I bought a pothos plant a few weeks ago at my local hardware store and it came with a little baby of that pink panther in the same pot.😂 I've been taking good care of this little "baby" and it already started to grow. Honestly, I didn't know what kind of plant it was. I only knew that I fell in love with it. 🪻Thanks for your video.

Thank goodness for this video. I just got a Pink Panther and its stems started falling off and the inner leaves are withered and brown! Now I know it's underwatered! Thank you SO MUCH.

Lol this is great. I just bought my Bianca and pink panther from your nursery and came home to learn more care about them. I thought the pot wall behind you seemed familiar!

Honestly I'm shocked people don't think they can handle direct sunlight. I've been giving those things some serious sunlight and they've been great!

Likewise. Maybe depends on weather location. I stay on equatorial region & mine are growing beautifully under the sun & rain.
@GroovyPlantsRanch

Absolutly they can handle quite a bit of sun and as long as you are watering regularly they will be fine. Do you find that your leaves are more succulent like in full sun?

What is your opinion of grow lights? I live in low light home and my work desk is my plant area too with full spectrum grow lights. I got some cuttings of this and am propagating them now.

I wonder how big these can get. The ones i just bought from the store are in an 8 inch pot, 5 inch deep and has a nice three or 4 inche flowering on top. I don't know how big these can get or should get because every video I see has all these small plants.
@GroovyPlantsRanch
@GroovyPlantsRanch 3 жыл бұрын
Because they are a low forming plant that roots wherever it touches soil, it can grow as large as you give it space. That being said 8" is really big and I wouldn't worry about making it any bigger.

I’m so glad I found this video! I just bought this plant from my local nursery. How do you tell when the pink panther needs water? Is there any sort of “tell” in the leaves like other succulent type plants? How many inches of the top layer of soil should be dry before I water? I’m really bad at going based on touch with soil and typically use a meter to water.
@GroovyPlantsRanch
@GroovyPlantsRanch 3 жыл бұрын
I would water your pink panther when the top half of the soil is try but the bottom is damp. That is hard to know in inches because pot sizes are all diffrent. You could also aim for watering when the meter says it is 50 /75% dry.

Hello! Thank you very much for the video and for the useful information. I have a question. We know that white or variegated leaves are the absence of chlorophytum. Chlorophytum "works" in light and sun. Does this mean that for Callisia Bianca it is better to have a weak light so that there are more white or variegated leaves on the stems, and it will turn green more in bright light? Thanks in advance for your reply and help.

Callisa varigation has nothing to do with light and the brighter the light you have on your plant the pinker it will be. So you are better off having it is very bright light to make it the most colorful. Good luck!

Hi, what is your experience with top watering callisias? I find them getting bald around the areas where I top water. Do you find bottom watering better for these plants?
@GroovyPlantsRanch
@GroovyPlantsRanch 2 жыл бұрын
We water everything from above with a breaker head on the hose; so the spray is not hard. If you are having balding in an area where you water try watering in diffrent spots, or water from the bottom.

I have a huge one I got about a month ago that’s hanging over the pot. When I go to bottom water or move the plant it seems to be dropping a few stems here and there. Is there a specific reason for that? I also find it hard to bottom water without moving the leaves and them falling out but don’t trust myself to top water these based on what I’ve researched.

I would make sure it is being watered well enough. We water these all from overhead but with a spray nasal the spreads the water out, instead of putting it all in one spot.

It is probably drying out more then it would like. Try watering it deeper and a little more often.

mine has been growing decently, but i noticed some orangey spots on the leaves. i try to avoid top watering for fungal issues and usually bottom water mine. do you think it's an underwatering issues? i have some older crisping leaves, and the soil still looks moist-ish when its time to water them.
@GroovyPlantsRanch
@GroovyPlantsRanch 2 жыл бұрын
Those spots tend to show up when they are underwatered. Also they can get a little ugly on top with age. I like to reset mine once a year. By cutting all the good tip replanting them in a new pot and getting rid of the top.

I ordered some of these from an online store to propagate. I received them about 2 weeks ago and I have them in water. Some have started rooting while others are growing leaves and no roots. I do not succeed when propagating in soil. Would I water as if it were already rooted? Or keep soil moist untill rooted? Thank you for the video, Very informative

Any tips on making the best soil mix for callisia?
@GroovyPlantsRanch
@GroovyPlantsRanch 3 жыл бұрын
Callisia like to dry down a bit between watering. A high quailty standard potting mix should be fine.
