Bluder was referring to Caitlin Clark being a role model and inspiration for all the young girls who come to see her play, just as Clark came to see Maya Moore when she was a young girl. It's not about statistics or awards or championships at all. Look up Caitlin Clark and Maya Moore's surprise visit to her on ESPN and you will get it. No division. Just love and respect.

Caitlin Clark's popularity is unparalleled in that sense in this day and age popularity goes a long way in most cases like in women's basketball it seems to override skill because I am hearing a bunch of people totally disrespect all of the NCAA greats and the WNBA greats for a person who hasn't won indie championships.

PEARL MOORE from South Carolina. 4,076 points. Without a threepoint line and a man ball. Record wasn't accepted because the league changed. She had a 60-point game taken out with 8 minutes left in the game. Because the coach didn't wanna embrass the other team. She played in a conference that ranked 15th of like 31 for 3 years and went 120+ wins and 1 loss (out of conference). Was 18-0 every year in that conference that ranked in the 20th range of 31. Originally, her freshman year, she was in one of the top 5 conferences but after losing like 4 games that year, they ran away and headed to a weaker one. If she stayed in her loaded conference, I don't think Stewie is going to be an All-Conference player 3x, like she was in that weak trash she played for. Geno was actually losing 12 games in that conference three year span. He didn't win the title for 2 of 3 years, before they bolted. To make Stewie some GOAT because she played vs the weak conference with 15 WNBA players is laughable. Clark was literally playing in the second strongest conference for 2 to 3 years. and every year was a top 5 conference. I believe it was #2, #5, #3, #2 in rankings. Clark was all-conference all 4 years, something that Stewie didn't do. I wouldn't ever put Stewie in the upstanding list since she basically had the easiest schedules known to humankind. Griner was in the strongest conference every single year, and managed to win 1 championship at least. Winning 3 conference championships is hard in a top 2 to 3 conference compared to one that you're literally the best TEAM by a mile on since every other team lost nearly 20+ games like Stewart...

@@donaldtillman4351 NC State (Men's) played for that "conference chip" because if they didn't win that, then they wouldn't have been in the NCAA tournament. This has happened many times since you know like 64 teams are actually able to make the tournament. There are 33 conferences, so you need to be a top team in a conference, or have a good resume to make it. You have to qualify to make the NCAA tournament to even have a chance at winning the whole thing. If you win the conference championship, you can be a top seed and therein having an easier run + home field advantage in the beginning rounds. Those are always a huge advantage in that environment. So, yes, teams do TRY to win the conference chip since it helps them stand better chances against the 64 best teams in the nation, that year. 2011-2012 season, UCONN needed to win their conference tournament just to have a number 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Notre Dame had won the conference, so UCONN had to win against them in the finals to get to that Number 1 seed just to have a shot. They didn't win that year though. 2012-2013 (Stewart First Year) Baylor was the best team in the country. Notre Dame won the conference tournament championship. Uconn got the number 1 seed too, thankfully. 2 other number 2 seeds made it to the final four besides ND and UCONN. UCONN easily won against Louisville (third in the conference Big East) and harrowingly won against ND the game before nationals. Stewart's last three years that team only lost one game against some out of conference team. The stats do not say that this team was dominant, as the stats say they played a weak conference for majority of their wins and had to beat a #4 team, and a few games against their only real challenge Notre Dame. Most of that is due to recruiting 15 WNBA players, basically.

Stat wise Clark is having a better rookie season than Maya. Maya averaged 13 points a game, 5 rebounds and 2.6 assist with 0.5 blocks in her rookie year. Clark has 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.6 assists. In college Clark had better stats too, but Maya was on a team full of WNBA hall of famers. People keep using Clark didn't get a ring bit, but unlike Kardossa and Angel she didn't transfer to another school to chase a ring. Kardossa and Angel could not get it done on their own, so they transferred to schools that had a roster full of 4 and 5 star recruits.

But guess what, Maya would defend Caitlin and this. She came out of hiding to go surprise Caitlin and watch her break thr record. Team awards don’t matter to me when comes to a singular player. It’s about what a particular player does themselves to lead to winning. Caitlin had to carry a heavier load to even make it to the championship game. And :, we can’t compare wnba this early in ccs career.

Caitlin went to her State college and took 2 and 3 star players to consecutive national championship games playing the same schools that perennials like UConn, South Carolina, LSU, USC play. These are perennial schools and get all of the 5 star and the majority of the 4 star prospect. So no they don’t win championships but they compete and bring pride to their states and graduates unlike u Conn, LSU! South Carolina, USC and other perennials. Competing with these schools and winning a game is monumental because they are expected to win because of their recruiting programs. Forty years ago the big Ten produced championship teams in basketball with all white teams. Now basketball mills have taken over from state universities in recruiting and competing for national championships. F these schools, their coaches, their players, and their acolytes. Support your state colleges and their teams.

If you are going to post at least know what you are posting about. The ncaa separates records by division. Cc is the Division 1 women’s all time scorer. The media usually focuses on that level because it’s the best players. It’s not about making someone bigger than they are. Pearl played NAIA level ball..the lowest level behind D1, D2 and D3. 90% of the players she scored against could not sit the bench at a D1 school. Why wasn’t she good enough to win? That’s what’s important. Basketball is about winning Championships not scoring titles. What championship has she won?

So now winning championships aren’t impressive … lawd. UCONN has not always been “UCONN”. Pat Summit had the game on lock before Geno built that program up. McDonald’s AAs rode the pine, meaning it was nearly impossible to win individual scoring records, UNLESS you went to a school like Iowa and could start your freshman year.
@ChesterMeowerson

@@YouAREyoubeYou How often does Iowa usually make a championship run? 😂 As opposed to UCONN? Because they have a stacked roster EVERY year. And look who Clark lost to- an undefeated SC juggernaut that is another program that is stacked with talent every year. Clark played for Iowa for crying out loud 😂 Thats part of what made her a star. People hate dynasty teams that are always win. They love to cheer for an underdog.

@@Prettypiscesgyal You can't blame Clark for blazing her own path and not conforming to what everyone else does. Nobody likes teams that hog all the talent and win all the time. People like to root for the underdog. Clark played for a mediocre Iowa team and took them on two championship runs. That's part of what made her a star. If she had played for UCONN nobody would probly care about her that much, scoring records or not.

I understand what Bluder was saying. She could have talked about what CC is to fans today using other words, everyone that was upset with her is not wrong, because when AR say one thing they CC fans take it out of context and start crying all day on social media. But truthfully I wasn’t upset because I don’t feel she was comparing CC to Maya, I was giving her the benefit of doubt.

They can get mad all they want, but her ex-coach Lisa Bluder is one of CC's biggest support systems. She's going to be very supportive of CC, I really don't think people live in reality. We gotta see what becomes of CC in the WNBA. A lot of people are super protective of Maya Moore's legacy, it's very scary how those people protect her. She had a short WNBA career, anybody can beat it.

How stupid are people!! REALLY. This was a personal opinion of her coach about Clark's Award. Moore was her idol who she is seeking to become. So if someone says that Woods or the Willams sisters are they idol and they seek to model them, personal opinions means nothing? really? Moore is who she is seeking to play like. These so-called critics must have missed taking a "logic" course in high school or college. Please give me a real explanation of how someone is angry about Clark talking about her idol. When I thought ignorance would not become worse. Lord help us when in America when someone can no longer have a personal opinion that can be expressed by a coach and other players. Disgusting, let's get our backsides out of feeling racially inferior and race-bating. Such comments would not have been said 40 years ago when we acknowledged talents whoever displayed them. Shameful!!

Thus, true free speech allows us to disagree, however, respect comes when you respect the opinion even if you don't agree. Statements and opinions should be viewed from a contextual perspective. The coach was speaking about Clark'st idol, who she aspires to become, not that she was equal to her idol, but who inspires her as a player to achieve greatness. Do we not teach our Black children to aspire to become someone that they admire that can improve the quality of life for them and their families? Do we not tell our children to pick an idol, etc. Dr. King, great Black inventors, business owners, etc. good fathers and mothers to aspire to become or emulate? If your child said that they admired Dr. King and wanted to be him and his civil rights activities emulate King at their age and the father says that my child is the King of his generation, would you chastise that child, telling him/her that they are wrong to compare themselves to King? I don't think so. The bottom line is Clark is not her idol yet, but she could be 5 years from now., which is the moral of this story.

What is unthinkable about it? Caitlin Clark won the same award that Maya Moore won. It is a direct comparison--they both have the same exact approach to fans, given her statements. Clark is the Maya Moore of this generation: related to that. Maya Moore was 2x champion in college. She was part of a 90 win streak. However, the thing you guys don't ever include is her conference play and the competition she had all her career. The first two years she played very very weak competition. She was in a conference that ranked 15th of 31 conferences. Meaning, subpar competition. When she did have the Notre Dames and other top conferences, Maya Moore + UCONN lost not only their conference but even the NCAA. Then, they went and left the conference they were apart of (freshman year for Stewart) after they lost 4 games that year and went to an even weaker conference that was basically ranked around 21st of 31. Only one other team even made the NCAA tournament those years from the conference. Stewart was a 4x NCAA champion with a conference that she literally went 18-0 against in 3 straight years. Only one loss ever happened to that team--when they played out of conference. Comparing Maya Moore to Caitlin Clark is tough: Year 1: SRS: -0.83 (6th of 31) SOS: -2.08 (19th of 31) Year 2: SRS: -1.56 (10th of 31) SOS: -1.16 (17th of 31) Year 3: SRS: 15.15 (5th of 33) SOS: 9.79 (5th of 33) Year 4: SRS: 17.91 (2nd of 33) SOS: 12.33 (2nd of 33) Clark's conference ranked top 5 every year. Was top 2 for two of her four years. Maya Moore only won Year 2 and Year 3. Maya Moore also had like 10 WNBA players on her teams. Clark has only Kate Martin so far. Same 2x POY. I believe same conference POY + was on all conference all 4 years too. The only difference is the weaker competition and the easier path to the championships due to having 8+ WNBA players on the rosters. Top WNBA players played on that team. Clark has only had Martin. Made the same amount of Nationals, although lost both. Maya Moore made it to 4 final fours, though. Nonetheless, her results aren't that impressive--given that she only faced competition last year. You can argue the WNBA GOAT easily, though. 4x Champion is tough to argue against. Maya's probably been robbed of an MVP one year too. But the college GOAT is probably Griner. Played all 4 years in the hardest conference every single year. Won POY of that conference 3x. Was a DPOY of that conference every year. Was POY twice. Won a championship. Winning against actual competition every single year and being the top player in that same conference is really good. Much like Clark, Griner won that conference like 3x every year.

@@BlamaMan Maya Moore 2x National College Championships. 4x WNBA championships. Gold Medals, high school, etc. aren't really something you can compare players to. Clark won an AAU championship. Clark is a 3x U18 USA Champion Gold Medal Winner--with an MVP for the last try. Clark's college career is void of a National Championship, but she's been in 2 such games. Clark has just started her career in WNBA and her numbers are on pace to be better than Maya's at this rate. Can she be a WNBA 4x champion? I don't know. Moore had two Olympians on her teams, plus herself. I believe she had 4 players on the Olympic teams on the roster at some point too. It is hard to match that with the Indiana Fever team that doesn't have a winning record since like 7 years ago... We will have to see how her career plays out. Nonetheless, the points I've made stand true: Maya Moore's college career was inflated because half of her seasons she had played weak competition in her conference. The next half, she had stronger comps, and wasn't able to win the senior year due to stronger teams. Judging by the numbers, Clark's comp was stronger for a career.

@@politicallil7060 I'm just judging it based off of the metrics. We judge College Football the same exact way since "SOS" is so impressive and how much resume matters in that field, shouldn't WBB be judged the same way? - Weak SOS - Weak resume vs said SOS - (Added) WNBA players on the roster, that create advantages vs an already weak COMP vs SOS - Results/ stats for the player relative to the opposition. - What did you win as a player, etc. Not that I'm saying Maya Moore's career is bad or anything, but if you're judging her as the "utmost" elite then she should surely have separated herself beyond her own teammates, let alone her weaker conference each and every year? For instance, Griner was in the strongest conference each year and was named 3x POY for that conference + 4x DPOY from that conference. + the same 2x POY that Maya Moore and Caitlin Clark share. If you're the best in the strongest conference, then that should mean something.

Caitlin grew up idolizing MM and going to Minnesota with her dad to watch her play. Flop flop fizz fizz oh what a bust Caitlin is! Ranked absolute worst (WORST) defensive starting player in the WNBA. She's awesome on offense! But, horrible on Defense! How in the world did her coach allow Caitlin to fall so far behind in defense while in college? Thank a lot coach! What is the WNBA supposed to do with Caitlin now? Even her fans that actually watch the games are seeing she isn't able to deliver on the hype that was given to her in the attempt to save the league. They are tired of fighting her fights only to make excuses right and left about every thing possible. It's exhausting for many of them. And the comparison to Jordan and Bird are laughable. They need to find someone in the WNBA to compare to. Stop being ridiculous! Wishing Caitlin the Best! Still time to improve this year and lead her team to some really nice upsets.
