+j sturgess I originally thought it was the float height but after setting that and swapping the needle to another carb I'm now certain it's the gloat needle.

For The Bold - dreegez my bike had been sitting in the garage for 16 yrs, so had to clean carbs found the o rings on float needles had perished so replaced them also the needles needed freeing from crud! Still doesn't run for long and lumpy due in part to 3rd cylinder not firing, I'm going to take carbs off again clean and inspect, thinking also problem might be caused by leaking inlet boots and o rings.

This video reminded me that I should probably install it, but I've been pretty busy on my k-bike project. I think I'll give the old /5 some love soon though. So the idea to get it to run at the correct mixture at idle is to go up in size at your main jets? Why not the pilot/slow jets? Those mostly control the idle circuit air/fuel mixture. Main controls WOT
@forthebold
@forthebold 6 жыл бұрын
+FooDude2011 main jets don't control the idle. Slow jets and circuits. The thinking behind increasing the main jet is that it's still bogging when opening quickly and that popping you hear is running lean. I noticed that there is a washer on the plate that the old rotor sat on. Do I have to remove the washer so the rotor sits lower on the shaft? Alternative would be to shave a bit from the top of the rotor? You can see that the new rotor sits just a little bit too high on the shaft.
