Excellent video. I found a camillus #67 at my grandfather's house after his death in 2012. I greatly appreciate the help narrowing down it's age.

Love this video buddy! I have just been thinking recently that I have bought many Camillus knives over the years, and it's a brand I really enjoy.

Is there a way to tell the exact yr. My Yellow Jacket Congress 712 was made & what it's worth. It was my dad's.

Tobias, thanks for the video. Now I know the small Camillus folder I have is manufactured during the 80's but that's all. It looks like an Imperial Lineman I saw in an ad in a 1988 National Knife Magazine but when I search the internet for a Camillus Lineman none look like the Imperial or the Camillus I have. Maybe you have an idea what I have. It is 3 5/16" long folded, it has 2 1/2 " sheeps foot blade with a nail nick on the stamped side of the blade, the handle appears to have dark brown wood scales with silver front bolsters, scales held on with two brass pins, one small and one larger, there is a silver ring pinned on the end, there is a half circle cut out of the back of the handle on the blade side of the handle and there are brass liners. I have photos but cannot attach to this chat. Thanks Chase

Thanks you for the helpful video. I guess that would make my TL-29 a 1950's vintage.

I have a large Camillus with the last tang stamp but it has a large X that was put across the Camillus name? It appears it was etched into the tang.The secondary blade has CCC-4 on the tang stamp as well.I can’t find anything about the Large X across the Camillus name anywhere? Thanks much.The knife is a large two blade Hunter it appears.
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 ай бұрын
Thanks. This is new to me but I suspect the X is there as the knife was either of Factory Second or it might have been a knife made from parts purchased at the Bankruptcy auction when Camillus closed in 2007. I really don't know for sure. I will have to look into this one.

@@KnifeChatswithTobias It’s very clean and it’s in Awesome condition and I also put a .45 Caliber brass for the shield since the original one had fallen out which you know is common. 👍🇺🇸

I have a rams foot with marlin spike with the 60s logo, but no line and STAINLESS instead of New York. It is a civilian version of the US Navy sailor's knife, no. 697. I'm guessing the Stainless no line tang stamp is a variant from the 60s. Is that right?
@user-ig6nu4oo5p3 жыл бұрын
That was very informative. I bought a camillus barlow on Ebay, the seller claims it is "pre 2004" model and the tang stamp looks like the last one you showed. But there are no more symbols on it like the model number or the type of steel. I don't know much about Camillus so is that common practice with them or did i buy some kind of fake one?

I have a Camillus k- bar knife with tang stamp, US over CAMILLUS. That is all there is. Can you identify when this was made?
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
I should do a video on this as the Fixed Blades do have different tang stamps . If it is stamped US over CAMILLUS it was made between 1974-1989 (or maybe as late as 2006. The Military contract ended in 1989) If it is Stamped US over CAMILLUS N.Y. it was made between 1962-1973 and is considered a Vietnam War Era knife, but that doesn't mean it was made for the military or used in Vietnam. It should be noted that these knives were not made between 1946-1961. The knives from WWII have a few different blade or guard markings, (Typically MK-2 or MK-2 USN)

Do you have an idea what the numbers 2034 on the pile side of a 4 line would be for?

I had a question , no matter what site I go to, I can't seem to find any talk of the Camillus cub scout I have , with this specific tang stamp. Help, please... it has Camillus italicized, a long line , then "stainless", then U.S.A. ! What year did this come from?
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
Hi David, this came up on may channel a few weeks ago and I contacted a person who worked at Camillus. Your knife would be from the same time period as all the other knives with the Camillus italicized (around 1976-1988). Apparently al they did was replace New York with Stainless. So earlier stainless knives will not be italicized.

How about this one ...... top line (CAMILLUS) ,bottom line (N.Y.) and nothing more . Hex pummel unlike anything I'm able to find ,weird hu? Id be glad to take pics and email them I have a small collection and this one always drives me crazy.
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
It should also have a date on the pommel unless the blade is 6 inches long. Does the blade have a saw teeth on the spine. Take a look at my video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jeBmZKx4kpOZZYk.html

@Tobias Gibson I found a Camillus military knife with the tang stamp, CAMILLUS NY NY, centered below CAMILLUS, no lines or periods. Its shape is most similar to Vietnam era jet pilot survival knives, but I have yet to match the tang stamp.

I have a fixed blade that is marked U.S CAMILLUS N.Y EVER seen that
@KnifeChatswithTobias Жыл бұрын
The Fixed blade knives were stamped differently. CAMILLUS N.Y. (WWII era knife) U.S. CAMILLUS N.Y. (in use until 1974) U.S. CAMILLUS (in use 1974-1989) CAMILLUS New York U.S.A. (in use 1989-2007 - Line above and below Camillus) There is a lot of over lap with the first two stampings and it is difficult to know exactly when the Camillus added the US above Camillus NY because of surplus blades in the factory once the military contracts were cancelled.
