@RadioSix This one was the 'rural' startup. The other two startup films were urban-based and featured the various towns and cities in Central Scotland. ;-)

"This is Caledonia Television, broadcasting to Central Scotland and the Isles of the Clyde from the transmitters of the Independent Broadcasting Authority."

Really good mock. Very well done indeed.

I notice this startup sequence says "mock" but did the company that bid for the licence actually commission these films? I thought they would have waited until they had got the licence before they got down to doing any filming. I just did a quick search on the web and there a company that has that exists now but was founded in 1992

Nobody in 1981 would have used a bit of kitsch 50s library music written by an Englishman. Caledonia TV (and I knew the people involved) would have had something bright and zappy more like Central's startup music. No way would Caledonia have used a Lion rampant, since that was STV's logo for much of its life. Central Scotland is an industrial belt, an opening film would have showed the busy modern cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and probably coastal scenes from Renfrew, Ayrshire and Lothian.
