Today we shall be elucidate the deeds of the 1st Captain of the Death Guard: Calas Typhon.
Recruited from the toxic world of Barbarus, this psychically gifted warrior fought alongside his Primarch: Mortarion during their emancipation from the tyranny of the Necromancer Overlord of the planet.
Estranged from his kin for his gift in manipulating the Warp, through the influence of the Word Bearers 1st Chaplain: Erebus the being who would one day be known simply as 'Typhus' lead his Legion down the path of damnation and corruption...

I waited for an eternity for probably the best Chaos Lord in the WH40K lore. "Look upon me and know that I can slay you at will. You have no defence save one: to look into the darkness at the back of your own mind. There, you will find Father Nurgle waiting to offer you life in return for your submission. Deny him, and you are mine. " Badass charcter, who has the rotting balls to talk back to his Demom Primarch, Mortartion.

I NEVER watch ANYTHING to do with Nurgle or the Death Guard while I am eating. I can watch just about everything about the other chaos god's and their followers, but the Grandfather and his followers are just a line too far for me. 🤮

Isha was free. The cage snaped and burned to ash,as white fire. Russ' job was done. The children of nurgle were briefly silent. Mortarion said nothing. The Everqueen of the aeldari pantheon cast her gaze to the pale king. "Child of rot and rebirth. This was not your fate to be. Be free,and finish what you started." And ishas words were made reality. The daemon prince burned to ash. And mortarion remained. Sane. So much horror done. But that was not inportant. Typhon must pay. TYPHUS. NURGLE. THE EMPOROR. ALL WOULD PAY. Trees and brambled screamed to life. "This. Is not. Over." Mortarion exited realspace,several nurgle daemons were mangled and impaled upon celestial branches. Isha arrived in realspace. Upon a world. "Your brother is freed,Wolf king." The everqueen spoke to the old primarch. The ancient russ nodded. "Thank you. I fufiled my end of the bargain. I still need a fruit of the world tree." "...i am sorry,lord of fenris. But your father is beyond my help. His soul is so scattered even my powers are unable to piece it together enough. The attempt would call many neverborn to terra. But this may suffice." Isha then produced a strange orb like object. Organic in form. "It will not be enough to heal him. But it will be enough to begin the process of healing his body faster. His soul will be another matter. Simply go to terra,place the fruit in the mangled soil,and it shall do the rest." Russ nodded and took the fruit. "I shall try. Safe journey. Where too?" "I must scatter as khaine did. The neverborn march to achieve ingress here. I am not safe." Russ nodded as he looked to the horizon and sighed as he was alone. "Well. I guess no other options left then." Russ cast his mind with his power. Upon maccrage, guiliman was filing work until he heard a voice. 'Brother. I need your help. I'm trying to find the rest. Meet me upon the road to terra." And then silence. Gulimans pencil snaped by accident. He barely registered it until snapping out of his daze. Then cracked a small smile. "Russ...you bastard..." Guiliman said,holding his hand to his face trying not to break down. The lion elsewhere heard it too. "...Zabriel." "My lord?" "Assemble a group of your best men. Were making for the road to terra." Zabriel was confused. "Why? Did the emporor do something?" "No. Russ." "...i will have men ready within the hour,my lord." Zabriel left as the lion sighed. "If russ has come back so soon after i,the hour is getting dark indeed." To be continued...

I love the Death Guard's helmet designs. They're so cool. Makes me wonder when they got them. Loyalist DG a lot of the time have the usual Crusader pattern, but in 40k they've got their like, Toxic-punk aesthetic tailor made to their themes in its design.

There was a book in the Heresy series, that told of Barbarus pre imperium. Calas's origin is more interesting than the Death Guard in general.

Awesome coverage and narration of this Death Guard herald. So much more enjoyable to listen to a genuine voice rather than the AI generated ones - with wrong/lifeless intonations and pronounciations. I never understood why Typhus thought Nurgle appealing. In the short story where he gets what I believe is his first disease mark he bizarrely thinks flowers rotting around him are somehow pretty. That’s just nuts, how does someone so screwed up get to be a space marine? I don’t think he’s in thrall to Nurgle yet either, or even talking to him psychically (though I’ve always assumed that wasn’t Nurgle just one of his daemons).

Mortarion is Nurgle's favourite toy to play with, Typhus however is more like a son to him. Whereas Mortarion is probably always on a leash, Nurgle willingly grants Typhus the "wings" to do whatever he wants as long as he is spreading plague and disease.

Dunno how the imperium can win against the warp without more psykers, Seems impossible for a regular astartes to be able to deal with things like warp flies that bypass sealed cerimite. Even a primaris would have little defense against the warp portions of the plague gods viruses. Every astartes would need at least a small amount of psychic ability to just be able to stand and fight.

In case you hadn’t noticed, that’s one of the big lore points being built up. It is being hinted quite strongly that faith in the Emperor will act as sort of a power like the warp itself is for psykers. Guilliman in the Garden of Nurgle, and numerous others became conduits for this power. Imagine instead that loyal Astartes will be protected by the Emperor’s power going ahead, like with the Sisters, the more faithful, the more power they can wield.
