This is so nostalgic. Like so many comments, it takes me right back to early childhood waiting for the lunchtime programme. “ The Oneo’clock Gang”. So glad I found this.

The old B&W television had to be warmed up in time in order to catch this wonderful Scottish medley. Happy childhood days, a long time ago.

Wonderful arrangement I can’t remember who penned it …………… French horn and piccolo intro into hundred pipers …….., I always thought was comparable to the ‘Hampden Roar’ and. waaaay better than the “White Heather club “ .In my dotage I miss the White Heather Club too! Need to take more tablet(sic) 😂

They even ended-up taking the word 'Scottish' out of their title with their rebranding - probably believing they were being so modern . Although we are aware what the 'S' represents.

Have hope in Jesus Christ today No hope in going to the past come to the loving savior today Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

Yes indeed a memory but as I saw this for years as a TV engineer I immediately saw the spelling of Lethanhill was in fact incorrect, so its also a reconstructed image. This relay transmitter covered South Ayrshire as the signal from Black hill on Ch10 was too poor.

Scotlandia! A cracking start-up theme which heralded the start of the STV News and the One o'Clock Gand with Larry Marshall et al. Lord Hill called the latter, rubbish, but ignored the fact that the audience would queue for hours to get into this live show. As for the tune, all traditional melodies (so no rights issues) with less of a modulation in the key change between each song than a crunching of gears; It's not very subtle but it does the job! I wonder if Gerry managed to negotiate a royalty for the arrangement- I suspect not!. (I've always wondered why the last 12 bars or so changes key so dramatically, it's a bit like trying to find 5th gear and getting 3rd instead- was it a better key for flutes as STV also used the first phrase of "100 Pipers" as an ident? Sadly no longer on Spotify at time of writing (Jan 2020) but you can still download it from Amazon. Put it on your phone now and remember the glory days of STV!
