shoot, flowing directly to the bathroom floor at each end! Sometime later I'm awakened by security and engineers banging on my hotel door and the in-room phone ringing. I look over at the faucet and it's flowing on the edge of the tub(1/2 in 1/2 out) and I immediately think "Oh Fuck!" To shorten the story, I had to write a report about what happened and they ended up charging me $1,800 for room destruction. {Flooded bathroom and bedroom} (About $260 more than Cheapsers charged for sheets)

We stayed at Mandalay Bay last week and walked to Excalibur a few times. They had one moving walkway intact, but the one next to it was blocked off with a temporary wall. The one into the dirty castle was working most of the time. On a side note, we only got housekeeping every other day, even though housekeeping was right by our door. I saw a comment from someone that Luxor only did every other day. I wonder if MGM changed this and didn’t announce it.

And yes, Vegas is so expensive now that my 4 to 5 trips per year have dwindled down to 2 or 3. Might end up being an annual trip.

One thing about that cost survey is the gambling revenue not being part of it. The reason Vegas was cheap was because the gambling money it brought in so Vegas was cheap to go stay and eat. Now Vegas is getting all that revenue from gambling which is record amounts every month but still feel the need to gouge you on rooms food and drinks and transportation. I have cut my trips way down and so have many people I know. We still go but not as much.

I recently moved from San Diego to Las Vegas and I will tell you car rental costs are way more expensive here than anywhere else. Here in Vegas they will charge you not only a state tax but also a county tax and a 10% government tax. Insurance on a car rental is insane! For just liability it's $5 more a day than California. If you're not a spouse or domestic partner, they charge $15/day. Now if you have an American Express credit card, certain cards offer platinum car insurance for $24.99. That's not per day but your entire rental. Up to 42 days. That covers the rental only. Not liability. If you're flying in and renting at an airport I suggest renting at a local branch. It'll be cheaper overall.

Here I am adding onto my previous comments: The Caesars $5 price for a wash cloth or $12.80 for a towel seems in line based on better quality items at say a Target and go to Marriott's website and look at their sheet sets in the $300 price range (17:58/22:09) but this is all well-used materials so to charge new prices seems excessive. My question would be, based on condition, how long before they changed all this out with new materials anyway?? The deep cleaning fee at $250 is also over the top. At $50/hour as a wage/fringe/overhead rate, I'd say at best 2 hours ($100) and at most $25 for materials so this looks like a 100% markup at the $250 number. BUT I didn't see the room per your comment as well. If the room was trashed then the deep cleaning fee might be reasonable. ALSO, as you two note, a 12-times a year customer with a host for 40 years that gets treated this way - not a sound move in the long run. Plus a 40-year guest(s) starting even at 21 years old is now 61 years old or older so how much are they tearing up anyway??

The problem with Hyatt Globalist is the Guest of Hyatt program. Globalists can gift Globalist for one-time stays through GOH program. It is super easy to get a GOH certificate as Globalists have an incentive to share them. So Rio maybe expected like 5-10 Globalists MAX per day initially but it’s turning into 50-100 daily Globalists due to the GOH.

Moving walkways are an outstanding idea, especially for Vegas and its larger properties. But, just like the escalators for the crosswalks, they’re largely exposed to Vegas weather; especially sun and sand. The ones in the airport probably don’t need as much maintenance since they’re enclosed. Of course, the walkways only made it easier for you to go into the resort. Not out of.

The sound echos and you can be blocks away and still hear it. Unless you get soundproof windows just know you may have to get used to loud sounds late at night. Stopped going to Vegas around 10 yrs ago. I am not a big gambler. For 20+ years I flew out there on average 2x a year. It used to be a inexpensive getaway with pretty much guaranteed great weather. but then the fees started, and the freebies dried up. There is the resort fee, CNF fee, mandatory tips on top of the fees, live entertainment fee. Then charging for parking. I always had a budget for each trip, In the beginning the fees cut into the gambling and eating out budget, then there was no gambling budget, On top of it all the strip turned into a version of Times Square NYC, it became sketchy at best. It is not even a reflection of what it once was. I swear i remember helicopters landing where the Monte Carlo was built, but that was a long time ago and my memory sucks.

11:29 I don’t think they’re saying Las Vegas is the most expensive place to visit. Their headline is misleading. What they are showing is that the costs are increasing the fastest in those cities. Does anyone really believe that touristically-challenged cities like Knoxville and Cincinnati are more expensive to visit than Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Miami, DC, Honolulu, etc.? I went to Los Angeles last month and had to cough up some serious Bonvoy points for a stay at the Renaissance near LAX, but I’m heading to Salt Lake over the 4th of July weekend and got a great deal on both airfare and my hotel (staying at one of the Hyatts downtown).

People are coming in droves because they have never experienced this expensive of a market before and have no idea what they're in for. Most will think long and hard before returning. Something doesn't add up on that wine spilled on the sheet. If she spilled a little wine on the sheet and carpet, why are they charging for the entire sheet set? Did she throw wine all over the room? Did she stand above someone and pour the wine out onto them and the bed? It sounds like the hotel thought it was intentional.
