CALDER WOODLAND WAY | Happy Valley Filming Locations | Calder Valley
This weekend we checked out the Happy Valley hiking trail, otherwise known as The Calder Woodland Way! The trail is 23.5 miles long, starting in Brighouse and winding through the Calder Valley to the finish point in Walsden.
The route passes through many of the Happy Valley filming locations such as Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge. It was a wonderful trail, we were joined by members of our Officially Smashed It hiking club as we explored the Calder Woods on the Happy Valley Trail.

Where is the Calder Valley located? In West Yorkshire
What is the total elevation of The trail? 1225m
Why is Calder Valley called Happy Valley? The local police call it this due to its drug problem

What a fantastic group hike some great angles and fabulous drunken wanderlust madness, we love the Danni Cam and Danni crossing that stream was hilarious! Thing you fear the most house love it! Ssshhhnacks 🤭 Delayering for the mugginess 👍 ooo love a hobnob. Nice little Airbnb. Just love your energy guys right up our street! You lost a James but gained a Claire! Lovely views at the top of that climb, Danny’s face when you said about living in a tent, priceless! Beautiful waterfall and another ssshhhnack stop! Fancy a bath 😂 oh yes this great hike involves a cheeky wine stop and a 🐈‍⬛. A wild wine wee 😳 you officially smashed it guys, awesome! Have a great week you crazy pair ❤

Fun times. Great group hike. GPS can be a lucky break sometimes. Bridge shot was cheery. Well done and smashed it. I put in for the lottery to hike half dome at Yosemite National Park in the US in 2023 but we will see. All the best from that place🤠

Nice walk out and a nice little crew as well. Sounds like some real big plans for the year ahead and I hope it all happens and goes well for you, all we need now is a nice warm, dry summer to fully appreciate it. Loved the river crossing but to be fair that was one mighty strong and terrifying crossing, more of a lake than a river😁 . Well I have done 114 Wainwrights, which eaves me 100 still to do, so will be concentrating on those this year but I do intend to section hike the Northumberland Coastal Path this year too, as I have been inspired by you to do a long distance hiking trail. That Airbnb looked very nice and after a dark walk back in the rain, very welcome as well I will bet. Lots of ups and downs on the second day but some great scenery and then a Weatherspoon's - brilliant! Very well done to all who completed it hike, cheers Alan

Looked like a really fun adventure. Gotta give Danni credit for getting out of her comfort zone and pushing herself across that stream and muddy bank 😁😁👍👍and pushing through the anxiety. The trail was beautiful after the construction with all the moss. How nice there was a bath along the way if you get to sweaty.

Bye eck! Thee's int Yorkshire now thy knows. There's a lot of ups and downs in Yorkshire - lots of sheep too. Did you know you're in Bronte Country there?!! West Yorkshire towns have a huge cultural heritage. Ted hughes and Sylvia Plath are buried in the same vicinity. We have a few Boggarts about, there's one up the road from me they say. Hebden Bridge has had an alternative life style and open to many who chose to live there without judgement for some time. Very refreshing. I love the area, played most of those pubs in gigs. I have quite a few friends in Tod, it's a Labour heartland of strong Socialist traditions. Hoped you enjoyed it.

The Danni face closeups were like being on acid, you two are crazy but lovely too. I'm building up to hikes like this hopefully by summer, letting yourself get unfit really limits you and this makes me want to get back to where I was before.
