Hey everyone, Kevin here. I figured I’d start a KZfaq channel that felt a little more personable as I brought you all along on my adventures. Florida can be a tough state to camp in. I usually camp twice a week from November until March with friends. I still camp through the summer, just not as frequently as other adventures seem to take up the long summer days. I work rotating 12 hour shifts that allow me to have off 14+ days a month. Combine that with my sense of adventure and I'm able to see what the states really have to offer. Sleep good in a trailer knowing the bears will get the guy in the ground tent😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 seriously beautiful trees, though!!! Food looked amazing too!

Guy in the ground tent here… Two points on your statement. 1. I’m just that good of a friend that I’ll take one for the team. 2. I’m pretty salty and mean, so the bears don’t want to bring their children around the likes of me.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a Florida bear be aggressive or walk right up to a person.

Gas pressure lanterns for the win. They put out so much light and they aren't hard to operate. You just need to know how to operate them, or read the instructions that are usually on them! Looks like everyone had a great time despite the bears.

Exciting! I'm glad you were prepared. Camping in a ground tent wasn't the best idea, Not that black bears are too much of a problem.

Yeah, black bears aren’t usually an issue as long as you don’t leave any food out.

What little I know about bears..is getting between a mother and her cubs will almost always result in a charge...and those padded feet make no noise on the Forrest floor... beautiful to see from a distance for sure. Looks like a fun time with a bit of excitement mixed in. 😎🇺🇸🐻🏕️🚙🔥

Be more careful with Goose. I feel like it's the first time he's not on leash. A mother bear will kill a dog easily to protect her cubs. Great video! Thanks!

Your visitors looked like a Sow and some yearling cubs. My favorite item ...The Florida Trail *** runs right threw the center of the Ocala National Forest. Backpacking it is fun. One necessary thing when backpacking is to cook your meals a good distance from the campsite since it is Bear territory. Plus the food needs to be in a Bear proof container. I'm surprised you did not have bears all the time with so much cooking , a Bear attractant for sure. Thinking about it you might say you were camping in their living room since you were. Bears like most critters are normally a problem around established campgrounds. One at Juniper Springs , a few years ago , liked to check out the campers coolers. On the average down the trail primitive camping everything tends to leave you alone. *** Florida Trail Maps # 19 & 20. It's also the 1st part of the trail to be established. Starting at Clerawater lake off CR 42. up to Rodman Reservoir. No firearms allowed on the Florida Trail by members so mine stays home and I take Bear Spray. It's saved the life of a lot of trespassing Armadillos in the middle of the night.

We rarely have any bear encounters. It just so happened they were sleeping in the trees above our campsite. Thanks for the information about the FT and keeping food away.

@KevinHillyard I've camped along the FT(used bear bags) and in established camp grounds inside Ocala but thankfully have never come across bears!
