I once got fired for not turning up to work on work's advice because I wouldn't be able to do my usual job after a medical procedure. They told me I hadn't been there long enough to have "so many sick days" ... I wasn't even sick! I offered to do another task for that day but they told me to stay off.

This is just how it works, when you first pick the the you show you can be a competent reliable man for the first few weeks. Just gotta man up and make that first impression, not too hard to understand.

Sick day usually means u get paid for missing your hours. I think she’s saying that he’s too new to expect to be fully paid for missing what is probably an 8 hour shift. It takes time to build sick hours. Here in Canada I think we get 9 hours after working like 40 hours a week for 4 weeks; might be wrong on that figure. Or mabye she’s saying that he’s just not even allowed to just call in sick, in which case she’s a shrill lol. But I’m pretty sure she means paid sick leave
