MTG lore is breathtaking. The amount of heroes, legends, and history is some of the best out there. If only we had a novel series.

This has to be one of the best Magic summaries ever crafted. Detailed, well thought out, and very well paced, you've truly out done yourself.

The more i learn about mtg lore, the more i realize its 75% a story of ugin, bolas and the phyrexia and 25% what everyone else is doing in between 😂😂

Underrated 9.5/10. Only thing that would make it better, would be to make it 3 hours lol

Well that was excellent. I personally loved the complex old stories and lore, and the original Ravnica narrative.

This is great, though it missed an important caveat at the end of the Shadows Over Innistrad Block: the Gatewatch didn't succeed at sealing Emrakul away but rather, she chose to seal *herself* away. She sensed that the plane wasn't ready to be cleansed, so she took control of Tamiyo and forced her to use a forbidden scroll that would allow Emrakul to chill in the moon for a while.

ok now explain how lotr, walking dead, fallout, forgotten realms, dr who … fit in the story 😅 (just kidding)

This is phenomenal. Seeing all of magic history and lore concentrated in one place, honestly not in a way that has been done before. I’ll be sure to point this out to people who have questions about the magic story. Incredible job being able to condense 30 years of overworld storytelling, and millennia of in game narrative into one place. The research as always is spectacular.

I'm new to Magic and have been reading all the lore. Now I don't have to!

The lore have always been awesome in set up, and word building, in hypothetical climax... however, the conclusions of the lore points are often OK/tier, sometimes lame and lazy. But it's what give MTG its charm.

If we got a MTG animated/live action series what story line do you think would be the best to cover? Thran Dynasty, Urza, or Gatewatch saga?

This story is short and sad Once upon a time, there was a game. This game brought many together in harmony and sometimes in enmity; but always there was a peace. For many ages this peace was held, glory was attained and and all was good. Then the darkness came. It started and a niche idea for the younger generation who did not yet know the old ways. From the darkest reaches of YuGiOh they came. At first it was just a few; but then the Age of Puberty fell upon the lands. In droves these younger, more whiney, players threw tantrum after tantrum about the great regulator “Mana Burn” and it was struck down; and with it… basic strategy and mental math skills. This did not slake the thirst for devastation the YuGites demanded. They attack every facet of the rules, and marginalized the traditional players. Many were lost in the great Culture War. Inevitably the lore of old became myth; and was lost to all but the archivists. The Traditionalists could not maintain having families, bills, and adult responsibilities and fight a war in an imaginary world. Today many survivors look upon the ravaged lands of Dominia, seeing nothing but Commander decks built from blueprints found on the internet. They hold their ancient Grimoires close at hand for the day when Urza Rena first himself and returns Dominia to its former Glory.

I think this was a better handling of the ending of All Will be One then WotC laid out. From my POV, I saw the art for Norn's defeat before I saw the invasion intro video. It felt like they spent all this time setting up a "MTG: Endgame" story, then just went "eh, Lord of the Rings is coming, lets just wrap this up with a little Deus Ex Machina". Elespeth appears and strikes down Norn. The End. Fantastic video btw! My fav period was Ice Age only because thats when I started playing and I hope they do return to Kaldheim for some more frosty cards.

Wotc royally fumbled the phyrexian invasion of the multiverse, the biggest event in mtg history--the most important story event in the most popular card game ever. They turned it into a no-stakes, shallow girl-power moment on all sides. And made the phyrexians themselves into radio-controlled jokes. Seriously, the game had DECADES of anticipation for this one moment...and they turn it into a worse version of the Star Wars battle for Naboo. Far worse. TL:DR version: 99% of the heroes live, all of the droids are "turned off" when angel mommy kills robot mommy, and phyrexia is put on a shelf indefinitely. Oh, but we got our lgbtq DEI points with the Nissa and Nahiri relationship at the end. Whatever team decided on this ending needs an award because I didnt think it was possible to fail so spectaculary when the ending should have been a lay-up. Karn should have been the new Father of Machines. It would have been the perfect development for his depressive, crybaby, yet incredibly powerful character. He could have emerged as a new big bad, maybe with a different name, and maybe Phyrexia still would have lost this round, but at least the good guy victory would have felt interesting and pyrrhic. Argentum, or Mirrodin, had been HIS plane, it had become his story, and he could have finally owned it and repented by becoming what he was meant to be via the trace of phyrexia within him from his beginning. Hell, here's an idea; they could have made Karn assimilate the Praetors into himself to become the new Father, consume some high profile planeswalkers DBZ Cell-style, and gain godlike planeswalker powers again. He could accomplished what Nicol Bolas wanted all along. And then he could teleport New Phyrexia wherever after getting hit with a sylex or something and choose a different destiny for Phyrexia. Somewhat evil and anti-hero. There, I made a lore-compatible story that is already better than the MOM ending in like 5 minutes. That's how bad the writers at wotc are and how little they actually give a shit about MTG. I could say more, but ask yourself this question: where the hell is the magic story even going now?

Nicol Bolas and Nahiri are truly the two most dispicable characters in Magic's lore. Nicol Bolas is just s selfish, uncaring force of malevolence. However, Nahiri is far worse. She's the petty Donald Trump figure of magic. Nahiri knows what she's doing is wrong--she just doesn't care. She wants to hurt Sorin and the multiverse for how it's wronged her. She's just a pathetic excuse of a being with godlike power. Compleation didn't make her bad, it made her worse.
