Thank you for the thumbs up review. Nice work. The screws are designed to drill out the board as they go in. If pushed too fast the millings from the drill are not being exhausted out of the hole. That is one cause of the "bump". The driver bit you used is meant for grooved decking. It sinks the screw deeper than usual. The screw being deeper added to the "bump". There should have been a driver bit without the red stripe packaged with the screws.Let me know next time you want to use the CAMO Edge Screw system or CAMO EdgeClips. I'll see what I can do to help you out. Thank you for using CAMO!

@greg Hartmann. Hey I purchased the pro x1 but it says for wood use, only. Will it work on grooved composite, and what type of screws/tip should I use?
@greghartmann49844 жыл бұрын
@@joyfilopez6162 The Marksman Pro X1 is for wood decking that will shrink as it dries. The gapping between boards is too tight to use with any other decking. Swap the Marksman Pro X1 for the Marksman Pro. You must use CAMO Edge Screws available in corrosion resistant ProTech coated steel or stainless steel. To avoid the bump that he was getting in the video allow the screw to drill out material before applying pressure as you drill. A quicker installation will result if you get the pre-drill bit. Run two drills. 1 with the pre-drill bit and one with the driver bit. Where are you located? More information at CAMOfasteners.com

I just completed a large cedar deck and used this system. I would very highly recommend it to anyone and I am very pleased with the results.

We are redoing out deck since the guy who installed it didn't leave gaps between the decking and some of our boards started to rot out. We pulled up half of the deck and I decided to use Camo system to replace the deck boards and so get a look without the screws on top. I ended up buying three of them so my son and wife can put in screws as we lay each board. It worked great and the look is much cleaner than using regular deck screws. We found that they hold so well that they can even take the twist out of a deck board easily. We are sold and now my wife wants me to do the deck around three sides of our porch since she now hates how the nails in it look. More work for me but I love this system for putting down decking. BTW, we used regular deck boards that we prestained on all sides before we put them down. They ended up looking fantastic and driving the screws is a snap.

That's a Good tool to have, I would Switch to using GRK screws, They go in Flawlessly and Doesn't Blow out the Wood for The Hidden Clean Finish.

They work better on PT decking....I like the tiny T screw blocks for composite better tho...

I did my 250 sq ft deck and used pvc decking with no bulgdes on the side. Worked perfect every time. So perhaps its a composite issue.

Thank you I had ordered the Kreg jig system haven't used it was thinking about sending it back but I will just stay with the Kreg system since my decking is Composite too. I don't like that bulge you were getting on 50 percent of your boards you say.

Apparently I was using the incorrect screws...hopefully the Kreg works out for you!

@@MyDIYAdventures Thank you. I was going to send the Kreg back before opening but the Camo just seemed like it had few issues probably doesn't really matter? Good video.

@@MyDIYAdventures The box of screws you showed look like all the others I have seen from Camo. May I ask what was wrong about them? I am laying $4,000 worth of composite this weekend and was going to use this tool. After seeing your results I am haveing serious second thoughts. Thank you!

You’re using the wrong driver bit. If you use a Camo driver bit or put a depth control collar on a standard bit to control the drive depth, the screws can only be driven to the correct depth. This means the heads will be flush with the side of the timber and will not bulge the screw hole.

I'm not a fan, The screws are not going in deep enough for some reason, so I need to start them with the tool and then complete the connection without it. Ugh... very frustrating. And the driver strips so I've been through 3 of them. I came here to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I did use EPDM for a waterproofing barrier so there is some additional rise on the jost but not that much and the fabric is soft enough. Anyway.
