There's a lot wrong with being exploited in a low wage labor job at a business that poisons the community.
@BillCosbyTouchedMyDoodleАй бұрын
This takes me back to when I was 18 years old and got my very first job: stock clerk at liquor store located just a ten-minute walk from home. I was hired exactly six months after I graduated high school, and then celebrated by treating myself to two movies (Home Alone 3 and Scream 2) in an effort to milk my remaining two days of freedom before entering the work force. Although, unlike Calvin, I hated my job from the get-go and quit nearly five months later. It was boring, and I was never able to remember where each brand of liquor was located on the shelves. This didn't sit well with the owner (Indian dude in his late 30s) who was a tyrant and always yelling to the point of making me cry, especially if I broke a bottle. He would threaten to take it out of my pay if it happens again. Of course, he was bluffing. Looking back, I wish he had meant what he said (but in a respectful tone) rather than yell at me and not doc my pay. I mean, what's better -- a berating boss who gives bonuses, or a soft-spoken boss who doesn't give bonuses? Something to think about. Anyway, I'll never forget my very first pay day. $355 dollars (off the books). That Saturday night, my boss's mother (a sweet little old lady who always stood post for shoplifters) told me to put my money safely in my pocket, since it was around 1 a.m. and I would be walking home by myself. Bless her heart! Sadly, her son died about a year after I quit that job. From what my mom told me prior to his death, she noticed he looked very thin and frail. Supposedly, he was HIV positive. So I went to the liquor store to give his mom a hug and offer my condolences. Despite his lack of people skills, his generosity was unmatched -- he treated me to breakfast every morning when he arrived at the store where I waited for him to open up shop. On top of that, despite working there just three days, he not only gave me a bonus, but told me to pick out my mom's favorite wine for him to gift wrap for me to give to her. When I proceeded to grab a smaller bottle, in an effort to not look tacky/greedy, he said, "No, grab the bigger size." I still have the Christmas card that my bonus was enclosed in, for memories of this milestone. You never forget your first job, and I would gladly go back in a heartbeat, just so I can be young, vibrant and stress-free again. Incidentally, at my next job at a bowling alley, my boss was a customer at the liquor store, as he would purchase inventory for the bowling alley's saloon. Small world. One day when he arrived, he came up to me at the front desk where I was stationed, and stuck up his index finger and said, "I just saw your former boss. He looks like THIS.” R.I.P., Krishna. 🙏❤ 🙏 ❤ 🙏❤

No we are putting a light on a corporation that expects a grown man to feed his family on minimum wage, fast food, labour and acting like its a profession to be encouraged and to be aimed for in the community rather than for aiming higher. McD wouldn't dare to aim this advertisement for a grown man named Harrison in the gated community and have his neighbours be so proud of him and call it legitimate work or a career. They wouldn't even call it a respectable dinner.
