This is vintage Mike. He has always been an excellent teacher (see, for example, his vids at Avebury - before he lost weight (wish I had!) - where he does brilliant explanations of F-numbers, compression and perspective, using bicycle wheels as I recall. Great vid, thanks Mike.

Manual with spot focusing has always been my go-to mode except for on-the-fly shooting when aperture or shutter priority come in handy. Never forgetting the third part of the triangle, ISO. I do enjoy your videos, Mike.

Always aperture priority for me. Works, mostly, every time.

I think the biggest confusion are the 3 settings and what they do because they all do sort of the same things "in a way" when it comes to light,and it confuses people. AND then another thing is the Fstop. The higher the number the smaller the opening. the smaller number the larger opening. Its hard for people to keep that in mind.

Those creative modes on cameras don’t help a person become creative. I shoot 95% of the time in manual mode and the other 5% in aperture or shutter priority. I suspect many others could get used to manual mode pretty quickly with practice. After some time it becomes like muscle memory working the exposure triangle.
